Reggie: See? Now he's smiling.
Lily: No, he's not. That's not a real smile. People don't smile with other people's fingers.
Jack: You're right, Lily, they don't. I'm sorry, I'm just not much in a smiling mood tonight, that's all.
Reggie: There's only thing that's going to put a smile on Dad's face. If Erica walks through that door, tell him everything's all right and that she loves him off the hook. That means that she loves him a whole lot.
[Knock on door]
Jack: Who's this?
Lily: It's magic.
Jonathan: Ry, you don't believe this guy's line?
Greenlee: Alexander Cambias' grandson pops out of nowhere to claim a megabillion corporation?
Jonathan: And you're ready just to hand it over? I mean, how do we even know this guy is who he says he is? All he has right now is a note from his mummy.
Greenlee: Anyone with the right computer software can fake a birth certificate.
Jonathan: Which was conveniently never filed.
Mr. Thomas: The young man's claim does raise more questions than it answers.
Kendall: I believe him.
Greenlee: Big surprise. You rigged this scam. You won't stop till Ryan loses everything.
Simone: Hey, hey, people! All right, remember, peace begins with us. Let's figure out some way to see if this British import here is really a Cambias heir. Let's simply talk family. Are you single?
Greenlee: Simone, you're ready to push Ryan out for someone that you've known five minutes? Where's your loyalty?
Simone: No, that's not what I meant!
Ryan: It's ok! It's ok. Not that I'm proud of it, but I have had occasion to dummy up some legal documents, so I will not take this at face value, and I am not hopping onto Ethan's team. Simone is right. We need some hard evidence from an impeccable source to prove that you are who you say that you are.
Ethan: I'll give it to you -- solid proof that all this is mine. Proof that you can't deny.
Maria: Would you just stop? Stop trying to distract me while you hunt somebody that's close to me! I'm just -- I know you're trying to make me focus on you so that I don't see all the danger that you're trying to bring here to Pine Valley, and you know what? I defended you to Edmund and to Ryan.
Zach: You rushed to my defense? Is that why your husband came to see me?
Maria's voice: Well, what you knew about Maureen Gorman is all in the past. And as for you and me, we definitely have no future.
Zach: Maureen and Maria are not that different.
Maria: You are not hearing me, Zach. That was then and this is now, and we are over because we have to be over. So if you came here thinking we were going to just pick right up where we left off, then you need to pack up that painting and go because you wasted a trip.
Aidan: Hey, Eddie.
Edmund: Aidan. Good to see you, man.
Aidan: You know, I never thought I'd miss your ugly mug.
Edmund: That's what you get for thinking. Have a seat, man. So, tell me -- did you run down anything on Zach Slater? Who he is, was, or might turn out to be?
Aidan: Well, I hit a few dead ends, but then I locked into an ID for the guy -- one that he used before he became Zach Slater.
Edmund: You sure it's the same guy?
Aidan: Not yet. You know, there are gaps in his history, like big chunks of time that are unaccounted for.
Edmund: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I can fill in some of those gaps -- like the one when he was living in the desert, making love to my wife.
Maria: What do you mean? When did Edmund come and see you?
Zach: Right after you ran out of my office. I'm surprised he didn't bump into you.
Maria: No, you're lying.
Zach: Why would I lie?
Maria: He came home, he didn't say anything. He -- I mean, he was withdrawn, and he didn't -- oh, my God. What did you say to him? Did you say anything about us?
Zach: It's come down to that?
Maria: Oh, don't pretend like you're offended! Come on!
Zach: I promised you I wouldn't say anything about our past.
Maria: Ok, but I'm just supposed to take that on faith?
Zach: You used to.
Maria: Well, things have changed. You've made that a little impossible.
Zach: If it helps any, Edmund said that this was business. He wanted to do a profile on me for "Tempo."
Maria: Oh, my God, don't tell me that you agreed to do it!
Zach: Yeah, he said he's going to run with the story. Said it doesn't matter if I --
Maria: That means research! Don't you understand that? Research and digging into your past and every -- God, Zach, why are you doing this to me? You are totally ruining my life!
