  • True Blood - 'The Complete 7th Season' - HBO's Last - is Already Being Planned
No availability date yet, but Amazon is taking advance orders for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs
    From tvshowsondvd.com
Entering its seventh and last season, True Blood is a smart, sexy vampire thriller that follows a trio of star-crossed lovers dealing with a suddenly changed world.
A bit over a month ago HBO began airing the final season of the popular show, and six episodes have aired of the ten episodes that are planned. Now Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders on True Blood - The Complete 7th Season, for both DVD and also a Blu-ray Disc version (with Digital copies). These listings are prior to the official HBO Home Video announcement for the title, though, so instead of a street date Amazon only says "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Pricing is available, however, currently showing $59.99 SRP for the standard DVD and $79.98 SRP for the Blu-ray set (you can, of course, guarantee your copy right away at a discounted price, if you order it using either of the above links). There are no other details available so far at Amazon's entries, but early box cover art for the DVD can be found below (may not be final, and could be subject to change). Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you further on this title, just as soon as we find out anything more! Our thanks to one of our readers, "Chad," for alerting us to these listings!

  • From hollywoodreporter.com: 'True Blood's' Seventh Season Will Be Its Last 9/3/2013
HBO made the announcement Tuesday, with the final 10 episodes slated to air in 2014.
    True Blood Season 6 Finale
    HBO is ending True Blood.
The premium cable network announced Tuesday that the vampire drama based on Charlaine Harris' books will concluded with its 10-episode seventh season.
"True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO," said HBO president of programming Michael Lombardo in a statement. "Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey. Alan passed the baton to Brian Buckner, who led our fantastic writers and crew in crafting a spectacular sixth season, and he will lead us through the seventh and final season of this amazing show. Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show."
Added Ball, who stepped down as showrunner ahead of the drama's recently concluded sixth season: "From the moment I read Charlaine’s books, I thought there was potential for something really special. Then our amazing writers, cast and crew brought her world to life in a way that exceeded my wildest expectations. I'm deeply grateful to HBO for being true partners and collaborators, and, of course, to the viewers who chose to spend Sunday nights in Bon Temps with us."
Said Buckner, who will steer the series to its conclusion: "I feel enormously proud to have been a part of the True Blood family since the very beginning. I guarantee that there's not a more talented or harder-working cast and crew out there, and I'd like to extend a personal heartfelt thanks to them for their dedication and tenacity over the years, especially this past year, as I stepped into a larger role. Thank you also to HBO for their unwavering support and of course to Alan Ball, whose genius enabled all of us to share in this incredible journey. Finally, a huge thank you to the most passionate fans in television. As we take a final walk through Bon Temps together, we will do our very best to bring Sookie's story to a close with heart, imagination and, of course, fun."
HBO renewed True Blood for its seventh season in July after its sixth season opened to 4.5 million total viewers in June -- down about 700,000 year-over-year. The vampire drama ranks as HBO's third-most-watched original scripted series ever, trailing only The Sopranos and Game of Thrones.
Following the conclusion of its sixth season -- which ended with a new alliance between humans and vampires, Buckner told The Hollywood Reporter that he thought the series had "one or two more great years.
"It's going to be an HBO call," he continued. "I don't have the answer yet. I'm requesting it. I want to know if I'm breaking the final season or not. I do hope to get that answer. The show is viable as long as the audience still cares. They might be mad right now, but they care," he said, with a nod to Alexander Skarsgard's then-uncertain future with the series.
Beyond True Blood, HBO has dramas Boardwalk Empire returning for its fourth season and the fourth season of Game of Thrones set for spring 2014. The future for cable news drama The Newsroom remains unclear as HBO has said it would like to see it return for a third season, but the fate of the series rests on showrunner Aaron Sorkin and his busy schedule.
On the pilot side, the cabler is developing Damon Lindelof's The Leftovers, a rock-and-roll drama from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger with Bobby Cannavale attached, and Cold War drama The Missionary.
The final season of True Blood returns next summer. A formal premiere date has not yet been announced.

