[Music plays]
Danielle: Yo, Reggie, check it out. It's Lily's hot new buds.
Reggie: Let me handle these bar-code bimbos.
Danielle: You ever hear of finesse?
Reggie: Which one is she?
Danielle: I know how to handle these chicks, ok?
Reggie: They mess with my sister, they mess with me. These airheads are going to have to find another free homework pass.
Danielle: Be cool! I'll give them a clue and so totally blow them away.
Jack: Hey, sweetheart. Lily, what's wrong? Honey, did something happen at school? Lilith?
Lily: I'm not Lilith anymore because of you. You wrecked my life.
Bianca: This is crazy. That shirt didn't just stand up and walk out of here. Somebody took it!
Kendall: Ok, listen, Binks, you haven't even cleaned out your whole bag yet.
Bianca: Kendall, I had the shirt at the lab when I offered it to Ethan.
Kendall: Ok, well, maybe you left it in the car.
Bianca: Why, so that I could clean the windshield with it? No, I remember -- I brought it home, I took it inside, I put it right here. Now it's gone. So who took it?
Ethan: You pinched the shirt.
Zach: For what reason?
Ethan: The obvious -- you don't want me to prove that I'm a Cambias, not because of some misguided debt you feel you owe my father or my uncle. What's the real reason here, Slater? Why are you so keen to keep me from my birthright?
Erica: Because you're not entitled to it. Time to leave town, Ethan. No more reason for you to stay.
Jonathan: Sorry, Bianca.
[Knock on door]
Maggie: Jonathan?
[Knock]
Maggie: Hi, it's Maggie. Are you home? Well, I know you're home. I saw your car out front. Not that I'm the stalker type, but I need to borrow your lips for a blind test taste, so why don't you open the door? You remember my lips, right? I sound like an idiot. I wouldn't open up the door, either. Hi.
Jonathan: Hi.
Maggie: So I forgot my blindfold, but, you know, we could still do this with our eyes wide open.
Jonathan: Hmm, why don't we finish this over at SOS. Over a few drinks, huh?
Maggie: What? What's that smell?
Jonathan: Oh, you're not the only one that can burn food. Come on.
Maggie: No, that doesn't smell like food. Aw, you're a bad Cub Scout! What did you throw in there? It looks like -- oh, my God.
Bianca: Mom, did you take my shirt for safekeeping?
Erica: No, honey, I didn't, although I certainly wish I had.
Ethan: Then it had to be you. You took the only piece of my family tree to spare me.
Zach: Let's go someplace private where we can talk.
Ethan: I've heard this speech until it makes you want to be sick. Being a Cambias is a fate that you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy.
Erica: Of which Zach has many, you can be sure.
Ethan: Yeah, when I decided to give up the search for my roots, you came back here and you stole the last remaining piece of evidence.
Kendall: Or else he hired someone else to break in and steal it.
Bianca: Is that why you insisted on coming back here with me, because you wanted to make sure that the last trace of Miranda was gone?
Erica: Don't expect him to feel your pain, honey.
Bianca: I told you that I was going to give up the last remaining physical tie that I have to my daughter. I was going to give it to Ethan so that he could find out who he is. That was a gift from me and my daughter, and you had no right to take it away from me.
Zach: I didn't steal from you.
Ethan: Really? How many other people hate the idea of me becoming an official, legal Cambias?
Zach: How about Ryan Lavery?
Bianca: Ryan doesn't even know the shirt exists.
Kendall: Yeah, I seriously doubt Ryan would rush home from his honeymoon to steal Bianca's blouse.
Bianca: I think I know who took it.
Jonathan: Leave it.
Maggie: Jonathan, what the hell -- that's Bianca's camisole. How did you get it?
Jonathan: I took it. I had to.
Maggie: What?
Jonathan: You heard Bianca at SOS, Maggie, talking up Ramsey, how he refused to destroy her precious shirt for his own selfish gain. What a prince. What a guy. What a total fraud!
Maggie: Because he wanted to do the right thing?
Jonathan: For himself! Maggie, I told you this. This is the classic fake-out. He's milking that noble bit to the max. Anybody with just half a heart would have to feel for this guy. And Bianca -- come on, she's a soft touch.
Maggie: But, Jonathan, why'd you have to burn the shirt?