Edmund: I took your advice, Aidan, and I confronted Slater in his office about blanks in his bio. You know, facts that didn't exactly check out.
Aidan: You know, it might have been best to let sleeping dogs lie.
Edmund: Well, not when that sleeping dog is lying with my wife. I overheard them in the office -- Maria and Zach, talking -- about their life when Maria was Maureen.
Aidan: You know what, Edmund? You know, maybe I'm not the guy you should be sharing this with, man. You know, Maureen and I, after all we --
Edmund: No, no, no. Hey, listen, listen -- when you found out that Maria got her memory back, you bowed out. You were a gentleman, and you've become a friend. All right? And you actually have helped us. There's one other thing we have in common.
Aidan: What's that? Our rugged good looks?
Edmund: No. We're worried about Maria. All right? Slater's after her. He wants her back. I can tell.
Aidan: Now, did she pop him one before or after she kneed him in the groin?
Edmund: Well, she made it clear that the past was not going to repeat itself.
Aidan: Well, I bet you can take her word on that --
Edmund: Yeah.
Aidan: Because she loves you, Edmund. So how did she react when you told her that you knew about her and Slater?
Edmund: She didn't. I didn't tell her.
Aidan: Why the hell not?
Erica: What's magic, Lily?
Lily: Reggie's magic. He made you appear at the front door. But he didn't say anything about Bianca being here.
Jack: Yeah, well, I think maybe that required a different kind of magic, huh?
Lily: Are you here to tell my father that everything's ok and that you love him off the hook -- which means a whole lot?
Reggie: This is where you'd wish I'd disappear, huh?
Jack: Oh, no, no.
Lily: Did I do it again? Say the wrong thing?
Erica: No, not at all, Lily. No, all of us being here together like this -- this is a magical, happy coincidence.
Lily: I don't know that word. I'm going to look it up.
Jack: Hey, Lily, why don't you do that a little bit later? I think maybe -- I think maybe Erica has something she'd like to tell us.
Erica: Well, as you know, I have taken the first step to my recovery. I am sober and I have been to rehab. And now begins the really hard work of dealing with my past. They tell me that it's not going to be easy, and I do expect some challenges. They tell me there are going to be some setbacks. But I have made such a good start.
Jack: Yeah.
Erica: I'm taking back my life, and I can't tell you how great that feels.
Bianca: Mom and I are working our way back together again. And, as you know about the Kane women, once we set our minds to something, nothing can possibly stand in our way.
Jack: Well, you don't have to tell me. Come here, you! Oh -- and you -- I'm so happy, I don't even know what to say!
Erica: Well, you could offer us something to eat.
Jack: I could, yeah.
Erica: Yes, all this talk -- this has just made me really hungry.
Jack: Ok, how about we have that picnic that we were going to have but didn't have? We can have it right here, right here. Yeah?
Lily: A picnic at night?
Reggie: Well, it makes it harder for the ants to find us.
Lily: Too bad Kendall isn't here. That way Erica wouldn't have to say her speech twice.
Reggie: No, no, trust me, Lily, it's way better this way.
Kendall: Well, this day just gets better and better.
Jonathan: He's bluffing. He's got no proof he's a Cambias.
Greenlee: Come on, Kendall, where did you dig up this guy?
Jonathan: I say kick the wannabe to the curb.
Kendall: You know, Jonathan, an on-the-job screwup like you really shouldn't get a vote.
Greenlee: Speaking of which, weren't we just about to vote your bony butt out?
Kendall: You know, I don't think it could hurt to let Ethan say a few words. Do you? Or we could just go back to the board voting Ryan out without a successor.
Ryan: Hey, I don't know how to make this any clearer to you, Kendall, but if Ethan is telling the truth, then you don't have to vote me out. I will transfer the power smoothly. So, Ethan, some proof, please.
Ethan: You're looking at it, Mr. Lavery. My DNA. Forensics -- forensic science. It's come a long way since my father died in that car accident, so we're going to exhume his body and we're going to run ourselves a test.
