END OF SEASON 4 (Recap)
The helicopter carrying Lana is struck by a meteor
and crashes to the ground, Lana awakes and drags herself out and away
from the helicopter up a mound of dirt to be faced with a spaceship.
Jason and the Kents, whom he is holding hostage at their home, are
caught in an explosion due to a meteor striking the Kent Farm. Lionel
is at the Luther Mansion in some sort of trance brought on the by the
stone he unsuccessfully tried to conceal from Lex. Lois drives towards
a hill, and runs up it, to see what is left of Smallville. Teary-eyed
and scared, she witnesses the devastation of the meteor shower.
...And Now...
Chloe and Lex are in the Kiwatchi Caves,
unbeknownst to Lex, Clark is also there, in the secret chamber, where
several bright lights are flashing. Clark holds the stones of power in
his hands and suddenly a flash of white light transports him to a
mountain of snow….
Clark is somewhere… in the middle of nowhere,
surrounded by mountains and snow. The Kryptonian symbol that
transported him to the caves acts as a compass and guides Clark to what
appears to be a fortress made of ice, which grows out of the snow as
Clark approaches. He is met by Jor’El’s voice inside the fortress and
is told that his life in Smallville is a memory now and he must prepare
for his destiny and to save the world against a greater evil. He is
surrounded by knowledge from Jor-El and is in a deep trance as he
absorbs it all at an advanced rate, it forms a sort of wall or barrier
around him causing the wind to blow furiously around Clark.
Lana is at the edge of the crater and as she peers
over she is blinded by a bright light. She drags herself away and is
confronted by the two beings, a female and a male, who have emerged from
the ship. As the police surround them, Lana staggers away leaving the
man and woman to battle it out with them. As they obliterate their
opposition they reveal their purpose, to find Kal-EL, and they speed
away to find him.
The meteor shower has left a gaping hole in the
middle of the Kent home. Lois drives up and runs in to find Mr. Kent
conscious and helps him to locate Mrs. Kent in all the rubble and they
get her to the local hospital.
Lex awakens to find himself alone in the caves. He
picks up the octagonal key and tries to hide it when Atheyr & NamEk show
up, after figuring out that he cannot be Kal-El because he bleeds, they
take the key from him and leave a stunned Lex in the caves as they speed
away.
Chloe awakens to chills and finds herself in what
appears to be the North Pole. She sees the ice fortress and makes her
way towards it. As she enters, she sees Clark undergoing his “lesson”.
As she tries to get closer, the winds inside seem to attack her and she
tries to call out to Clark for help, yet can only make out a whisper.
Clark comes out of his trance and rushes to help Chloe. He promises
Jor-El that he will return before the sun sets to finish his lessons, so
that he can save Chloe. Jor-El allows Clark to leave but warns that if
he should not return in the time allotted, the consequences would be
grave.
Lana stumbles onto the roadway and runs into Lex.
She tells him they have to escape the two beings from the spaceship. He
asks her where she saw the spaceship and she tells him. He begins to
tell her that she is in shock and hallucinating. Lana gets angry and
turns to walk away but collapses from her injuries.
Clark gets Chloe to the safety of the hospital
where they finally come clean with each other. Chloe reveals the
details of how & when she figured out Clark’s secret and Clark lets
Chloe know that he is not even human let alone a meteor freak. Chloe
responds by telling him that she thinks he is amazing and that she will
never let his secret leave her lips. As they watch the news, they see
the damage back home. Chloe tells him she’s fine and that Smallville
needs him more than she does. And away he goes……..
Lana wakes up at the Luthor Mansion to a scratching
sound. Downstairs, Lionel is busy carving a symbol into the floor. He
tells Lana that they are the “Disciples of ZOD” and that “They must be
stopped”. He looks toward the kryptonite stored in Lex’s vault and
says “Their home is their only poison”. Lana asks Lionel where she can
find the two beings from the spaceship.
At the hospital, Lois is being thanked by the Kents
for her help when a huge explosion knocks them off their feet. The
Disciples of ZOD have arrived and are losing patience in their search
for Kal-El. As Lois intervenes and tries to help free Mr. Kent from
their grips, they instead focus on Lois and as they are about to hurt
Lois, Lana shows up and tells them she knows where Kal-El is hiding and
that she would lead them to him at the Luthor Mansion.
As Lana points them towards the kryptonite filled
vault they are almost overcome by the green meteor rocks but get away in
enough time to assault Lana for lying. Clark reaches the hospital after
running into a very skeptical Lex who tells him where his parents are.
He talks to Lois and she tells him that Lana has led the two strangers
to the Luthor Mansion. Clark reaches the mansion to find that the two
strangers are actually the last remaining survivors of Krypton and that
their mission is to destroy and rebuild Earth as a new planet for
Kryptonians with Clark’s help. Clark refuses and they unleash an attack
almost capable of swallowing Clark whole. As he fights being sucked
into the portal he hangs on long enough for them to turn their backs to
him, and as they do, he manages to free himself.
He knocks both of them, one after the other, into
the portal which then collapses into what looks like a square picture
frame, trapping the two and their cries for
help within it and the box itself takes flight,
shattering a window to the outside which reveals to Clark, a setting
sun. As he checks on Lana, he realizes his finger is bleeding, for the
first time ever.
Mr. & Mrs. Kent return home to a less super-Clark.
He reveals that because he did not return to Jor-El before the sunset,
he no longer possesses any of his super-abilities. As happy as he is to
be normal, his parents are more worried than ever.
As Chloe sleeps, she’s roused out of sleep and
calls out Clark’s name but it’s Lex who has found her at the hospital.
He questions how she ended up so far from Smallville and why she assumed
he was Clark. Back in Smallville’s local hospital, Lana’s in bed
reading a newspaper, with a highlighted article regarding the deaths of
Jason & Genevieve Teague. The headline is circled in red ink, with a
note saying “You Owe Me One” signed with only an “L”. As Clark enters
the room, she hides the newspaper. Clark asks Lana if she meant what
she said before the meteor show hit town, specifically the “I Love You
Clark” part. They both confirm that they are in love and seal it with a
long kiss.
The
spaceship has disappeared from the crater and ends up at a LuthorCorp
warehouse. It’s sprung a leak of sorts and out of the liquid emerges
yet another otherworldly figure.