Jonathan: Because Ethans scam worked on her! She was going to give it to him! Maggie, without a shirt, Ethan doesn't have a legit genetic claim. With it, he can have the test done and pay somebody to fake the results. I stopped a con artist from faking results that would make him rich! I blocked his plan to rob the man he tried to kill! Ok, I did this all for Ryan! He and my sister are all the family I have left! I had to do it! I had to protect them! Maggie, I don't care what the Forensics say, Ethan tried to shoot my brother. And then he was going to figure with him eliminated, he could sell himself to the Cambias board with -- with a bogus birth certificate and a letter from his supposed mother, you know, who conveniently can't even be found!
Maggie: It just doesn't make any sense.
Jonathan: Maggie, my brother has made so many enemies on this Cambias board. And they were going to vote him out right as Ethan showed up. He probably thought with Ryan dead, who was going to stop a Cambias from stepping up? Greenlee would be so wrapped up in her grief --
Maggie: Jonathan, you don't get it, do you? You're trying so hard to protect your brother from getting hurt that you hurt someone that I love! Do you have any idea what this is going to do to Bianca?
Kendall: Hold on a second. Bianca, are you going where I think you're going?
Bianca: I will tell you when I get back.
Zach: What? It's not a secret. I want you to stop trying to prove that you're a Cambias. Doesn't mean I stole her shirt.
Erica: Maybe I would have better luck trying to help Ethan put things in perspective.
Zach: Yeah, give it a shot. Get him on the next plane out of here. I'll owe you one. Excuse me.
Erica: Kendall, you'll excuse us?
Kendall: Mother, I don't want you doing a head trip on Ethan.
Erica: Of course not. I'll be gentle, I promise.
Ethan: It's all right, Kendall. I think I can handle anything your mother throws at me.
Kendall: Fine.
Erica: Well, Ethan, I think it's time we got to know each other, don't you?
Jack: Honey, please talk to me. How did I wreck your life?
Lily: You don't want me to have any friends.
Jack: That's not true. That's not true. I want you to have friends. Of course I want you to have friends.
Lily: You told me I couldn't do their homework, and they said they wouldn't like me if I didn't, and their mouths turned down when they said it.
Jack: Those girls weren't really your friends.
Lily: Yes -- yes, they were. I was a member and I was hot and cool. Chantal, China, and Autumn all said so.
Jack: Honey, not many people say what they mean like you do. Those girls may have said they wanted you to be their friend, but all they wanted was somebody to do their homework for them.
Lily: No, you're wrong. You weren't there when they asked me to be their friends. Their voices had smiles in them.
Jack: That's because they were putting on an act. They were just trying to get out of their schoolwork, honey.
Lily: No, no, no!
Jack: Honey, listen to me. Please, listen to me! Of course I want you to have friends. I want you to have friends. I want you to have the kind of friends that like you for you, not for what you can do for them.
Lily: But what I did made them like me. Like me, like me. Like me.
Jack: Lily, listen to me, listen to me. Those girls -- those girls never liked you!
Autumn: That shirt rocks. You work at Fusion, right?
Danielle: Mm-hmm.
Autumn: Cool. You know, we're having this party, like, a week from Friday. You are so invited.
Danielle: A week from Friday? Hmm. I don't think so.
Autumn: Do you know how hard it is to get into one of our soirees?
Danielle: There's a party at Fusion that night.
Autumn: Shut up! What for?
Danielle: You know our new signature fragrance?
Autumn: Enchantment? Please. It's totally hot.
Danielle: Well, we're having a big bash to celebrate our holiday print ad campaign -- you know, glitz, glam, celebs, the whole nine.
Autumn: Whoa. Do you think you can get us in?
Danielle: I can invite whomever I want.
Autumn: China, Chantal! It's Danielle, right?
Danielle: Yeah.
Autumn: Danielle said she can get us into a Fusion party.
China: Dress up or down?
Chantal: Will there be wall-to-wall hotties?
Autumn: Do we need a formal invite or do you just put us on the VIP list?
Danielle: What you need is to tell me which one of you is the brains at Calculus. My GPA could use a bit of a lift.
Autumn: Sorry, Dan, the only numbers we don't suck at are the ones on our shirts. But we lucked into this spaz chick who'll do anything just to breathe our air. She said she can't do our homework, but we'll have her back in no time.