Ryan: Wow, that's all really interesting, but it won't work because your grandfa -- Alexander said the car burned and there was nothing left of his son, although I wish there were so we could straighten this out right now.
Jonathan: You've already given this guy way too much of your time.
Ethan: Then we will use the DNA from my grandfather. We'll get a court order.
Ryan: Strike two -- he was cremated and his ashes were scattered all over the desert.
Ethan: My Uncle Michael, then. Where are his remains? They at least will show that we have DNA in common.
Ryan: There's no way to recover Michael's leftovers.
Greenlee: Sorry, old chap. Guess that's the way the biscuit crumbles, as they say across the pond.
Jonathan: We don't even have any parting gifts, so, cheerio, and nice try.
Simone: Oh, sorry, Ethan. It was a nice dream while it lasted. Can I buy you a pick-me-up frappuccino?
Ethan: What? Oh, you think I'm done here?
Simone: Oh, yeah.
Greenlee: Sure looks that way.
Ethan: I didn't come all this way to throw away my birthright when I'm close enough to reach out and touch it.
Jonathan: Except you're reaching into other people's pockets. I can't say I blame you for wanting a slice of the Cambias pie. And props to you for starting at the top.
Simone: You know, I heard that the Donald is always looking for good help.
Greenlee: Hope that Kendall springs for your airfare back to jolly old England.
Ethan: You people are unbelievable. Is it so hard to fathom that just maybe I'm telling the truth, and all I've wanted is what I've been denied my whole life? This isn't about the money.
Greenlee: Yeah, well --
Ethan: It's about putting a name towards mine, even if that name is a Cambias. It's about the family that I always suspected was out there, because I never felt at home where I was. I need to find where I belong. Good people or a team of rotters -- I want all those things that you take for granted.
Jonathan: You could have my birthright for a box of paper clips. Take it.
Ethan: Oh, I'll be back, with more than paper clips. This isn't over.
Simone: Ooh.
Jonathan: That was just a '
Edmund: Why didn't I confront my wife? Yeah, well, what was I going to say? "Hey, honey, guess what I just found out. While I was in mourning over you, you were making love to some guy in the desert."
Aidan: I'm not picking up any outrage, Edmund.
Edmund: Well, that's because there's nobody really to blame for the catastrophe that Hayward created.
Aidan: Except Hayward.
Edmund: Yeah. Look, I couldn't confront Maria. I'd be putting her in an impossible situation.
Aidan: Yeah, but all she has to do is tell you what happened.
Edmund: I know what happened. And so does she, all right? But knowing Maria, I mean, she would just turn herself inside out trying to downplay what happened -- you know, "it didn't mean anything, it --" not to protect herself, but just to spare my feelings because I'm not, you know, feeling like I'm the same man, you know, that I was, etc.
Aidan: Right.
Edmund: So --
Aidan: I got it.
Edmund: Now, I don't give a rat's butt about myself, but, you know, Maria -- she's -- well, her first instinct is to protect the people that she cares about, so I have to believe that that's why she didn't tell me about Slater when he hit town, you know?
Aidan: Yeah, because she cares about you.
Edmund: Yeah.
Aidan: A lot.
Edmund: Listen, if I was on my own two feet, she would have told me everything. You know? I'd have taken care of Slater myself, but right now, the way it is -- I mean, he's got the advantage.
Aidan: Not in my book, Edmund. I mean, come on, man. Zach and Maureen were then, but you and Maria are now. I mean, work it out.
Edmund: Yeah, "work it out, work it out." What the hell am I going to work out just sitting in this chair spinning my wheels? Hmm?
Zach: It's still there. The feeling -- what are we supposed to do, just forget about that?
Maria: Yes. Yes.
Zach: I can't do that. I can't. It's -- it's time for the truth, even if it hurts.
Maria: No, I can't. Edmund and I are -- we've got so much that we're trying to come to terms with right now, together as -- as a couple, and I don't want to hurt him more unnecessarily. There's just no reason to tell Edmund anything right now.
Zach: There's every reason. He deserves the truth. He needs to know that this isn't over.
Maria: No, but that -- that's not the truth.
