Zach: Evening primrose -- they surrounded our casita.
Maria: This has got to stop.
Zach: I didn't mean to startle you.
Maria: No, what are you even doing here at all? What do you want from me?
Zach: I have a proposal for you.
Bobby: Anita? You -- you have a good ride?
Anita: Always. It keeps my mind off of --
Bobby: Off what?
Anita: Off things I don't want to think about. Why are you here?
Bobby: I signed the consent forms on the divorce papers. It's done. It's -- it's what you wanted. You can have your divorce.
Kendall: Well, I figured you'd be home.
J.R.: What do you want, Kendall?
Kendall: Help me make Ryan and Greenlee's worst nightmare come true.
Ryan: Greenlee? Hey. Time to wake up, sleepyhead.
Greenlee: Hmm?
Ryan: Hey. You ready to start your day?
Greenlee: What time is it?
Ryan: It's time for your secret fantasy to come true.
Greenlee: Oh! You serve me breakfast in bed and wait on me hand and foot.
Ryan: Ha! You are a cheap date. No. It would spoil -- if I told you, it'd spoil the surprise.
Greenlee: I am excited and I don't even know what's going on.
Ryan: Well, I have been derelict in my husbandly obligations.
Greenlee: Well, we have a prenup that kind of puts the kibosh on that.
Ryan: Greenlee, last night, after you went to bed, I realized that I have totally bagged on our wedding promise. I'm, like, 20 surprises behind you right now and even that wouldn't begin to cover what I owe you.
Greenlee: Stop it, ok? It's been really rough lately. Kendall -- need I say more?
Ryan: But I promised you that Kendall wouldn't be an issue. Remember? I'm not going to let her mess with me or with us. Ok, I promise from this moment forward that she's not even on the radar. Deal?
Greenlee: You're the boss.
Ryan: Nuts?
Greenlee: I've been called worse. This is your idea of a well-balanced, nutritious breakfast?
Ryan: It's part of the surprise.
Greenlee: Oh. I'm supposed to guess, aren't I?
Ryan: Yeah. I stayed up half the night coming up with the clues and I spent all morning putting them together.
Greenlee: That'll teach me to sleep late. All right. The nuts are part of a clue. Is there jelly involved?
Ryan: Oh, man -- you are very good at this. Now, keep guessing.
Greenlee: Whoa! Color me excited!
Ryan: Ha.
Greenlee: Chalk, for playing hopscotch. And a hairnet, for that cafeteria-worker look that gets you so hot.
Ryan: Like not even on the planet. These happen to be fantasy essentials, Greenlee. Come on, now -- this is for fantasy prep and this is for fantasy safety.
Greenlee: My fantasy? Ryan, it's obvious that you put a lot of work into this, but is it possible that you don't know me really as well as you think?
Ryan: Just work with me, ok?
Greenlee: Whoo. Oh! "Butterflies are free."
Ryan: Exactly!
Greenlee: I don't get it.
Ryan: Well, there are a lot more clues, more hints for you to decipher. So you get your cute little butt out of bed because the Lavery fantasy hunt is on.
Kendall: I want to see Ryan and Greenlee in as much pain as possible.
J.R.: Well, you don't ask for much.
Kendall: Oh, come on. J.R., you're good at revenge. Help me out.
J.R.: What, you mean you don't have a plan already?
Kendall: Well, I tried seducing Ryan, stripped right down to my skin.
J.R.: I like it so far.
Kendall: Yeah, and all I got for it was naked.
J.R.: You know, I wouldn't cut yourself short.
Kendall: Then I even slept with his brother, but Ryan wouldn't let me see him sweat.
J.R.: Don't let Ryan fool you. Sleeping with the brother is -- is good for a world of pain.
Kendall: Well, then I thought I can get Greenlee to cheat on Ryan, so I offered Bobby Warner cash to seduce her, but suddenly Bobby's too self-righteous to play.
J.R.: You're for real about this?
Kendall: Yes, I am, but I'm all out of ideas, so I have come to you for inspiration. You won't let me down, will you, J.R.? Come on, you get me and you do owe me. I mean, when your life with Babe was on crash and burn, I was here for you.
J.R.: Yeah, I remember. I also remember you trying to snatch my baby.