China: Get us into the Fusion thing, we'll share the spaz with you.
Danielle: You guys share a lot, don't you?
Autumn: Sure -- makeup, clothes, guys.
Danielle: Secrets?
China: Totally. There's nothing we don't know about each other.
Danielle: And you're not afraid of catching it? I mean, since you share clothes and guys and all.
China: Catching what?
Danielle: I thought you said you share everything.
Autumn: We do.
Danielle: So, like, do you all have it or --
Chantal: Have what?
Danielle: That nasty STD.
Girl: What?
Danielle: What, you didn't share? Oh, well, I guess you can't blame her for not wanting to flash it all over the place, but the secret's out now.
Autumn: Shut up! It's so not true.
Danielle: Well, this says it is.
Zach: Kendall. I've been waiting for you. These are my closest friends.
Kendall: What do you want, Zach?
Zach: I want to help you.
Kendall: Well, who says I need help?
Zach: I saw you the night that Ryan was shot and you were a wreck.
Kendall: Yeah, it was the worst night of my life. But I've moved past it.
Zach: You have?
Kendall: Yes, I have. Why, you don't believe me?
Zach: I think maybe I know some of what you're going through. You feel abandoned. You've lost Ryan. You don't know who to turn to. I got to tell you, attaching yourself to Ethan is not the answer.
Erica: So, Ethan, it seems that both my daughters have become quite attached to you.
Ethan: They're amazing women.
Erica: They obviously share a fondness for you.
Ethan: I think they're pretty much the only friends I have in Pine Valley right now.
Erica: Well, that's true. You certainly don't top the popularity charts. So tell me, what is it that my daughters see in you that the rest of us don't?
Ethan: What do you see?
Erica: I see a man, clever, cunning, who's used both my daughters, both Kendall and Bianca.
Ethan: And how have I done that?
Erica: You have attached yourself to them at the most vulnerable time in their lives and you are taking advantage. You play the part of poor, misunderstood Ethan. So you have become the lost cause that Bianca can adopt and the rejected child that Kendall can relate to. You have played on their sympathies and you have manipulated them into becoming your staunchest champions. And why did you do all this? So that you could prove that you are blood relation to the animal who raped Bianca, to the animal who tried to rape me and Kendall. Huh. Well, now, actually, this just might prove your case. You just might be evil enough to be a Cambias.
Danielle: So, the word's out, you got an STD. You going under quarantine? You might as well hang it up for good now, sweetie. Even though you can take a pill or something like that, it's not like anyone's going to want to bump it with you.
Autumn: Let me see that!
Danielle: Don't get your nasties all over my cell, now.
Chantal: Look, the liar that sent that TM's in major trouble.
Danielle: Not laughing it up now, huh, hot girls? Not so funny when the one getting slammed on is you?
China: What are you talking about?
Danielle: I'm talking about your new hot friend? You know, the one you call "the spaz" or Lilith or the kid on the short, yellow bus?
Autumn: You know Lily Montgomery?
Danielle: She's my friend.
Reggie: And I'm her big, bad brother. The only way from stopping that text message from getting around the school is leave my sister alone. Is that hot enough for you?
Lily: It's because I'm different because I have Autism Spectrum Disorder. That's why you think they don't like me.
Jack: No, it doesn't have anything to do with you. It's just a sad fact of this sorry world that there are people who live in it who do not know how to be friends. All they know how to do is to use people to get what they want from them, and that's what those girls did to you, honey.
Lily: You feel sorry for me.
Jack: I feel sorry for them because they can't really see you.
Lily: They see me. They see me by the lockers and the cafeteria, on the bus. They see me and they talk to me, and I make them laugh.
Jack: People laugh for a lot of reasons, honey. Reggie and Dani have gone down to the music store and they are going to make sure --
Lily: No. No!
Jack: That those girls leave you alone.
Lily: No, they can't do that! If they do that, I won't have any friends!
Jack: Lily, you have friends. Erica's your friend, Dani and Reggie are your friends, Bianca --
Lily: No, no! My friends -- they wear numbers and they're hot and cool, and they said I could wear numbers and be hot and cool, too! You have to stop them!
Jack: Lily!
[Knock on door]
Livia: Hey, Jack.
Jack: Livia. Watch your step.
