>> Previously on "All My Children" -- Hayley: We swore above all else that we would be honest to each other. Mateo: I'll tell you everything. But I can't do it here. I'll tell you at home. David: I may begin to start trusting you. Anna: And then what? Greenlee: You lied, and you know why. You did it because you love me. Leo: It's going to be okay. I'm going to handle Greenlee. Laura's voice: No, I will. David: What's that smile for, Devane? Anna: I just noticed that you still have my tracking device in your medical bag. David: And? Anna: I'm a bit curious. David: You mean, why didn't I get rid of the little bugger? Anna: Exactly. David: Well, it isn't every day that a man has a beautiful woman of international mystery tailing him. Anna: You like being followed? David: By you, definitely. It's kind of a turn-on, waiting to see if you catch me at anything bad. Anna: Will I? David: You just might. You have to keep following me. David: The shower's free. Anna: Oh, damn. I should have joined you. David: I didn't want you to catch me with my pants down. Anna: It's a bit late for that. [Shower runs] David: Yeah, it's me. I got your message. What's going on? I'm kind of surprised he's giving us a problem right now. I'll handle it. Fast. Leo: Jackson. Jack: Leo, I just met with your attorney. Leo: Yeah, where is she? Jack: She's in chambers with the judge right now. I imagine she'll be there a while. Leo: Okay. Well, I'll wait, then. Jack: She tells me you still plan to bring charges against Greenlee. Leo: Mm-hmm. I am. Jack: Can I give you a little advice, off the record? Leo: Sure. Jack: Think really long and hard before you set these wheels in motion. Leo: I have. Jackson, why do you think I've taken it this far? Jack: I don't know. Frankly, Leo, that's a question I've been asking myself. Leo: What is that supposed to mean? I'm protecting my wife. Jack: Are you really? Leo: Yes. Jack: Are you sure you're not protecting yourself? Laura: Mom. You missed it. I was in my gown. I had -- I had a fitting. Brooke: Laura, what's going on? Laura: What do you mean, what's going on? Brooke: Well, when I came in, I heard you talking to yourself -- or, well, to Bianca. Honey, she's not here. Laura: I know she's not here. I was -- I was just about to write in my journal about an annoying conversation I had with Bianca just a little while ago, and I was sort of acting it out or venting to see if it would make me feel better. Brooke: Did it? Laura: No. Mom, I asked Bianca to be my maid of honor, and -- and she was so cold. Brooke: She said no? Laura: In a really mean way. She hates me. I don't think it has anything to do with the way I wasn't attracted to her before. I think it's because -- because of Greenlee. Greenlee: I'm not sure we should have come out of our little love nest, even if it was to eat. Jake: Well, it was nice, right? Greenlee: It was, Jake. You were -- you are -- Jake: Uh-uh. Uh-uh. Please, don't call me sweet. Greenlee: What do you want me to call you? My hot little sex machine? Jake: I could answer to that. [Pager beeps] Jake: Oh. See, I knew, being this good, it wasn't going to last too long. Greenlee: Oh, it's okay. You didn't get called when we were occupied. Jake: Listen, I got to run to the E.R. I need you to do something. Order some food, eat it, go straight home. Greenlee: Yes, Daddy. Jake: No, I mean it. I mean it, Greenlee. Really, I don't want you to run a risk of running into Laura or Leo. If you see them, you leave. No matter how tempting it is. I'll handle it, okay? Greenlee: Do you have a plan? Jake: I might. Greenlee: Really? What is it, my hot little sex machine? Simone: You going home before we're closed? Mateo: Just want to spend time with my wife and kid. Simone: You mean you want some time to tell Hayley the truth about Proteus. Mateo: I can't keep lying to my wife. She knows me she knows when I'm hiding stuff. And I think it would be better if I tell her everything so she knows how to be safe around here. She wouldn't be wondering why I'm acting so erratic. Simone: She's going to tell you to take yourself out of the game. What wife would want her husband to be involved in a drug ring, even if he plans to blow it open? Mateo: I shouldn't be involved in the first place. Simone: You know, this is a really bad mistake to do this right now. I