Kendall: Well, that was a difficult time for all of us and I admitted it was a mistake.
J.R.: No, no, I'm sorry. It doesn't cut it.
Kendall: No, J.R., don't do this to me. Don't do this. I didn't turn my back when Babe dumped all over you. When she lied and cheated, I understood everything that you were going through.
J.R.: Thank you for the reminder, Kendall.
Kendall: You know, I know how it feels when the person that you love most in this world betrays you, J.R. I've been there. Now, it -- I totally support your decision to get back at Babe for everything that she's done to you. If you think she doesn't support Bess, great. Do whatever it takes -- I'm with you.
J.R.: You know, I don't really need your permission.
Kendall: True. You didn't need me to drug your wife or frame your brother, which is fine. Hey, I don't -- I don't expect you to admit it. Who am I to judge? I know what it's like. You want the person who has hurt you to feel the same pain, let them know what it's like to have their heart ripped out for once. J.R., we can't just suffer. We have to punish the people who hurt us.
Babe: J.R.? J.R.! Oh, my God, there you are!
J.R.: Babe --
Babe: Oh, my --
J.R.: Honey, what's wrong?
Babe: J.R., I had the worst -- I had the worst nightmare and you were there and you were in jail with Jamie.
J.R.: Shh.
Babe: It was so bad.
J.R.: It's ok, it's ok. The nightmare's over.
Babe: It was terrible.
Bobby: I -- I have a lawyer for all the formalities, but I'm not going to fight you on this. I already told him that you can have whatever you want -- well, whatever you need. You deserve it.
Anita: I don't want anything.
Bobby: I -- I paid back Palmer the debt that I owed him and after this investment cashes out, I should be clearing about a million, so you'll be getting most of that.
Anita: Why?
Bobby: From day one, you've done more than your share in this marriage. Every time you took the night shift while I was chasing one dream after another and all the times you saved up just enough money to, you know, put a down payment on a place of our own or a real vacation or whatever. I had my own plans and -- and you believed in them.
Anita: I -- I believed in you.
Bobby: But what I finally get is I didn't just blow all the money. I -- I stole something bigger from you -- your investment in our marriage and in me, and I am so sorry for all of the lies. I did the unforgivable and I cheated on the sweetest, most beautiful woman that I know and I can't expect you to forgive me for stealing your future but -- it was selfish, it was thoughtless, and it was wrong. And everything that I took, all those years that we were together, I want to give back to you now, whatever you want -- a house, a car that actually starts when you need it to. You deserve security in your life. But I -- I know it can't make up for everything, but it's all I got. I love you, Anita.
Anita: Bobby, wait.
Maria: I'm not interested in any proposal that you might have.
Zach: If you'd just hear me out --
Maria: I don't want to hear you out!
Zach: Maybe you will change your mind. You don't know.
Maria: Ok?
Edmund: Hey, you found her. I told Zach I thought you'd be out here.
Maria: Hey, honey.
Edmund: Hi.
Zach: Yeah, right where you said she'd be.
Edmund: Did he tell you?
Maria: Tell me what?
Edmund: About the proposal, for the fundraiser.
Maria: No.
Zach: For the Miranda Center. One of my guys broke down the specifics and here you go, have a look -- it might be useful.
Maria: Yeah, I'll take a look at it. Great.
Zach: Ok. I also am -- I'm looking for Bobby. He said he was coming up to see Anita.
Edmund: I haven't seen either of them.
[Phone rings]
Edmund: Oh. Excuse me. I got to take this call. Pardon me, ok?
Zach: It's ok. You misunderstood why I came.
Maria: No, I didn't misunderstand anything. You have no real interest in this fundraiser at all whatsoever. I don't -- you keep coming at me, Zach, and I do not know what you want from me.
Greenlee: Butterflies are free. Butterflies are free. Hmm. Is there a sports theme?
Ryan: Uh -- kind of.
Greenlee: I got it -- the net is a basketball net, chalk for drawing plays. You think my fantasy is coaching a women's professional basketball team called the Pennsylvania Butterflies and the nuts are in case I get the munchies.
Ryan: One, it's out of season, two, you hate basketball, and three, the Pennsylvania Butterflies?