Zach: Why do you do that? Why do you lie to yourself? Why do you lie to me? We want what we had.
Maria: No, I want what I have with Edmund.
Zach: Ok. Tell me something. When was the last time you shared a moment like this with your husband? When's the last time you felt loved the way that I love you right now? Come on, please, tell me it was this morning. Tell me it was yesterday. Tell me you remember the last time you felt this way. Tell me that, and I'll just walk away.
Maria: It's not Edmund's fault.
Zach: It doesn't have to be anyone's fault to be a fact.
Maria: No, but you're -- you're using that fact to get what you want.
Zach: No, I'm not. I'd like him out of that chair. I'd stand a better chance.
Maria: I'm not with Edmund out of pity or obligation.
Zach: No?
Maria: No. You -- you said you came here because you wanted to find out more about me? Ok, well, look right out there. That's -- that right there is where my plane went down. And that is where my husband watched me die. And we spent five years apart, but we finally made it back to each other because that love never died. And I would so happily spend the rest of my life with a man that I adore and may never make love to again than waste one more kiss on you, Zach. Why can't you just let me go?
Zach: Well, like you said, I know what I want.
Maria: You know, you used to be so tender and gentle, and you made love to me on the dunes during that meteor shower. And you said you made those stars fall just for me.
Zach: I did. And I want to do it again.
Maria: No, you're not here for me. I'm just, you know, a challenge to you, just a little something to keep you occupied while you wait and watch for your real target.
Zach: You're wrong about that.
Maria: I want you to stay out of my life.
Edmund: I'm sorry, Aidan. You got better things to do than to --
Aidan: No.
Edmund: Watch me pummel my chair.
Aidan: What, like the cockroach race back at the Pine Cone? I don't think so.
Edmund: Listen, there's plenty I can do from here, you know, in this chair. I can dig up dirt on Slater, figure out why he's really in Pine Valley.
Aidan: Well, I'll tell you what, he's certainly not selling tickets to a PBA fund, that's for sure.
Edmund: No, he isn't. A guy with that shady a history -- he's got something going on. He's either hiding from someone --
Aidan: Or sneaking up on them.
Edmund: Yeah. He's either afraid of somebody --
Aidan: Or somebody should be very afraid of him.
Edmund: Hmm. That's the mystery we got to figure out before he makes his move.
Aidan: So what do you want to do next?
Edmund: I'm still hung up on that phone call -- you know, the one that I intercepted. If it was Slater on the line, I have a pretty good idea who he ordered the hit on. Me.
Jack: And we've got hamburgers and veggie burgers and bratwurst, and we've got peppers for you, dear, hot off the grill.
Erica: Oh, it smells so good.
Reggie: And step up to the soda man.
Jack: Oh, I'll have one of those.
Bianca: And I got the mustard and the ketchup. All right, let's dig in.
Reggie: Wait -- wait a minute. Red alert.
Jack: Oh, yeah.
Erica: Oh, Lily, the red ketchup bothers you the way the red traffic light did?
Bianca: Well, that's ok. We don't have to eat ketchup.
Erica: Uh-uh.
Bianca: Just as good without it.
Erica: Absolutely.
Reggie: Around here we got real creative. What will they think of next? Madam, I hear this is a good year for green ketchup.
Lily: It doesn't taste red at all.
Reggie: It's not supposed to.
Bianca: Well, you know, I -- I like green ketchup just fine, but I really prefer the blue stuff.
Jack: Well, here you go. You've certainly come to the right place, darling.
Bianca: Wow.
Erica: Well, hey, you have a ketchup that will match my shoes?
Jack: Leopard -- yeah, we do, actually.
Bianca: You know, I wonder where they get blue tomatoes.
Reggie: Well, you know, the same place where they get blue cheese.
Jack: Ooh.
Reggie: Right?
Jack: Ow.
Reggie: No --
[Bianca laughs]
Lily: Reggie, look. Our dad's smiling without fingers.
Greenlee: You don't get to just run off after trying to ruin Ryan's career.
Kendall: Let go of the door.