Livia: I'm so glad I caught you at home. Oh, my goodness. How much do you know about the Law of Perpetuities? You mind if I pick your brain?
Jack: No, if you'll return the professional courtesy.
Livia: You need help?
[Glass shatters]
Jack: Surviving my child's childhood.
Kendall: Zach, what don't you get about me trying to help?
Zach: Help Ethan or help yourself?
Kendall: Save your shrink rap and just tell me why you can't see Ethans side. Why won't you just take it?
Zach: That's funny, because you heard him say that to me, didn't you?
Kendall: Yeah, and you coughed up some story about knowing young Alex Cambias, which it still doesn't make any sense. I don't understand, why don't you want to help Ethan find out who he is?
Zach: Who's Ethan to you?
Kendall: He's my friend.
Zach: Yeah? Because it seems you want answers about him as badly as he does. What's your connection? What's your stake in this?
Kendall: You think this is about payback, don't you? You think this is about Ryan. If Ethan proves he's the Cambias heir, Ryan loses everything, crashes and burns, while I sit cackling, warming my hands over the flames.
Zach: How close would that be?
Kendall: Totally off the chart. I don't know the exact moment it happened, when I finally came to my senses. It was after the shooting and Ryan looked like he was dying, and I realized that getting back at Ryan, making him suffer wasn't working for me anymore, if it ever did. My addiction to revenge, as my mother so acutely nailed it, was losing all of its highs, and the lows were killing me, not him. So all I want to do now is just focus on the truth and making sure Ethan gets what's his.
Zach: Because you never got what you needed from your mother.
Ethan: I understand why you believe I'm manipulating people. From the tales people tell me about my uncle, how could you assume anything but the worst from another potential Cambias?
Erica: I'm glad we understand each other.
Ethan: Look, if you can show me a way out of this bind, I'd appreciate it. Listen, I came here hoping to either prove or disprove that I was a Cambias and that that would be the end of it. But it's turned out to be a lot more complicated than I thought. You see, my uncle's police files have disappeared along with his body. My grandfather's ashes are strewn over some desert. You know, I've combed the Cambias condo for any microscopic piece of evidence to test me against and come up with nothing. But as desperate as I am, I did not try to trick or manipulate your daughter Bianca into giving me that shirt. That was entirely her idea. In fact, come to think about it, I turned her down five times. Now that shirt's gone. I need to find some other way of proving who I am. So if you have any suggestions, I'd be very grateful.
Erica: Why not just give up?
Ethan: I can't do that.
Erica: Because of the money?
Ethan: That's the least of my reasons.
Erica: What are the others?
Ethan: Well, for starters, it's your daughter Bianca.
Maggie: This is all Bianca had left of Miranda. This is the last trace of her baby. It's going to kill her when she finds out.
Jonathan: Oh, God, Maggie. All I could see was Ryan going away again when I was a kid. He had to go way back then, I get that, but he was my protector, he was my hero. I was just this -- I was this awkward, goofy kid. The old man used to like to get blasted and throw the football in the lot next door to the house, but he would throw it as hard as he could, trying to get me to bawl. One day when Ryan came home, the old man was wasted and he was out of his mind. He was throwing the ball real hard. He was daring me not to cry. And Ryan grabbed the ball out of his and and he took it and he threw it over the wall next to the lot. The old man told me to go inside, and I heard him whipping his belt off. And that was the last beating Ryan ever took because in the morning, he was gone. And that's all I could think about tonight was -- was my brother gone again, you know, and leaving me behind. Oh, my God, Maggie, what have I done? You got to tell me what to do. You have to tell me what to do. I have to do something. I have to make this up to Bianca. I have to make this right.
Maggie: Jonathan, where are you going?
Jonathan: I have to tell Bianca what I did. She has to hear it from me.
Bianca: Did you take my shirt, the one that could help Ethan prove he's a Cambias?
Jonathan: I know the shirt.
Bianca: I was going to give it up anyway, but I wanted it to mean something. I didn't want it to just be for nothing.
Maggie: Bianca, I'm really sorry.
Bianca: You were so against my giving that shirt to Ethan. You were positive he was a fraud. Now it's gone. So I have to ask you, Jonathan, did you take it? Did you steal my shirt?
Jonathan: Bianca, I hate what this is doing to you.
Maggie: Of course he didn't take it. Did you, Jonathan?