Greenlee: Ok. How's this -- the net is a butterfly net which they're going to use to capture you and put you away?
Ryan: Is this a fantasy that you haven't shared with me?
Greenlee: Oh -- no. I like you crazy, but roaming free. I need another clue.
Ryan: Help yourself. Take a look around.
Greenlee: Well, how am I supposed to get a clue from something that's just lying around?
Ryan: If you were a butterfly, where would you be?
[Ryan coughs]
[Greenlee gasps]
Greenlee: Ryan?
Ryan: Hey, I can't do it all for you.
Greenlee: "Don't look down." Ok. Oh!
[Greenlee laughs]
Greenlee: I'm safe now.
Ryan: Don't look down.
Greenlee: "Butterflies are free" and "don't look down."
Ryan: Start packing.
Zach: Come on. I know you. If I wanted something from you, I'd ask you.
Maria: Yeah, and I know you, too, and I know you're not being honest. From the moment you stepped foot in this town, pretending like you were lost or whatever it was, you -- you haven't been telling the truth, and I don't know what you're up to and I don't know what you're trying to pull, but I do know that whatever you're trying to do is not going to work, so you really should just leave.
Zach: Can't walk away from my business.
Maria: Then walk away from me!
Zach: I remember seeing you this angry once before.
Maria: Oh, please! I don't want to trip down memory lane with you anymore!
Zach: You blew up at me for no reason. You remember it, too, don't you? It was our first fight. It was our only fight.
Maria: I just feel so cooped up in here. I can't spend every single day in this place like this! I need -- I need my space. I need, like, to feel like I can breathe, and I can't.
Zach: We've given each other nothing but space.
Maria: No.
Zach: No -- no questions, no promises?
Maria: No.
Zach: I thought you were happy!
Maria: Yeah, that's what you thought. It's all about what you think and what you want, and what about what I want? You don't care what I want and this is not me! This is not -- this is -- this is not going to work like this, Zach.
Zach: So what are you saying -- you're done with us?
Maria: I'm -- it's not going to work out, ok? I -- I feel like I need more. I need something else and I -- and I don't -- I don't know what it is!
Zach: Come here, it's all right.
Maria: No. No, no! I need to -- I need space. Please.
Zach: If you really want to go, just tell me.
Maria: No -- no, no, no! You're not listening to me.
Zach: Hey. And after we made love, you fell asleep in my arms. I can still feel your weight on my chest. You picked a fight with me on purpose because you knew you were leaving. You weren't angry with me then, you're not angry with me now. I'll tell you what -- I'll leave the proposal. You can use it or not, it's up to you. But if it's space you need, space I'll give you.
Edmund: Oh, I'm glad you're still here. I was wrong.
Zach: You were wrong about what?
Edmund: About Anita and Bobby. They're -- turns out they're in the stables. You remember the way?
Zach: Yeah, I think I do.
Edmund: Ok.
Zach: Thank you. Maria?
Maria: Bye. You know, I think that Anita and Bobby actually need some time alone right now.
Edmund: I just needed to get rid of him.
Maria: Why?
Edmund: So you and I could talk in private.
Maria: About what?
Edmund: Slater. Lay it out for me. Tell me everything you know about him.
Bobby: Is -- is there something wrong with the papers? Didn't I sign by all the Xs?
Anita: Yes.
Bobby: Then what am I waiting for?
Anita: What would you say if -- if I tore these up?
Bobby: Well, what would I -- well, I -- I'd be the happiest man on earth. And I would do everything that I could to make you happy, too. I -- I would take my first million and I would buy you that house with a huge porch and a garden, and I'd even buy you a minivan if that's what you wanted and -- and I'd start a college fund for our first child and our second and -- if you tore up those papers, I would start to show you just how much you mean to me. I swear to God, to you, to anyone who would listen, I would tell that I would never lie or hurt or betray you again.
Ryan: Close your eyes. Ok. Hold it, hold it.
Greenlee: You realize, of course, that me standing here with my eyes closed with you doing something with what seems to be a sharp object is the ultimate display of trust?
Ryan: I wouldn't have it any other way. Ok, open.
Greenlee: Ryan -- it's -- it's amazing! It's beautiful, thank you!