  • ‘TRUE BLOOD’ STAR LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT CAPTIVE CHIMPANZEES
Kristin Bauer and Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine launch campaign on Change.org asking U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to extend endangered species protections to captive chimpanzees.
WASHINGTON, DC – Actress Kristin Bauer, who plays Pam on HBO's True Blood, has launched a campaign on Change.org with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine urging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect captive chimpanzees.
Bauer’s online campaign asks the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to extend the endangered species protections currently given to wild chimpanzees to captive chimpanzees used in experiments and the entertainment industry and kept as pets in United States.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the incredible intelligence and rich, complex social lives of chimpanzees,” said Bauer. “It would be shameful to see them go extinct in the wild as we continue to exploit them here in the U.S. in invasive experiments, entertainment and as pets.”
Bauer cites studies demonstrating that when people see chimpanzees used in commercials and interacting with humans in the media, they are more likely to believe that chimpanzees not only make good pets, but that they are not endangered in the wild.
“The Endangered Species Act should protect all chimpanzees, including those being used in laboratory experiments,” said John Pippin, M.D., F.A.C.C., of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. “No other developed countries allow invasive research on chimpanzees because of ethical and scientific problems with such experiments. The U.S. must do more to protect humankind’s closest genetic relatives.”
Bauer’s campaign is likely to draw national attention to the lack of protections for captive chimpanzees. The actress is encouraging True Blood fans to sign her online petition campaign on Change.org, the world’s fastest-growing platform for social change.
“It’s really impressive to see Kristin Bauer rally her fans around giving chimpanzees a voice,” said Change.org Director of Organizing Stephanie Feldstein. “Through her campaign n Change.org, Kristin’s fans can take action on a cause that’s important to them. Change.org empowers anyone, anywhere to start a campaign on issues that matter to them, and it’s been incredible to watch this campaign take off.” LINK
A proposal to extend protections to captive chimpanzees is currently under consideration by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The public comment period for the proposal ends October 31.

  • TRUE BLOOD® – MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3 TO BE RELEASED THIS FALL
UNIQUE DUET OF NEKO CASE & NICK CAVE TO BE RELEASED DIGITALLY ON JUNE 26 AFTER THE SERIES PREMIERE EPISODE
WaterTower Music has announced the upcoming release of “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3” due in stores and online this fall. The follow up to the first two Grammy® nominated soundtracks will consist of new songs from the upcoming forth season of the acclaimed HBO drama as well as music from the show’s wildly successful 3rd season.
Music is an essential element in developing the tone and atmosphere on the hit television series. The sexy, supernatural world of Bon Temps comes to pulsating life through the edgy songs and season three is no exception. An exceptional duet recorded by Neko Case and Nick Cave will be the first track from the collection to make its debut. Case and Cave have recorded a new version of The Zombies’ classic “She’s Not There” which will be available at all digital retailers on June 26, after the premiere episode.
"I am so excited about Neko and Nick's cover of ‘She's Not There,’" says True Blood music supervisor and soundtrack producer Gary Calamar. “I would have been thrilled to have either Neko Case or Nick Cave individually work with us this season, but to have a collaboration like this blows me away. Two of my favorite artists whose music is perfect a fit with the atmospheric and soulful Louisiana settings of True Blood. This is a fantastic way to musically kick off the new season!”
Washington-bred Neko Case’s mix of country, gospel, torch, and pop, and her five full-length solo albums have won her much critical acclaim, countless devotees and two Grammy nominations. Internationally renowned as a singer, songwriter, performer, script writer and novelist, Nick Cave’s career spans from the 80s Australian post-punk group The Birthday Party, to legendary band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to the irrepressible raucous and raw Grinderman.
Information on the additional tracks included in “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3” will be released later this summer.
Centered in the fictional town of Bon Temps, the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning True Blood series follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin), who can read minds, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series Six Feet Under) is creator and executive producer the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
Gary Calamar serves as music supervisor and soundtrack producer for of “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3” For additional information, please visit www.hbo.com/trueblood .