Jonathan: No, I didn't.
Bianca: Ok. I had to ask.
Maggie: I know. I know, I'm sorry. I really am very sorry.
Jonathan: Mag, why'd you lie for me?
Maggie: Don't you know why?
Kendall: You don't know anything about me and my mother.
Zach: Your mother gave you up at birth, and that has marked you ever since. She spent years pretending that she didn't even know that you existed. And then when you found out who she was, you were rejected all over again. But that only made you fight harder to be accepted.
Kendall: She does accept me. She loves me and we're fine with each other.
Zach: I know, I know, I know, yeah, you are. But your wounds run so deep that you can't give up on this battle. And you're pushing Ethan because you want him to be accepted, too. You're making his battle your battle. You can't let that go. You know what? It's kind of sick. You need help. You need serious help. Really are your mother's daughter, aren't you? Just can't handle the truth.
Erica: You're saying you care about my daughter Bianca?
Ethan: Hit on her, actually. She set me straight, so to speak.
Erica: Yes, I bet she did.
Ethan: One of the pluses about being a Cambias is that I could give Bianca another link to her baby.
Erica: And Kendall?
Ethan: Kendall is -- Kendall can be a little bit of a head case at times. You know, I found that out that night at the casino, where she took an unscheduled dip into the ocean. She told you?
Erica: Well, she was a little bit hysterical to go into all the details. Ryan had just been shot.
Ethan: She took an unscheduled dip in the drink after Ryan finally convinced her that he was in love with Greenlee. Kendall was spinning out of control.
Erica: And you were there, conveniently, to save her. Why? Why, Ethan? You have no obligation to Bianca or Kendall.
Ethan: But I do. You see, if I'm a Cambias, I have an obligation to make up for what was done to both of your daughters, and to you.
Erica: Well, I'm moved. I am tremendously moved. You've made some excellent points, Ethan. Now tell me how shooting Ryan fits in with your other good deeds.
Reggie: You mess with my sister again, you deal with me.
Autumn: What? We were just trying to be nice.
Reggie: Lily doesn't need friends like you.
China: You're not our kind of party girl, anyway.
Danielle: And I so wanted to be a not-so-hot chick.
Chantal: Be careful, new girl. That attitude just slammed your social life.
Danielle: I can't wait to go home and write it in my diary.
Autumn: Come on.
Danielle: I'm saving the TM just in case, ladies.
Reggie: You were beyond amazing.
Danielle: Seems like I do all my best work in this place, huh?
Reggie: You know you just invited a lot of trouble in your life?
Danielle: I'm not afraid of those girls. If they want trouble, then bring it on.
Reggie: Come on, let's go tell Lily she can cross the hot girls off her social list.
Livia: Raising a daughter's not my area of expertise. I have enough trouble with my niece.
Jack: Lily, please, please come on out here. Livia's here. She has Pad Thai. It's the way you like it, with extra peanuts.
Lily: I don't want to talk to you.
Livia: Hey, they don't call them special needs children for nothing. Jack, it's hard enough telling a child who isn't autistic that the crowd they want to hang with is a bunch of users.
Jack: Yeah, well, I could have been a little more subtle, I think, but subtlety's usually lost on Lily, so I don't know.
Livia: Well, I got some good food here -- sesame chicken --
Jack: Yeah, I'm not sure I brought much of -- hey, hi. Honey, hi. Are you hungry?
Lily: No, thanks. Hi, Livia.
Livia: Hey, Lily.
Jack: So what are you doing?
Lily: Looking at the maps Reggie made for me.
Livia: Maybe you didn't blow it after all.
Jack: Yeah, maybe not. Listen, do you feel better about that stuff we talked about before?
Lily: Yes. I'm sorry about knocking over the chess set.
Jack: Oh, hey, that's ok. That was an accident. I'm sure you know where every last piece goes, so -- ok, what was that -- what was that legal headache you had?
Livia: Well, here's the deal -- I have this elderly client. I've represented him for years. He's very, very wealthy.
Jack: Yeah, we should all have that problem.
Livia: Exactly. But he's presented me with a case that has two issues, and that's what I need your advice about.
Jack: One?
Livia: He's a widower and he's very unhappy with his daughter's choice of --
Lily: Good night.
Livia: Oh, night, Lily.