Greenlee: In a hurry to catch up with your actor pal?
Kendall: You know, Greenlee, you are never more obnoxious than when you think you're right and you're dead wrong.
Greenlee: I didn't hire Orlando Bloom to play kid Cambias.
Kendall: Neither did I. I never saw Ethan before today. And he's got something that you will never have. It's called class.
Simone: Greenlee, you know, I could go after Ethan, find him, and worm, you know, the real story out of him.
Greenlee: Think "boardroom," Simone, not "bedroom." So, what's the next order of business?
Ryan: We're done for the night.
Greenlee: You're still the Cambias CEO?
Ryan: Unless Ethan can come up with the goods.
Mr. Thomas: Well, we'll have the birth certificate authenticated.
Jonathan: Or not.
Ryan: I want the letter, I want the ink used, I want it all time dated, all of it.
Kristina: Should the young man turn out to be the legitimate Cambias heir --
Ryan: How many times do you I have to tell you? You can kick back and you can relax. I will hand over the reins, I promise.
Greenlee: And my husband always keeps his promises.
Kristina: Good night, Ryan.
Ryan: Good night.
Mr. Thomas: Good to see you.
Ryan: Good to see you.
Mr. Thomas: Good night.
Simone: Ok, well, stick a fork in me. I'm done.
Ryan: Well, that was a lot of fun.
Jonathan: Let's not wait on the board. Let's do our own investigation.
Ryan: Slow down. Slow down.
Jonathan: No, we get a PI, we have this Ethan guy checked out. We take him to court. We make an example out of him in case there's going to be any other grandkids that pop up.
Ryan: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. All of a sudden this is all starting to make sense.
Greenlee: Ry, what is it?
Ryan: Something that Alexander Cambias said to me on his deathbed.
Aidan: See this? This is you.
Edmund: Ice cube? The name's already taken.
Aidan: You think Zach could be a killer and you're thinking that you might be the target, and you are cool and solid. I admire that.
Edmund: Never let them see you melt.
Aidan: You know, there's an expression in Tibet. "If you think a man is going to kill you, how long before you put a lock on your door?" Come on, it's a Zen thing. I'm sure you can relate, mate.
Edmund: I think that's maybe why I went and saw Zach on his own turf, in his office -- to put him on notice. He can come at me with everything he's got, but he's not going to take me down.
Aidan: What if we're wrong about Slater, Edmund?
Edmund: What do you mean? He's a really nice casino owner who's just out to help women and kiddies?
Aidan: What if Zach's only interest here in Pine Valley is Maria? Not you, not Bianca, not Erica. What if Ryan got it wrong?
Maria: What is Ryan wrong about? Hey, love.
Edmund: Hey.
Maria: How you doing? It's so nice to see you again.
Aidan: Hey.
Maria: I'm glad you're back from wherever it was you were.
Aidan: It's good to be back.
Maria: So, what was Ryan wrong about?
Edmund: Zach Slater, possibly. What drew him to town.
Aidan: Oh, we were just sifting through various scenarios and eliminating some.
Maria: Go on.
Edmund: Playing out others.
Maria: Do -- so you're helping him, then? You're helping him investigate the phone call that you overheard?
Aidan: Yeah, we're making a great team. It's just his brains and my -- what was it that I had again?
Maria: But do you -- ok, do you still believe that Zach Slater was one of the people on that call?
Aidan: His name was on the list of possible callers. I mean, we haven't ruled him out.
Edmund: Why do you ask?
Maria: Look, I know that you already told me no about this one time before, but I'm just -- I'm not going to take no for an answer this time because you and I are a great team, too, Edmund, and I really -- I want to help you do this.
Edmund: Do what?
Maria: Bring Zach Slater down.
Aidan: Whoa. Where did that come from?
Maria: It's just -- it's something that he said to me.
Edmund: Recently?
Maria: Tonight. I just left him.
[Knock on door]
Zach: Come on in. What have you got?
Mr. Collins: The meeting with Lavery just ended. I knew you'd want a report.
Zach: Talk to me.
