All My Children Transcript Wednesday 11/7/01 >> Previously on "All My Children" -- Chris: You've been asking some questions about your father. I've got answers. Tad: This isn't a lockdown for the reality-challenged. That's one psychotic who's not going to bother anybody for a long, long time. Jesse: She's here. The crazy broad is here. Laura: Oh, God, Leo, what does she want from us? Greenlee: Please. You dropped something down my gorilla suit to make me take my head off. Laura: Leo, she is insane. Greenlee: I'm insane? Vanessa: Really, Darling, couldn't you come up with something slightly more alluring? Leo: Mother, what are you doing? Vanessa: Well, I'm trying to help, dear. Leo: Well, don’t. Vanessa: Well, I just want to make certain your rehearsal party isn't a failure, you know. Laura: She's not trying to spoil it, Vanessa, she's here to hurt me. Will someone please call the police? Greenlee: Don't buy that act she's laying out for a second, okay? She is up to so many tricks, she could work for a magician. Laura: Leo, make her stop. Greenlee: Shut up, Laura! I sent a letter to your condo that explains everything. Leo: About what? Greenlee: About how I was set up by her. She's trying to make me look like a stalker. Leo: And I'm supposed to believe anything that you have to say to me, Greenlee? Greenlee: It's not just the letter, it's proof. Once you see it, you'll believe me. She sent me a forged note asking me to come here. She signed your name. She set me up, Leo, I swear to it on my life. Ryan: What do you know about my father, Stamp? Chris: Look, no offense, but we need to do this in private. Ryan: No, anything you think you know you can say right here in front of Mia. Chris: Look, if you knew what I had to say -- Ryan: Just cut the crap and tell me what you know! Chris: What I have to say is extremely sensitive. It involves a lot of people -- your dad, the FBI Mia: The FBI? Ryan: What? Chris: Yeah, look, why don't we just go outside for five minutes and let me explain. Ryan: No, no, no. Mia: Ryan, don’t. Ryan: You tell me what you know right now or I'm going to call the feds myself, do you understand me? Jesse: Tad? Tad? Oh, come on, Tad, get up. Leslie: Here comes the bride Jesse: Tad, open your eyes, man. This freak is trying to kill you. Leslie: All dressed in white Jesse: Tad, look, there's nothing I can do to help you out here, all right? I'm completely drained. I mean, this is taking too damn long. I'm so stressed, Tad. I'm stressing out, Tad. Tad, wake up! Leslie: Oh, let's see. Still beating. Good. Jesse: Tad? Tad? Tad, why'd you have to go messing with this woman? Dude, open your eyes and take care of this situation before it's too late. Leslie: Lover, I'm ready. Jesse: Tad. Tad. Tad. Leslie: I think you need more rope. Jesse: Tad. Tad, open your eyes, man. Tad, open your eyes and defend yourself. Tad! Hey. [Tad mumbles] Jesse: Oh, God, it's about time, man. Tad: Oh, God. Jesse: Wake up! Tad: My head is killing me. What happened? Jesse: It's your brand-new little missis, Leslie. Are you cozy over there, by the way? Tad: Where is she? Jesse: She's right out the front door, stuck on stupid, looking for new rope, man. Tad: Don't just lie there. Help me get untied! Jesse: What, you think I'm here for my health? I can’t. I can't make anything happen, man. I am seriously compromised here. You're going to have to do this yourself. Tad: Jesse, I can't move. Jesse: Hey, you can't move, I can't move. Let's form a club. I'll be president, you be the fool. Tad: Don't make jokes. What the hell are we going to do? Jesse: Just keep working the rope. Tad: I told you I can't move. Can you at least go for help? Jesse: Look, I'm trying to recharge here, okay? I'm storing up to, uh, make a move. Tad: Well, maybe you should move now, or at least soon before the psycho hose princess comes back. Jesse: Just -- okay. I'm going to try this. Tad: You can do this. Jesse: I can do this. I can do this. Tad: Come on, Jesse. Jesse: That hurt. Tad: That's not good. Brooke: