The new sheriff in town, she replaces Sheriff Ethan. She
insists on keeping a distance from the folks in Smallville, in order to
remain objective. She doesn't appreciate Clark Kent's tendency to always
be "at the right place at the right time" and saving people. She even
sentences him to community service and urges him to stay away from police
business. But she is also very fair, and goes beyond the call of duty if
something needs to be investigated. She also has a dry, quirky sense of
humor.

Notes on Character:
Jor-El is Clark Kent's biological father. Clark's birth
name is Kal-El. We know that Jor-El may have visited Earth in the 1960s,
where he was knows as The Drifter, and looked exactly like Clark. The
Drifter fell in love with married Louise McCallum, who later died, shot
by Lachlan Luthor (Lionel's father). During his time on Earth, Jor-El met
Jonathan Kent's father, and decided that this was the family that he
wanted his son to grow up with. It was therefore no coincidence that
Martha and Jonathan found Clark when his ship landed on Earth.
Jor-El left messages for Clark that have helped Clark understand his
origins and destiny, with the help of Dr. Virgil Swann.
He temporarily engraved an emblem in Clark's chest. When Clark, under the
influence of Red Kryptonite, was living the crazy life in Metropolis,
Jonathan tried to get his son to come back home, during which time he
made a deal with Jor-El. If Jor-El helped him get Clark back to
Smallville, Jonathan promised that he would not stand in Clark's way when
it came to fulfilling his destiny. Jor-El accepted, and temporarily gave
Jonathan superpowers, in order to get Clark home to Smallville.
Unfortunately, the superpowers caused strain and damage to Jonathan's
heart. But Jor-El is now exercising his part of the bargain, and thinks
it is now time for Clark to fulfill his destiny. Jonathan resisted for a
long time, not even wanting to tell his family what the deal was, but, at
the end of Season Three, Jor-El did not give them a choice, and has
called Clark back for a complete understanding of his destiny.

Actor Biography:
Stamp was born in 1939 and lived, in Canal Road, Bow,
until German bombers forced his family to move to Plaistow. An icon of
the 60s, he dated the likes of Julie Christie, Brigette Bardot and Jean
Shrimpton. After an extremely successful early career, starring in
Modesty Blaise (1967), Poor Cow (1967) and Far From The Madding Crowd
(1967), Stamp withdrew from mainstream films after his girlfriend,
supermodel Jean Shrimpton, left him, and he and went on a 10-year
sabbatical in India. He returned home in the late 70s to star as the evil
General Zod in Superman II (1980), and in 1984 delivered what many
consider his finest performance as the supergrass in Stepen Frears' The
Hit. A few minor but colorful roles, topped by his performance as the
drag artist, Bernadette, in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), have
put Stamp back in the British conscience. His role of vengeful gangster
in The Limey was created especially for him by its director.
He was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film
history (#59). [1995] Stamp has been wheat and dairy intolerant since the
1960s and launched "The Stamp Collection" range of organic wheat and
dairy free products in 1994. He is the older brother of Christopher
Stamp. The off-screen romance of Terence Stamp and Julie Christie while
they were filming Far from the Madding Crowd (1967) inspired The Kinks'
hit, "Waterloo Sunset" - hence the line "Terry met Julie" in the song.
A publicity shot from "The Collector" showing Terence Stamp holding a
chloroform pad was used for the cover of The Smiths single "What
Difference Does It Make". After some copies were printed, Stamp decided
he didn't want his photo to be used and the rest of the copies appeared
with Morrissey in the exact same pose, looking very much like him but
holding a glass of milk instead. Later, Stamp agreed and the photo was
re-instated on the 12" single cover.
The Superman Connection: Stamp
played villain General Zod in Superman I and II opposite
Christopher Reeve's Superman.