mean, do you understand -- [Phone rings] Mateo: SOS. Man: [Distorted voice] Careful, Mr. Santos. Mateo: Listen -- Man: I need the first transfer of nice, clean, laundered money by next Wednesday, just the way you've been told to. Simone: Please don't tell me that you slammed the phone down on your contact. Mateo: I'm not taking orders from them anymore. Simone: Excuse me? Mateo: No. From now on, they take them from me. Anna: You're supposed to be waiting for me naked in bed, Hayward. David: Got to go out. Anna: Wait. Wait. David: No, sorry, can't wait. Just close the door on the way out. Bye, ms. Bond. Anna: Well, wait, where are you going? Wait, wait. [Phone rings] Anna: What? Chris: Now, that's a fine how do you do. Anna: I don't have time for chitchat, Stamp. Chris: Need to see you. Anna: I'm seeing someone. Please don't be desperate. It's very unattractive. Chris: Be at SOS within the hour. Anna: SOS? Why? So you can ply me with blue-colored drinks and pump me for information on Hayward? Uh-uh. Chris: If you don't come there, Anna, I'm going to come get you. Anna: What? Wait, wait, oh! Bloody men. Anna: Oh! Brooke: You actually think that Greenlee turned Bianca against you? Laura: I really do. I mean, Bianca let it slip that she and Greenlee have gotten closer. They've been talking about me. Brooke: But I thought Bianca and Greenlee didn't get along at all. Laura: Well, they do now. But get this -- Greenlee actually convinced Bianca that I was the one who was flirting with her just to get closer to Leo. Mom, this goes back so far. I've even -- I keep remembering how Greenlee pushed me off the yacht last year. I mean, that's how far this goes back. I was just dancing with Leo that night. We hardly even knew each other. And already she felt threatened by me. Brooke: Honey, I'll take care of this, and so will Leo. You know what? I actually -- I just did a quick trip over here because I thought I could catch you in your wedding gown. But I have to get back to the office. Laura: Mom, you didn't even say anything about my veil. Brooke: Oh, Honey, it's beautiful. And you're beautiful in it. And I want you to have everything that you've ever wanted in your life and all the love. Laura: Just tell me that everything's going to be fine, that this wedding is going to happen, and nothing will ruin it. Brooke: Nothing and no one is going to ruin your wedding day, Laura. All right, listen, I'll speak to you tomorrow morning. Laura: Okay. Brooke: Okay? Laura: Thanks, Mom. Brooke: I have to get back to work. You are beautiful. Laura: Thank you. Brooke: All right. Laura: I'll talk to you later. All right. Laura: She's not going to work. Mama's coming to get you, Greenlee. Jake: Okay. Promise me you're going to lay low until I get home. Greenlee: If you have a plan about Laura, I really -- Roger: Hey, Greenlee, I've looked everywhere for you. Greenlee: Daddy. You look awful. Roger: I'm fine, I'm fine. It's just a little warmer out than it should be. I'm overdressed. Jake: You're dressed like you always dress, Roger. Roger: I'd like a private word with my daughter, Jake. Jake: Are you okay with that? Greenlee: Yeah. Yeah, definitely. And you have to get back to work. Jake: Yeah, yeah. Listen, remember what I said -- low profile. Greenlee: Okay. Jake: See you. Greenlee: Call me. Jake: Okay. Greenlee: Are you sure you're okay? Roger: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. It's -- I'm just a little overworked, that's all. And I'm really sorry that I stood you up at the Valley Inn dining room last night. Greenlee: Yeah, well, I was, too, at first. Last night did not exactly start out in a good way. I had this horrible scene with Leo and Laura right in the middle of the Valley Inn dining room, and I swear, it ranked right up there with the top five worst nights of my life. And then Jake sort of came in and made it one of the most incredible nights of my life. Daddy, what is it? You're not even listening to me. Roger: Yeah, yeah, I am. I -- I am. Greenlee: Do you owe Mateo money? Roger: What? Greenlee: Well, you keep looking over at him like you don't want him to see you or something. Roger: Oh, no, no, no, no. Greenlee: My God, what is it? Roger: Oh, um -- it's -- it's nothing. It's just a bruise. Greenlee: A bruise? Daddy, there are, like, bandages around that. Daddy, what