This woman is in direct violation of an oath made to Judge Cates. Greenlee: Brooke, stay out of this. You don't know what's going on. Brooke: Officer? Officer: Maybe we should go get some air. Greenlee: Look, Leo, I'm not yanking your chain here. I swear to you I have proof. Laura set me up and she wants me gone. I didn't want to do it this way, but I didn't have a choice. Leo: Greenlee, this has to stop. Greenlee: No, listen to me. Laura doesn’t just want you, she wants me to disappear, permanently. Laura: You are so pathetic, Greenlee. Greenlee: Please. I know you know who I am inside. [Music plays] Leo: You're in a gorilla suit, Greenlee. You expect me to believe anything that you say? Greenlee: Just look inside and see who I am, see me. I know you do, Leo. I know you do. Leo: You're right. I do see inside you. And you are the most pathetic woman that I've ever known. I just never knew it. Greenlee: No. Leo: I went to bat for you in court, and you pull this? Greenlee: Call Jake. Jake knows about the setup. Call him, he'll tell you everything. Leo: I told the judge that you didn't deserve to go to jail, Greenlee, that it was a mistake and that this was over. You gave us your word that you were going to stay away from Laura, and you show up here the night before our wedding and you pull this stunt? Greenlee: It's not a stunt, Leo. Leo: Enough! Stop it! It's over! Ryan: Just tell me what you know about my father or get out! Chris: You need to calm down. Just back off. Look, I didn't know you were his son until the day your mother died. Ryan: What? Chris: I was with you the day you found out. Remember? I came back here and then you showed me that picture. Mia: The one of his parents together. Chris: Right. I looked at it and that's when I recognized your father. Ryan: So, what, you -- you knew him back then or -- Chris: Then? No. No, I -- I didn't know him personally. I -- I just started to put things together. It was a little bit confusing at first because the both of you had different last names. Ryan: Yeah, I changed mine. Chris: Yeah, well, I found that out, too. Ryan: So, what, are you like a detective or something? What's going on? Chris: Look, I just thought that you needed to know. Ryan: No, you didn't want me to know anything. Chris: No, Ryan, you don't -- Ryan: Listen, you just tell me how I can find the bastard, okay? Chris: You can't find him. Mia: What are you trying to do to him? Why don't you tell him how he can find his father? Chris: He can't find his father! Your -- your father's dead, Ryan. I'm sorry. Mia: Ryan -- Ryan: No, no, no. He's lying. You're lying. Chris: I wouldn't lie about this. Ryan: Why are you here? Why are you doing this? Why are you around me, telling me these lies, trying to mess with me? I mean, you got to have a reason. What's the reason? What are you getting out of this? Chris: Look, just -- I'm sorry that I had to be the one to give you this information, okay? I just thought that it's better if you knew. Ryan: No, no, no, I would know if my father was dead. I would know that. Chris: No, I told you because you needed to know. Ryan: And then why all of a sudden did you think that I needed to know? Chris: Because I overheard you. I overheard you say that you were leaving town to go look for your father and I couldn't let you do that, especially when I knew he was already dead. Do you understand me? I knew what you'd be up against. And the situation would only get worse. Ryan: Worse? How exactly? Mia: Ryan, just let him tell you what he knows. I mean, he's got no reason to lie to you. Ryan: No, no, no, wait, wait, wait, Mia, if my father was dead, then my mother would've known that and she would've told me. Mia: Maybe she knew and she kept it from you. Ryan: No. No, I mean we weren't exactly close, but she wouldn't do that to me. Chris: Ryan, your mother didn't know, either. We weren't able to locate the next of kin. Ryan: "We"? Who's "we," Chris? Chris: The FBI I mentioned earlier that the feds were involved. Ryan: Wait a minute, what -- what are you saying? Chris: I'm an agent with the bureau and I'm working undercover here in Pine Valley. Vanessa: Leo, darling, just make sure, darling. I don't want you to -- Leo: Mother, if you don't stop talking, I'm going to throw you out of here myself. Simone: Do you know these people? Dixie: Kind of. Why? Simone: Well, they're all nuts. Greenlee: Leo, Leo, Leo, I am not making this up. Do you think I'd risk my reputation and any dignity I have left in a gorilla suit? That I'd come here with some made-up story about a setup? Laura sent me a note signed by you to meet you here tonight. Laura: You are such a liar. Greenlee: And you are such a bad one! I knew it was a fake because the handwriting wasn't quite right, and, really, like you'd ask me to come to your wedding rehearsal to tell me something important? You'd want to see me alone. She doesn't know you like I do, obviously. Edmund: Greenlee, this is getting a little out of control. Greenlee: Oh, don't you think that I know it? I'm trying to prove a point to you thickheaded people! This bride-to-be is framing me, setting me up, and trying to get Leo to make a public commitment to her before she starts singing Christmas carols at the top of the Chandler Enterprises in the nude! Now come on, Leo, I know you better than this. Officer: I'm Ofc. Stroupe. I have a warrant for the arrest of Greenlee Smythe. Greenlee: You have a what? How the hell did you find out -- Brooke: When I saw you I called Judge Cates and she issued a warrant. Greenlee: You stupid woman. I am not harassing anyone. I'm trying to prove that I'm being framed! Leo: Greenlee, you brought this on yourself. Greenlee: Leo, no. Ofc. Stroupe: Come on. Greenlee: Get your hands off me, bucko. I'm not going anywhere with you. Okay, I messengered a letter to your apartment in a black envelope. Go and look at it, okay? It's got everything in there in advance. Ofc. Stroupe: Let's go. You have the right to remain silent -- Greenlee: And listen to me, you'll know! Jesse: Man. I used to be able to do that. Doors, walls, steel. I used to be able to do it all, man. This is -- look at me, man, this is pathetic! Tad: Help, please? Jesse: How? The goods are gone, Tad. Tad: Well, you'd better think of something quick. Leslie: Look at the cornucopia your ex-wife left behind for our wedding bower. Tad: She's not my ex-wife. Leslie: By the way, who were you talking to just now? You're not going loony on our wedding day, are you? Tad: Jesse, the door's open, go. Leslie: I think I must've hit you a little too hard. You're hallucinating. Leslie: But then maybe that's best for a couple of crazy kids like us. We're going to be so happy together, don't you think? Tad: Leslie? Leslie: Yes, lover? Tad: You are crazy. Leslie: I know. Isn't it great? Tad: This isn't going to work. Leslie: I know what you're thinking. Tad: No, you don’t. Leslie: You're thinking, "Poor Leslie took me hostage once before and I talked her out of it with the promise of a prom. Maybe this time I'll promise her a honeymoon in Aruba and it will work." Sorry, Tad. You see, the last time I thought I needed you to agree to what I wanted. I thought I needed you to want me like I want you. Well, you know what I found out when I was in therapy for all those months? That I don't need you to be anything but dead. So -- [Knock on door] Tad: Help! Leslie: See, this is going to be a totally private ceremony. [Tad mumbles] Leslie: Okay? Now you behave -- [Knock on door] Leslie: And I'm going to go find out who this is. [Knock] Leslie: What do you want? Girl: Hi, we're in the Pine Valley High band. Leslie: Really? I was in the band, too. Girl: Seriously? Leslie: What, don't I look like I could be in the band? Girl: What did you play? Leslie: Triangle. Actually, I was good, too. Girl: Oh, all right. Well, we're selling these candy bars -- Second girl: To raise money for new uniforms. Leslie: What's wrong with the old ones? Girl: They're old. Leslie: Oh, you kids are so freaking