Kendall: Oh, lucky number 17. Ok, I know you're going to ask me what I'm doing here or you're going to tell me to bugger off, and I don't blame you for being suspicious of my motives or you don't believe a word out of my mouth. I mean, here I am. I'm a complete stranger showing up at your door uninvited. But I swear to you -- I swear to God, I'm only here to help you.
Ethan: You seem to be having such a wonderful time talking to yourself, it seems rather rude of me to interrupt. Well, carry on.
Ryan's voice: Hey, you got to quit with that one-foot-in-the-grave bit, ok? You're not going anywhere.
Alexander: Oh, Ryan, please don't.
Ryan: No, don't -- don't what? You can't just give up.
Alexander: I'm not. I'm getting what I want.
Ryan: Alexander --
Alexander: Ryan, I don't have much time. You know what I need. My dying wish -- promise me you will keep it.
Greenlee: Ryan, where were you just now?
Ryan: I was in a Las Vegas hospital room, bedside of Alexander Cambias, promising to keep his dying wish. Which means that maybe Ethan is who he says he is -- the sole heir to the entire Cambias estate.
Jonathan: Whoa, whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa -- back up. I thought that giving it all to you was the old man's dying wish.
Ryan: Yeah, but there was a lot more to it than that, and I promised to keep it. Of course, I didn't know what that meant until Alexander passed on.
Greenlee: The codicil to his will.
Ryan: Mm-hmm. If there was a Cambias grandchild, then he or she would be in line to inherit everything.
Jonathan: That doesn't mean that there's a grandchild. I don't know -- I just think that the old man was covering his legal bases.
Greenlee: In the event that another Cambias was added to the family tree.
Ryan: Or had already been added.
Jonathan: That makes no sense. If the old man knew that there was a grandchild out there, why didn't he just plug him into the will?
Greenlee: Maybe his mind wandered at the end.
Ryan: No. No, his mind was a steel trap until he drew his last breath.
Jonathan: I think he was just hedging his bets.
Ryan: Well, you didn't know Alexander. He didn't gamble on the future, he grabbed it by the throat and he wrestled it to the ground. He had his own private reason for believing that a grandchild would appear and try to make a claim on his fortune.
Greenlee: Well, he did know that Michael raped Bianca.
Ryan: Right. But he didn't know about Miranda. I mean, when he rewrote his will, Bianca didn't even know she was pregnant.
Greenlee: In that letter from his birth mother -- Ethan's birth mother -- she was scared that Alexander was going to come and take Ethan and take him away.
Jonathan: I don't buy it. I mean, if he knew there was another Cambias grandchild out there -- and if there was one, ok -- that doesn't mean that this Brit is the kid with the million-dollar genes.
[Knock on door]
Kendall: Ok, now, in this neighborhood, you really should ask who it is before answering the door. I know. I used to live here.
Ethan: Thank you for the advice. Anything else?
Kendall: Well, you could invite me in for a spot of tea, whatever that is.
Ethan: Fresh out, I'm afraid.
Kendall: Ok. Great. Well, then maybe we can just talk.
Ethan: Oh, well, like you said, I have absolutely no reason to believe a word you say, so --
Kendall: Ethan, wait, wait! Wait, you're right. You're right not to trust anyone in this town. They don't know who you really are.
Ethan: I am the grandson of Alexander Cambias, Sr.
Kendall: I'm not talking about bloodline. Anyone can be somebody's heir. But I know how it feels to be nobody's kid.
Reggie, Bianca, and Lily: So let's root, root, root for the home team if they don't win it's a shame 'cause it's one, two three strikes you're out at the old ballgame
Bianca: Yay! All right!
Lily: Did you like it?
Jack: It was very good.
Reggie: You have some killer pipes!
Bianca: Uh -- Reggie means that you have a really great singing voice, Lily.
Lily: Thank you. So do you, Bianca.
Bianca: Thank you.
Reggie: Ok, go on, Bianca. Tell Reggie about his voice.
Bianca: Oh, Reggie, your voice is --
Reggie: All right. Don't be modest. Come on, pour it on -- black velvet.