happened? Roger: Ah! Greenlee: Daddy? Daddy? You're sweating. What is going on? Simone: You can't blow these people off, Mateo. Do you have any idea what they can do? Jack: Look, Leo, I don't know Greenlee very well, I'll admit that. But I have seen her in action around enchantment, and I've seen every man that has become involved with her become totally unspooled. Leo: Oh, I'm not unspooling, Jack -- Jack: Just listen to me. Just listen to me, okay, one second. I know this kind of behavior because I was involved with somebody very much like Greenlee Smythe. Leo: Who? Jack: Who? Who do you think? Erica Kane, that's who. Erica drove me nuts the way she drives you nuts. And you want to know something? Erica still drives me crazy. I know what it's like to be so plugged in that you would do something drastic to make sure that Greenlee does not stop you from having a happy life. There's not a day goes by that I don't think, "Boy, I would like to put Erica in a padded cell with no telephone privileges." But you want to know something? That would get her out of my hair, but it wouldn't get her off my mind. And that, my young friend, is the situation I think you find yourself in with Greenlee. You want to be happy, but the woman you loved or maybe in some way still do love -- Leo: No, I don't love Greenlee. I'm married. Come on, man. Jack: But you're not letting that be, now, are you? Leo: Me? I'm not -- she's stalking my wife. Jack: All right, then I suggest if you really believe that, that you do everything you can to protect your wife, make sure she is safe, every legal channel possible. But if you think for a moment that this is just in your head, that you're making a federal case out of nothing at all, then, brother, you better stop and think -- "Am I doing this to protect my wife, or am I doing this to take a shot at an ex-girlfriend who is still under my skin?" Jake: "Laura Du Pres." Jake: Phoebe, hi. Phoebe: Hi, dear. I'm awfully sorry I had to have you paged, but my doctor is at a medical convention in Atlanta and one of my prescriptions is about to run out. Jake: Well, that's fine. I'm glad to take care of it for you. Phoebe: Thank you. Man: Last night, she discovered she was two pills short on her heart medication. Phoebe: Well, at least one. Paul is an absolute blessing to me. He keeps very good track of my dosages. Jake: Oh, I bet he does. Here, let me fill this out for you and take care of you in no time. Phoebe: Good. Thank you. You are a lifesaver, dear. I guess I am starting to take after Laura after all. Jake: Oh, yeah? How so? Phoebe: Well, Laura and I joke a lot about how neurotic I am about my pill taking. Of course, hers is far more important than mine, what, with her heart transplant and all. Jake: Well, I have heard that Laura's had a little trouble keeping on track with her medications. Phoebe: Yeah. Well, that's why we have our medicine-taking sessions so we can keep each other on track. Jake: Sorry? Phoebe: Well, it's sort of gallows humor, you know? Anyway, Laura and I do take our pills together. It's sort of helps us keep on course. Jake: What, do you two do this often? Phoebe: Well, every time we see each other, when she comes to visit me or I go to visit her. Paul, dear, can we go to the hospital's pharmacy now and get this prescription filled? Paul: Yes, of course. Phoebe: Oh, good. You have absolutely saved my life, Jake. Jake: Well, here you are. Not a problem, Phoebe. It's been wonderful, as always, to see you. Phoebe: Always good to see you. Next time I get a kiss. Jake: Oh. Are you kidding? Absolutely. There we are. Nice seeing you, Paul. Paul: Okay. Bye. Brooke: So, how is she? Jake: Well, there's a new development. I ran another E.C.G. Brooke: And? Jake: And Laura's heart rate has decelerated abnormally. Brooke: Well, what would cause that? Jake: Any number of possibilities. We're just going to have to run more tests to see. Brooke: So -- well, then she didn't have a panic attack? Jake: Apparently not. Hey, David. I didn't know you were working today. David: Is that why you came into my office to look at my files, Jake? Jake: Well, actually, I -- I came in here to get Laura Du Pres' file specifically because, if you recall, you're not supposed to be in, David, and when you're not, I'm the one who covers your patients. David: Not Laura Du Pres. Never again. Roger: I had a little accident with a knife. It's nothing. Greenlee: A knife? Roger: Yeah. Slicing a bagel. The ER doctor said it's a common occurrence. Greenlee: Did you need stitches? Ger: You know, you're sweet to be concerned, but I want you to stop, all right? I really came here to give you this. It's the balance of the money I owe you in cash. Greenlee: Daddy, you didn't have to do this. Roger: I want that to go back where you need it so that you're never in debt to anybody and that you don't have to answer to anybody but yourself. Greenlee: Daddy, you're sweating and your hands are shaking. Roger: Well, I thought somebody would come get a drink order from us, but I guess not. So why don't you let me walk you to the car, all right? Greenlee: Well, I was actually going to stay and eat. Roger: You really shouldn't be out alone, all right? You've got a lot of cash. Let's -- let's not risk anything, all right? Come on. Mateo: What's with you? I mean, you're late for work all the time. What's going on? Chris: My other boss needed me -- Ms. Kane. Mateo: Is that why you're in such a good mood? Chris: Look, I was going to spare you the boring details -- the flat on the limo, the spare tire, the hike back to the gas station. Mateo: You always have an excuse, you know that? Chris: You know something? I -- I forgot my change of clothes in the car. I'll be right back. Mateo: Right. Got to go. Simone: You want to alienate this guy for good? Mateo: He has never done a thing that he said he was going to do. I've got a drug lord breathing down my neck, all right, and he's an undercover fed, and he's not helping the situation at all. Look, he's always late. He can't help. Simone: What if he is helping? Hmm? There are things you do not know. Mateo: Yeah, like what if he's the caller? Simone: What? Mateo: The computerized voice. He's never here when I get those phone calls. [Phone rings] Mateo: Speaking of which. Santos. Man: [Distorted voice] Hang up on me again and you won't get a third chance. Mateo: What do you want? Man: I told you. The money has to be cleaned up and ready for delivery by next Wednesday. Mateo: You know what? No. No. I'm not doing another damn thing for you until I can see somebody, until I meet somebody face to face -- tonight. Jake: So, what is this all about, David? I'm good enough to cover some of your patients but not all of them? David: Laura Du Pres is a special case. Jake: Oh, yeah? Why is that? Did your brother tell you to keep me off the case? David: Leo told me what your new girlfriend is doing to his wife. I got to tell you, Jake, I'm a little surprised. Living life on the edge? It's so unlike you. Jake: Oh, yeah? Why is that? David: Going after a live wire like Greenlee Smythe? Although I have to admit, I do see a pattern forming here. Jake: You do? David: Mm-hmm. Jake: Yeah? How's that? David: Well, you falling yet again for another woman who's hung up on someone else. Well, that's a recipe for disaster, Doc. Take it from one who knows. Jake: Oh, I think you're the one who needs to listen to your own advice, David. David: Just stay out of my sister-in-law's life. And while you're at it, why don't you keep a short leash on your girlfriend, huh? You think you can handle that, Doc? Jake: You know, David, you can't pick and choose who I can and cannot treat. David: Oh, really? Watch me. [Phone rings] David: Do you mind? It is my office. [Ring] David: Dr. Hayward. Set up a meeting. Greenlee: My God. What are you doing? Brooke: Coming in. There are some things I need to say to you. Greenlee: Did your daughter the psycho write this script? Brooke: I'm very impressed by who you are, Greenlee. Really. I mean, you came to Pine Valley with nothing but a trust fund to show for yourself, and look at you now. I mean, you're heading up a major campaign at Enchantment, you're juggling, obviously, a serious affair with a highly respected doctor, all the while keeping tabs on your ex-boyfriend's marriage. Greenlee: Ex-fiancé. Brooke: You've got a lot on the ball for a spoiled rich girl. Greenlee: You know what? I don't need this. I just had a really nice day away from you and your twisted little dysfunctional family. I don't need you to come in here and toxify my -- hey. Brooke: Here's the deal. You're not going to destroy