spoiled. What kind of candy? Oh, nuts. Good. Got any money? Tad: Hmm? [Tad mumbles] Leslie: Shh! Tad: Mmm! Mmm! Leslie: Here. Girl: What's that noise? Leslie: Oh, that's just my fiancé. Any more questions? Good. Get lost. Oh, that was fun. But you have not been good, so we're going to have to do this the hard way. Leslie: I know. I don't know the best way to get you in here, either, but I'm going to give it my best shot. Okay. Now help me out here, lover. Tad: Uh-uh. Leslie: Come on. Tad: Uh-uh. Leslie: Help me out, I'll give you some candy; come on. [Tad mumbles] Ryan: You expect me to believe that you're a fed? Chris: Look, I don't expect anything from anyone right now. Ryan: Listen to you. Chris: But that's the truth. And so is -- so is what I said about your father. I'm sorry. I truly am. Ryan: How did he die? Chris: You sure you, uh -- you're ready to do this now? Ryan: Oh, I think I have the time. How about you, Mia? You have the time? Mia: Ryan, you're in shock. Maybe we should just get -- Ryan: Maybe we should do this right now. Chris: No, no, no, why don't you just listen to -- Ryan: Why don't you tell me how my father died? Chris: I don't know how much you knew or how much you know about your father, but he was a well-known and not a very successful drug dealer. Ryan: Yeah, I heard that. So, what, the feds got scent of it and went after him? Chris: Correct. Ryan: And? Chris: Well, the bureau kept him under surveillance for quite a long time. Although he was operating on a small scale, they believed that he would lead them to a bigger sting, and eventually he did. He was about to make the deal of his life. A large shipment of Colombian cocaine came in. Deal was about to go down and that's when we moved in. Ryan: And he was there? Chris: Yeah, he was there. He was there and we caught him and everybody else off guard and they all surrendered. But your father -- when the agent was about to cuff him, he went for the agent's gun. A struggle ensued. Gun went off. Your father -- he was killed instantly. I'm sorry. Laura: Oh. Thank God Greenlee is out of our lives for good. She scares me. Leo: You okay? Really? Laura: I am now. And I'm not going to let Greenlee scare me anymore. I have you; I have my life. And as long as I have you by my side, I can face anything. She tried to ruin this party tonight, and I bet she has a plan to ruin tomorrow, but that's not going to happen. Leo: Uh-uh, no. Laura: You don't believe her, do you? Leo: What? Laura: Greenlee. About the letter, that it's real? Leo: No. Laura: That I wrote it or -- or lured her here, tried to set her up? Leo: No, I'm sure she wrote it and tried to frame you. Laura: Yeah. Yeah, she just tries to make me look bad. Leo: You know, I don't want to talk about it right now. I think I need some air. Laura: Leo, I'll go with you. Leo: No, no, just -- I think I need to go alone. You'll be okay, right? Laura: Yeah, I just -- you'll -- you'll be home tonight, right? Leo: Of course. Where else would I be? Vanessa: Well, hello, Dixie. Dixie: Hello, Vanessa. Vanessa: Tad seems to have missed the entire party and all of the excitement, as well. Dixie: So has Uncle Palmer, it seems. Vanessa: Hmm. Yeah, well, he decided to leave a bit early. Dixie: He has an odd tendency to do that, doesn't he? Vanessa: Darling, do you mind if I ask you a personal question? Dixie: Well, you can ask, but I might not answer. Vanessa: Hmm. You and Tad aren't having, well, problems again, I trust? Dixie: Now is that a question or a statement? Vanessa: Well, actually -- Dixie: It's actually none of your business. Vanessa: Then there is a problem because, you know, your Uncle Palmer would want to know if there's any -- Dixie: You know, there's not a problem. Okay? And I'm just telling you that so you don't start a fire that I'm going to have to put out later. Vanessa: Of course, darling, of course. So, where is Tad? Jesse: Move, you. Dixie? Dixie? Well, I -- this is going to feel a little strange -- well, if I'm lucky it'll feel strange. Dixie, it's