Ryan: Fantasy --
Greenlee: The green butterfly.
Ryan: Somebody give this woman a prize.
Greenlee: The chalk is for my hands, the net is in case I fall, and the nuts are for the elephants at the circus, to feed them. It's two of my childhood fantasies all wrapped up in one.
Ryan: And who says I don't listen when you talk?
Greenlee: I was going to be a trapeze artist, and I was going to call myself The Green Butterfly.
Ryan: What a coincidence!
Greenlee: God. I used to watch these amazing women in these sparkly, glittery costumes and they used to -- they used to fly through the air. I thought they'd go right to the top of the tent.
Ryan: And you being the wild child that you were thought that looked like a good time?
Greenlee: Well, when they let go of the bar, for that one split second, they're suspended in midair. I swear my heart used to stop just watching and then they would reach out and they would grab the other trapeze and all of the noise would rush back into my head again and I could breathe again.
Ryan: But you never actually tried it?
Greenlee: I tried it once, on the monkey bars. It wasn't pretty.
Ryan: Huh. Well, it's a good thing you are.
Ryan: Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages, I present to you the brave, the beautiful Greenlee Lavery, the magnificent flying green butterfly!
Greenlee: Oh --
[Greenlee giggles]
Ryan: Ha!
Babe: Kendall!
Kendall: Don't mind me.
Babe: J.R., why didn't you tell me you had company?
J.R.: Well, you --
Babe: I thought we were alone.
J.R.: You were upset.
Babe: Now I'm just embarrassed. Kendall, I'm -- I'm sorry.
Kendall: No, no, not at all. This is your home.
J.R.: Don't ever be embarrassed about interrupting me, especially if you're upset, huh?
Babe: You. Isn't he the best? But you know what? I am fine, I am just fine, so I'm going to let you two get back to whatever it is you were doing.
J.R.: Ok, well, while Kendall and I finish up, do something for me?
Babe: Of course.
J.R.: Think of something, I don't care how big or small, that I can do for you.
Babe: Anything?
J.R.: As long as it makes you smile.
Babe: Ok. Bye. See you.
J.R.: All right.
Kendall: Oh, my. Wow. For a minute there, I almost envied her devoted husband and happy marriage. You're good.
J.R.: Save the applause.
Kendall: God, it must be so hard to love that girl, to pretend to love that girl. I mean, after everything that she's done to you, all the lies and betrayals on top of more lies, all with that little blond perky thing that she does. Ugh, must make your skin crawl.
J.R.: I think of the payoff.
Kendall: I never knew you had such patience. Obviously, drugging her didn't do the trick. I can help, you know. You and me, we can get that little bimbette out of your hair if we just work together.
J.R.: Only if I help you with Ryan and Greenlee.
Kendall: J.R., you, and me -- we could make such a great team. I mean, we're coming from the same place. We're both determined to get payback no matter what it takes. You and me, we're perfect together.
J.R.: You know, you might be right.
Kendall: Almost always.
J.R.: Maybe you and me working together is exactly what we need.
Kendall: See? I knew you were too smart to pass this up.
J.R.: A match made in heaven.
Kendall: Mm-hmm. Partner? Why did you do that?
J.R.: Look at you. What man wouldn't? I'm not the same high school boy you used to kiss.
Kendall: No. No, you're not even close.
J.R.: You know, it's too bad. If I didn't have to pretend to be Babe's devoted husband, we could take this much further. But we got to stay focused.
Kendall: Right. Right, right, right, right -- we have to focus, focus.
J.R.: I know where to start -- Chandler Enterprises. Help me get it back.
Kendall: Away from Ryan?
J.R.: I almost had it. Ryan got wind of my move before I got to finalize it.
Kendall: So I make your next move possible?
J.R.: You work with Ryan every day. You can be my eyes and ears on the inside. You find the weak spot, I take advantage.
Kendall: Ok, well, a takeover works for you, but what's in it for me?
J.R.: Believe me, Ryan will suffer plenty when I get Chandler back. The Cambias board is going to want to incinerate him, they're going to question his competence, and it'll be just the beginning of his collapse.
Kendall: Ok, J.R., look, I will help you get Chandler back -- you deserve it. But Ryan's professional downfall -- it just doesn't cut it for me.