my daughter. You're not going to take away anything from her that matters. And you're not going to cause her any more pain. If you do, somehow I will cause you double the pain and you will feel it so deep inside that you may never recover. Am I clear? I've been fighting women like you since I was your age, cookie. Don't mess with me. Greenlee: Oh! [Phone rings] Greenlee: Hello. Woman: Hello. This is Mandy Singleton. I'm a nurse at the Pine Valley Hospital. I work with Dr. Jake Martin. Greenlee: Yeah? Mandy: Yes, he's with a patient now, but he asked me to call you and give you this message about where to meet him. Greenlee: Meet him? Mandy: Yes, at 102 Garden Drive. Greenlee: Um -- yeah. Yeah, sure. Thanks. Something's going down at Leo's? Laura: Hurry. Simone: You demanded a meeting, and they said yes? Mateo: Yeah. Simone: Well, goody for you. That means they're sending someone down here to kill you. Anna: So, here I am. What do you want? Chris: I know you spent the night with Hayward again. Anna: Good for you. You didn't hear anything, though, because I swept the room of all the bugs you planted. Chris: You sure about that? You know, you just admitted to violating a federal investigation. I could report you for that. Anna: You won't. We both know that. Because I think you're breaking a few rules of your own here on this one. I don't see any backup or any check-ins. And working alone -- that's not encouraged, is it, in your organization? Chris: Look, you don't know anything about my organization. You have no idea what I'm doing, okay? But you could tell me what you know about Hayward. Make it worth your while. Anna: You're going to pay me? I don't think the bureau would like that. You can't pay a moonlighter with federal dollars, and I don't think you're living too high on the hog yourself these days. Unless, of course, maybe you got access to some dirty money from Proteus and his people. Is that it? Chris: Did I say money? You know, I need you like I need another head. Anna: Good, so we're done. Chris: We're done. Word of caution -- don't turn your back on Hayward. Anna: I don't put my life in danger for anyone, especially not Hayward. You know what? Next time when you want to look like a bartender -- Chris: Yeah. Anna: Why don't you ask the person you're grilling what they want to drink? "Can I get you something? Would you like a beer?" I don't know, it just looks better. You know what I mean? Chris: Remember -- Anna: If I cared a whit about Erica Kane, I would warn her about you. Chris: Tim? You watch the bar for me. Tim: Sure. Simone: Don't do this, Mateo. Don't go meet whoever it is they're sending. Mateo: It's done. Just stay out of it. Simone: They're going to kill you, Mateo. Mateo: No, they're not. They need me. All right? I call the shots now. Simone: Look, I know these people, all right? I know what they can do. Mateo: Just go back to work. Go back to work and watch Stamp for me. Simone: Mateo -- Mateo: Don't make me -- just -- just go back to work, please. Mateo: SOS. Man: [Distorted voice] Congratulations, Mr. Santos. Mateo: Who is this? Man: Your new club is a huge success. Mateo: Who is this? "Consider this as a down payment on your son's future. Keep your cell phone turned on for further details." Mateo: All right. Look, whoever you are, I've already contacted an agent from the FBI, all right? So if you think you're going to get to me or my family, you got -- Rosa: Where did you get that? Shut up. You did not. Mateo: What can I do for you? Man: [Distorted voice] How polite. Good cover for the wife. Don't let her in on our secret, Mr. Santos. That would be a fatal mistake. Laura: I missed you. Leo: I missed you, too. Laura: Everything okay? Leo: Yeah, everything's fine. How was your fitting? Laura: Oh. It fit. Bianca was here today. Leo: Yeah? How was that? Laura? Laura: I asked her to be my maid of honor, and she said no. Leo: She did? Laura: It's like she's not even trying to be friends. Leo: I'm sorry. I know she's got a lot of stuff going on at home. Maybe that's why. Laura: It's okay. I'll look at the guest list and choose someone else. Will you help me? Leo: Yeah. Sure. Laura: Oh, my God. Leo: What? Laura: How did she -- Leo: That's Greenlee's signature. When did she do this? Laura: I don't know. Why would she do that? Leo: I don't know. I