me, Jesse. Dixie? Dixie: My God. Jesse: Yes. Yes, I'm coming through. Hey. Vanessa: Is there a problem, dear? Jesse: Lady, would you shut up, get off my wavelength? Dixie? Dixie: No, it's not a problem, Vanessa. [Dixie and Vanessa scream] Ryan: Why didn't you tell me about all this when you -- when you saw the photo, when you found out Patrick Curry was my father? Chris: I wished I could've, Ryan, but I didn't have a choice. I'm working undercover here in Pine Valley, and far too many people know about that already, now you two. Look, I'm going to have to ask you both not to compromise my position. Don't talk about this to anyone. Mia: This is unreal. Ryan: Yeah, I'm going to have to speak with the agents that were there the day my father died. Well, you can't expect me to take your word for it, can you? Chris: No, I didn't -- I didn't think you would, so I called in a few favors, spoke to some old colleagues of mine. This is a lot more information than you should have. And when you're through with it, I want you to burn this. Ryan: Don't, don't. Don’t. All right, my old man hated me from the day I was born. I'm not exactly broken up about him dying like the coward he was. So you did it. You came here and you told me what you needed to tell me. You can go now. Chris: I thought you deserved the truth. Ryan: I said you can go. [Tad groans] Leslie: Oh. You're a big fellow, aren't you? [Tad mumbles] Leslie: Oh, you know what? Oh, I think that all men should go to the altar like this -- tied up so they can't fight back, gagged so they can't talk back, and flat on their backs so they can't -- all right, well, whatever. Anyway, there's one last thing that you have to do for me before we tie the knot and become joined together forever. You have to leave a message for the little missis. You're going to tell her that you're at work and that you won't be home till very, very late. Okay? Tad: Ow. Leslie: Oh, did that smart? I'll kiss it for you later. All right. [Phone rings] Leslie: Now start talking. Tad: No. [Phone disconnects] Leslie: No? Tad: Yeah. No. Leslie: Oh, Tad. I don't think you have the upper hand about now, do you? Tad: Leslie, if you think I'm going to go along with you for one second -- Leslie: What, I'm crazy? That's already been determined, okay? See this? Remember when I hit you with it the first time? Tad: Ah! Leslie: I wasn't trying to kill you then. Right? Yeah, when I sneak up behind Dixie, I won't be so gentle. Capisce? Now, I'm going to dial this phone, okay, to your machine, so I don't want you to get all excited when you hear it ringing, okay? [Phone rings] [Answering machine beeps] Leslie: Start talking. [Beep] Leslie: Listen, you'd better tell Dixie or I will tell her myself, up close and personal. Jesse: Okay, that's good, that's good. Now, Dixie, tell your little friends that you got to go home and change, okay? Dixie: Vanessa, that glass was just sitting on the bar a minute ago, right? I wasn't imagining things, I mean, am I? Vanessa: I don't think I understand it. You mean, it -- it just started to move like it had a mind of its -- we were just talking. Jesse: It had my mind, all right, and I'm losing it really fast here. Dixie, go home! Dixie: Well, I can't just stand around here looking like this. Vanessa: Of course, dear. Here you go. Dixie: Oh, thank you. Vanessa: Well, I'll see you later at the wedding. Dixie: Oh, yes. Yeah, right. Vanessa: With Tad, of course. Dixie and Jesse: Of course with Tad. Jesse: Now what? Dixie: Laura? Hi. I'm so sorry. I just made a mess of myself and I can't stay, but it was a really wonderful party, okay? Laura: Uh-huh. Dixie: Listen, you get a nice night's sleep and I'll see you tomorrow. Jesse: Come on, Dixie! Susan: Hi. How you holding up? Laura: Where'd he go, Susan? Susan: Oh, you know, to go see her. Laura: You think Leo went to see Greenlee? She was arrested. Susan: Yeah, I caught that. Laura: I have to -- I have to go there. You think he went to the police station to see her in jail? Susan: Okay, listen, girlfriend, that would be the least of your problems. You need to get yourself home and get that letter she was talking about because if she has what she says she has on you, there's not going to be a wedding to worry about. Brooke: Hey, Sweetie, people are beginning to say good night. You want to go? You ready to leave? Laura: Uh-huh. Let's go. Brooke: Is she okay? Susan: Yeah, she will be. Edmund: Excuse me. Susan: Yeah. Edmund: Uh -- I'm going to check on Anna in the hospital. You okay with that? Brooke: Yeah, that's okay. Why? Edmund: Just -- just take care of Laura, all right? I'll catch up with you later. Brooke: Okay. I will be so glad when we've seen the last of Greenlee Smythe. Greenlee: What's that? Ofc. Stroupe: Prison issue. Greenlee: Are you for real? Ofc. Stroupe: Gee, this from a woman in a gorilla suit. Greenlee: Ah! This is not happening to me. It's not. I am not stuck in jail in a gorilla suit with nothing but a disgusting orange jump suit to change into. I'm not. I'm not losing Leo to that wench for good. Greenlee: I'm not. Right? He didn't believe a word I said. He said I was selfish. I am, but not about this. Greenlee: What did I do wrong? Why couldn't he just look into my eyes and know I wasn't lying? Singer: I've been thinking about you and me maybe I was just seeing what I wanted to see well, you can call me crazy, but you know, this time I swore that I wouldn't run but I can't do that anymore I can't find my way to stay and I can't see my way to go I can't give up without a fight cut myself clean in a matter of minutes clear from every tie my whole world all the things in it are hard to hard to find everything changed in a matter of minutes nothing was saved in time my whole world all the things in it are hard to find but they never, never never were mine Brooke: You know, she may have been lying about the letter. You don't know. Susan: Absolutely. Brooke: She's impossible. Susan: And thorough. Laura? What are you going to do? Greenlee: I did this to myself. I crossed the line and I did this to myself. It's -- it's too late. I've lost everything. I've lost everyone. God, I even lost myself. Mia: Ryan? I can't even tell you how sorry I am about all this. Ryan: I wasn't close to him. Mia: Well, I know, but you've had so much loss this year. I just -- I don't even know what you're supposed to do with all of it. Ryan: It's not right. Mia: No, no, it really isn’t. Ryan: No, no, no, I mean, it's not right with Stamp. Mia: But, Ryan, I believed him. Ryan: I barely even know this guy. Why would he risk blowing his cover by telling me all this now? Mia: Well, he heard you were headed out of town to look for your father and he couldn't just sit on it. Ryan: Yeah, well, why does he care what happens to me? What's it matter to him if I go on some wild-goose chase for a dead man? Mia: Ryan, you may be reading too much into this. What? Ryan: Wait a minute. Mia: Is that the file that Adam had compiled on you? Ryan, please. Ryan: Wait, wait, wait, Mia, there's something wrong here. These don't match. Jesse: Oh, no. Oh, no. Look at the mess, Dixie. I mean really look at it. Something is wrong. Dixie: Look at this mess. Something's wrong. Jesse: Yes. Come on. Come on. Dixie: Oh, I told J.R. and his friends if they left their stuff around -- it's not fair. Jesse: J.R.? Come on, it's not J.R. It's not J.R. or his hoodlum friends. Dixie, come on, this is the demon, Leslie Coulson! That's it, you heard. I'm getting through. Come on, baby. Come on, come on, you can do it. Listen to me -- Leslie Coulson. What are you doing? What are you doing? [Answering machine beeps] Tad's voice: Yeah, hi, Sweetheart, it's me. I'm still at the office. Uh, looks like something is up -- something's come up down here. I -- I may have to go away. I - I love you very much. [Beep] Dixie: Fine. You can clean up this mess and miss the wedding for all I care. [Tad mumbles] Leslie: Don't rock the boat, baby. You might fall in. All right. Let's rock 'n' roll. |