J.R.: Well, what else could you possibly want?
Kendall: I want to get Ryan and Greenlee where it hurts most -- on a more personal level. Hey, since Bobby's too pure, would you be up for seducing Greenlee? You obviously have the goods.
J.R.: We'll talk about phase two after you help me get Chandler back.
[Phone rings]
J.R.: J.R. Chandler. I need to take this. I've been waiting for this phone call all day. Um -- we'll get together, strategize?
Kendall: Sure. Wait to get back at Ryan and Greenlee? I've waited long enough.
Maria: Why ask me about Zach Slater?
Edmund: I have my reasons.
Maria: Ok, well, what are they? I mean, do you want to tell me --
Edmund: All right.
Maria: Where this is coming from?
Edmund: That phone call I just got -- guess whose name came up.
Maria: Honey, I don't know. Just, please -- will you just lay it out for me?
Edmund: Ok. Do you remember that cell phone call that I intercepted a couple of weeks ago, the one I'm investigating?
Maria: What does that threat have to do with Zach Slater?
Edmund: Palmer got me a list of all the calls made in that satellite cell area at that exact time. It was a long list, but Slaters number was on it.
Maria: Are you serious?
Edmund: Mm-hmm. Everything about that guy raises questions, don't you think? I mean, he shows up here one time, remember he's -- what does he say? -- He's lost, he's passing through, but then he sticks around. Mm-hmm. He sets up a business here? Now he's throwing money at a local charity? I mean, do you think he's trying to weasel his way into something?
Maria: Yeah, but how does that really connect to the phone call?
Edmund: Well, his business is gambling, a business with a connection to crime, organized and otherwise.
Maria: Yeah, but, I mean, do you really think he's -- do you think he's sticking around trying to ingratiate himself so he can pull off a murder?
Edmund: What I'm saying is it doesn't add up, ok? I'm going to look into it. I want you to be careful. I want you to watch yourself around him, ok?
Maria: Ok.
Edmund: Let me know if he does or says anything suspicious.
Maria: No, I'm not going to spy on him. No, I'm not going to do it!
Edmund: Why not? I mean, why would you protect the guy?
Bobby: You -- you sure about this?
Anita: The only thing I'm sure of is that I love you. When you handed me those papers, it was like I was shot in the heart. All I thought was if I lost you --
Bobby: I -- I know, I know. I felt it, too.
Anita: I -- I've been thinking a lot about us, about when we got married, what that was supposed to mean. In my head, it was like the ring and the license came with some guarantee that everything would be perfect, that nothing would go wrong. It never occurred to me that there would be risks.
Bobby: Well, anything worth having is always going to come with a risk.
Anita: Hmm. Every big gambler knows that.
Bobby: It's just the way it is.
Anita: Because we're -- we're human and we make mistakes. I -- I was looking for perfection and it doesn't exist. You made mistakes, you never pretended that you didn't, but I -- I made mistakes, too.
Bobby: I don't think we should start comparing here. I mean, your mistakes don't even hold a candle to what I did to you.
Anita: It's not ok that -- that you lied. The fact that you slept with someone else -- it still hurts like hell. But I -- I made mistakes, too. I -- I had expectations impossible for anyone to meet. You -- you've been telling me all the things that you would do different? Well, it's my turn. I need to change, too. I need to stop being so rigid, stop looking for perfection when love should be the most important thing. I -- I want to let go. I want to -- I want to take some risks with you. Can -- can we do that, Bobby?
Bobby: Yes. Yes, we can definitely do that.
Anita: Ok, so now what?
Bobby: Um -- we celebrate. Dinner. You -- you pick the restaurant. Somewhere fantastic.
Anita: Hey, and a -- and an amazing hotel afterwards?
Bobby: Yes.
[Pager beeps]
Anita: Oh. No, it's -- oh, it's going to have to wait till after my shift.
Bobby: Hmm! Say it isn't so.
Anita: I -- I'm sorry. I totally -- I forgot. I'm late already. You know what, though? I -- I'll -- I'll just -- I'll run in and I'll get somebody to cover for me.
Bobby: Ok, ok.
Anita: Ok?
Bobby: I'm making plans already.