don't know. Laura: My mom says that you're -- you're seeing a lawyer. Did you talk about pressing charges? Leo: No -- Laura: What? Leo: I didn't. Laura: Why? Leo: Because I wanted to make sure it was the -- [Watch alarm beeps] Leo: All right, time for your meds. Let's do that, and we'll talk about it later. They're the pink ones or whatever, right? Laura: Yeah. What, they're not there now? Leo: No. Were they there before? Laura: I thought so. I -- I dumped the trash after Bianca left. Maybe they fell in there and I was so upset I didn't notice it. Leo: Okay. Well, you wait here. I'll go check the garbage bin. Laura: Leo, I'm sorry. Leo: No, no, no. It's okay. All right? Just -- we're just going to handle this. Greenlee: Leo. I didn't think you were -- Leo: Greenlee, what the hell are you doing here? Is this ever going to stop? Brooke: That's her. Arrest her. [Knock on door] David: Come in. You found me once again. It took a while, though, Devane. Anna: Oh, I had things to do. David: Really? Were they before or after you met Chris Stamp at SOS? Anna: Oh. Quite the detective. David: You know, I have to tell you, I'm really confused. I mean, one minute you tell me not to trust the guy, the next minute you're having a date with him. Anna: He likes me. I'm shopping. David: He couldn't care less about you. Anna: How would you know? David: Well, first of all, he's trying to get lucky with my ex, Erica Kane. And second of all, the only thing he wants from you is whatever you have on me. Anna: Well, he proposed that I left you and go out with him. David: Really? Anna: Mm-hmm. David: How rude. Anna: I turned him down. I said I was reasonably satisfied with my present situation. David: "Reasonably," huh? David: I have an appointment. Anna: Now? David: Mm-hmm. You took a long time to track me down, Devane. I made other plans. Anna: With whom? David: Destiny. David: Ciao. Anna: Just because you don't want me to follow you doesn't mean that I won't. [Phone rings] Mateo: Yeah? Man: [Distorted voice] You requested a meeting? Mateo: I'm waiting. Man: 10 minutes in the alley back outside your bar. Jake: Greenlee? Oh, come on. Damn it, why didn't you listen to me? Oh, no. Don't tell me she went over there. Greenlee: Leo, tell your raving lunatic of a mother-in-law that I just got here and I didn't do anything to anyone. Leo: Greenlee, you broke into our house again. Greenlee: What? I did not. Leo: You didn't think that I would know this was you? Greenlee: I didn't write that. Leo: It's your handwriting. Greenlee: It's a lousy forging of my handwriting, Leo. For God's sake. Officer: Will someone tell me what the criminal intent is here? Brooke: I explained when I called 911. Greenlee: 9-1-freaking-1? Brooke: This woman has been harassing my daughter, who has been seriously ill. Laura: Mom? Greenlee: Oh, here we go. Laura: What's happening? Leo: Your mother called the police. Laura: Mom, is Greenlee threatening you, too? Brooke: No. Greenlee: Listen here, you little -- get your hands off of me and listen to the only sane person in this stupid, ugly courtyard! I didn't do anything to anyone. Officer: Ma'am, do you live here? Greenlee: Yeah, like I'd be caught dead living in a place like this. Officer: Were you asked to visit anyone who does live here? Greenlee: No. I -- Brooke: Like I said, harassment and trespassing. Officer: Okay, you're under arrest. Greenlee: Like hell. For what? Officer: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can -- Greenlee: Oh, Leo, for God's sake, if I ever meant anything to you, stop this now. Officer: You have the right to have an attorney present. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Simone: Please don't do this, Mateo. Mateo: Look; I just got off the phone with them, all right? I'm going to meet them outside and that's it. Simone: Yeah, and what? What are you going to do, huh? Talk to a killer? Mateo: Just stay inside. Simone: I can't. Mateo: You stay inside, or I'm going to blow your cover. Simone: Like you'd dare. Mateo: I'll talk to you when I get back. Simone: You mean if you come back in. >> On the next "All My Children" -- Laura: You broke in; you stole my pills! Greenlee: Your daughter is a fake and a liar. Mateo: Come on out. I can't see you. Erica: I am just worried sick about Bianca. Chris: Then I'll distract you. |