Jack: Good night, sweetheart. I love you.
Lily: I love you, too.
Jack: Ok.
Livia: So the will that he currently has drawn up
Autumn: Danielle Frye is so up on herself.
China: Like, she's so not scared because her daddy's chief of police.
Chantal: I'll bet we can give her something to be afraid of.
Autumn: Speaking of scary, look who's here -- our old friend Lilith.
[Rock music blares]
Ethan: I didn't shoot Ryan, and I have no idea who did.
Erica: Are you sure?
Ethan: I didn't come to this town to hurt anyone. I'm just looking to prove who I am.
Erica: Well, then prove it, but leave my daughters alone. Oh. You didn't find it?
Bianca: Nope. I'm so sorry.
Ethan: Don't worry about it. I'll find another way.
Zach: You're playing around with things that you can't possibly understand.
Kendall: Well, suppose you shine some enlightenment my way.
Zach: You're using Ethan to work out your own history with your mother. That's not good for him, it's not good for you. Now, if you want closure, I'll pay for therapy for you, but keep Ethan out of your mess.
Kendall: Well, who the hell are you to talk about my mess? You're the one who's working so hard to keep the memory of Mikey Cambias alive. You're staging murder games, moving into your old pal's house. You're so all about everyone reliving their past, why don't you come clean about yours and Michael's? You and the Cambias brothers -- you guys were school pals, right? Did Mikey dupe you, too? In the locker room, did he talk about scoring with the ladies, make you think he was Mr. Irresistible, charming all the girls into his bed with a smile and a kiss? Did he brag about his conquests the same way he bragged about raping my sister? You want to talk about messes and therapy? Check out your own sick devotion to that twisted monster and leave me the hell alone.
Bianca: What other way is there to prove who you are?
Ethan: Beats the heck out of me. But I'll find it. Bianca, I'm grateful for all you tried to do for me, and I'm sorry that it came back to hurt you.
Erica: Bianca, sweetheart, are you all right?
Bianca: It's just a shirt. I really need to move on.
Maggie: I get why you burned the shirt. And Bianca wouldn't. It would just hurt her. Besides, what's done is done. The shirt is gone. There's no point in telling anyone about it now.
Jonathan: Thank you. Now I know I'm falling in love with you.
Livia: Way to go, girl!
Reggie: You should have seen Dani in action. She was way hotter than them snobs.
Danielle: Oh, those girls are nothing but attitude. You just have to shoot it right back them and we'll see how they do.
Jack: Well, just as long as they leave my Lily alone, that's all I care about. Thank you.
Reggie: Well, speaking of Lily, where is she? I want to her exactly how her so-called friends thought about her.
Jack: Yeah, well, she said good night and turned in a little while ago. Had a rather exhausting evening, I think.
Danielle: Yeah, I should get going, too.
Reggie: Yeah, me, too. I got to get ready and face the snobs of PV High tomorrow.
Danielle: Well, I'm ready for them.
Livia: If you give me a chance to help Jack clear this, I'll give you a lift.
Danielle: All right. Night, Mr. Montgomery.
Jack: Good night, Dani. Thank you. Thank you both very much.
Danielle: Oh, I'll show for Lily anytime.
Jack: Appreciate that.
Reggie: Wow, Dani, you kicked "amazing" to a whole new level.
Danielle: Oh, that was nothing. You stick around long enough, I'll show you how to really kick it one of these days.
Reggie: Oh, I'll stick around.
Livia: That Danielle is just full of surprises.
Jack: Yeah, that's for sure.
Livia: It's not every teenager that is secure enough to tell the in crowd to just blow off.
Jack: Yeah, well, I hope some of that confidence rubs off on Lily.
Livia: Well, from what Reggie was saying, I don't think Lily's going to be having any more trouble with the hot girls.
[Rock music blares]
Lily: Make it stop! Make it stop! Make it stop!
[Music stops]
Lily: You made it stop. Reggie and Dani were wrong. I want to be your friend.
Autumn: You're going to be, Lilith. Come on, let's go.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Reggie: Yo, Dad, Lily's gone.
Ryan: I may have a way to find out exactly who you are.
Kendall: Last time I saw you, you wanted me to rot in prison. Now you want to kiss and make up?
Zach: Michael was as evil as everyone says, and it's all my fault.