Bianca: Uh -- not exactly. More like --
Lily: Reggie sounds like a frog with a sore throat.
Reggie: Oh. Ok, go on, laugh it up, people. All right.
Bianca: That's pretty accurate.
Erica: Ok, so, Reg, your voice isn't exactly like Luther Vandross.
Jack: No, but you do have a future in pest extermination.
Reggie: You know, on that note, I'm going to go take out the garbage.
Bianca: Oh! Snap! Hey, Lily, do you remember what you said about -- about finding a life jacket? Well, Reggie's green ketchup -- that was -- that was your life jacket, right?
Lily: What you call a nice save.
Bianca: Yeah, right, a nice save.
Lily: Did you find one? A life jacket?
Bianca: Yeah, I did.
[Door opens]
Bianca: It was right here in front of me the whole time.
Reggie: All right, my backup singers, we're going to go in the other room and watch the nature show. Remember?
Bianca: Right. Right.
Reggie: Right.
Bianca: "The Secret Life of Mealworms."
Lily: What's their secret?
Reggie: We have to go find out.
Bianca: Yeah, that's why we have to watch.
Jack: Well, they certainly beat a hasty retreat, huh?
Erica: "Secret life of mealworms."
Jack: Yes. Can you imagine such a show exists?
Erica: New reality show?
Jack: Very good. You know, I can get the jubilee choir back in here to do another number if -- if being alone with me makes you nervous.
Maria: Zach Slater is here for reasons known only to him, and I think that he's here for a whole lot more than just opening that casino.
Edmund: You mean, besides being attracted to you?
Erica: I can't remember when I felt this good.
Jack: So this isn't too much stress?
Erica: Stress? Laughing? Bratwurst? You know, I'm so grateful to you, Jack. And our family.
Jack: Our family? You just called Reggie, Lily, and Bianca our family?
Erica: Is there something wrong with that?
Jack: Oh, no. No, not at all. Not one blessed thing.
Greenlee: You know, Ryan, however this Cambias drama plays out, whatever will be, will be.
Ryan: Sounds like a song.
Greenlee: Should be.
Ryan: So those high-flying lessons really changed you, huh? Made you fearless.
Greenlee: Honey, it wasn't the trapeze work.
Ryan: Ok, so what's your secret to the ultimate cool?
Greenlee: Why get all worked up? I mean, what haven't we survived? You name it, we've gotten through it. Floods, dive down a rabbit hole. Wedding interruptus. Kendall 24/7. You think I'm going to sweat an unwanted heir? Lavery is primed and ready to rule the world! Bring it on!
Maria: I -- honestly, Edmund, I think that I'm just a sideline for Zach Slater. I -- and it doesn't matter because it's just a one-way thing, and -- look, if I can help you, Edmund, prove that he is the mystery voice and possibly the murderer on that call that you overheard, then I will do whatever I can to help you put him away.
Edmund: The problem is if the man on the phone plotting the homicide wasn't Slater, then who was it?
Kendall: Ethan, please, just -- just let me in and let's just talk, ok? I know how you feel. I know exactly how you feel. I've been there before. You feel shoved aside and forgotten, like one of the lost boys that no one thinks to come after. Just -- just let me help you, please.
Ethan: I don't need your bloody help.
Kendall: Then there's hope for you yet.
Zach: You failed to throw Lavery out on his ass?
Mr. Collins: Sir, something came up.
Zach: This better be good.
Mr. Collins: We were ready to take a vote on Lavery's ouster when we were interrupted by the arrival of a young man making all sorts of outrageous claims and demands.
Zach: What young man? Who is he?
Mr. Collins: Well, sir, he insists that he's the son of Alexander Cambias, Jr.

>> On the next "All My Children" --
Babe: You think J.R. is guilty.
Derek: Looks like he's shaking your boy down.
Tad: If he does, he'll find the wire.
Kendall: I want to prove Ethan's for real.
Zach: If Ethan is for real --
Kendall: Then Ryan loses Cambias and everything.
Ethan: Soon, Ryan, there will be no doubt.
Ryan: Well, I can't wait to see it.