Anita: All right. I'm going to ask for every favor that I can.
Bobby: Ok. Hey, hey -- I can't wait.
Zach: Hey, Bobby? I need your help with something. Convince me that you didn't steal from me.
Maria: I'm not protecting Slater. I just -- I think you're connecting some pretty far-off dots here, honey. I mean, you got a suspicious phone call and you got a stranger in Pine Valley. I mean, did the voice even sound like Zach?
Edmund: I don't know, it could've been. It was a little, you know, unclear. Wait -- you still think I'm overreacting, don't you?
Maria: Well, honey, I'm just saying, you know, to suspect a guy off of one phone call that was garbled to begin with --
Edmund: You think I'm obsessing over this phone call because I want to avoid dealing with my paralysis and my impotence. I'm obsessing about this phone call because there's a threat here and I'm not going to rest until I figure it out. You're not going to talk me out of this.
Zach: Come on, Bobby. Where is my money? $200,000 -- you know what I'm talking about.
Bobby: I can explain.
Zach: Of course you can.
Bobby: I -- I had a personal debt to pay, and it'll be back to you in a week, two tops.
Zach: You used someone else's money to pay a personal debt?
Bobby: Oh, come on. I borrowed against the investment. I mean, the money's coming in from San Diego any day.
Zach: Ok. But how are you going to pay me back now?
Bobby: Come on, Zach. You know I'm good for it. Just give me some time. It --
Zach: All right. All right. You got till the end of the day.
Bobby: Whoa, whoa -- what? I -- that's impossible!
Zach: Then make it possible, Bobby. You made a mistake, a big mistake! Nobody steals from me!
Bobby: Ok, but what do you expect me to do?
Zach: Fix it!
Bobby: I need more time!
Zach: Pay it back by the end of the day or you will lose more than just your job.
Greenlee: That was a great fantasy, Ryan. One of the best.
Ryan: Hey, whatever floats your boat.
Greenlee: Yeah, you know what? Even now, I'd do it. Wouldn't it be great just to leave all the drama behind? Tell Kendall to take a hike and join the circus?
Ryan: You want to?
Greenlee: Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, like I said --
Ryan: As long as they're in town.
Greenlee: You got tickets?
Ryan: Come on! Greenlee, did you really think that I was going to stop halfway? Now, you are going to feel what that moment is like -- you know, the moment in between the two trapezes when everything stops? Because you are having a private lesson with the great trapezeena underneath the big top.
Greenlee: No!
Ryan: And after you, you know, learn how to fly, I'll probably go buy some more peanuts and something wet to wash it down with, I'm going to park myself in the bleachers and I am going to cheer on the magnificent green butterfly and watch her fly through the air with the greatest of ease.
Greenlee: Oh. Ryan, I love you!
J.R.: I'm giving you the inside track here. Chandler Enterprises and myself will be very grateful once it's back where it belongs. Good. Just have the funds in place when I say the word. I'll send the paperwork. We'll talk. All right, bye.
Babe: So, what was that about?
J.R.: Just trying to stay busy, stay out of trouble. You look like you're feeling better.
Babe: Tons. So, I thought about what you said and I came up with something that will make me happy. I know exactly what I want.
J.R.: Name it.
Babe: Another baby.
Ryan: I love you, too.
Greenlee: You do?
Ryan: Mm-hmm. I love you for sharing your little-girl dreams, for making the payoff as fun to give as it was to get, and for making me forget everything that's been dragging me down. And for thinking I'm crazy and loving me anyway. And I love you for being the one friend with whom I can share these crazy adventures with and not feel crazy. Come on, let's go join the circus.
Greenlee: Oh!
Bobby: I know these things take time, but just don't do this to me. Puggy? Pug-- Puggy?
[Dial tone]
Bobby: Son of a --
Kendall: You should've called me. Hmm. Money problems, huh? Well, wouldn't this be the perfect time for you to rethink my offer?
Maria: Zach? Who did you come here to kill?
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Brooke: Why wouldn't you use any means at your disposal to defend my son?
Tad: Because you know something, something ugly about J.R.
Kendall: Seducing Greenlee will be the sweetest buck you ever made.
Zach: Truth is I lied to you. I'm here because of you.
