I first heard Howard's radio show when we moved to New York in 1982. He arrived
there at WNBC about the same time. His first show was a spoof of the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
Instead of raising money for sick kids, he was raising jokes to save Bill Cosby's career.
Well, it must have worked because a few years later Cosby had a new hit TV show. I never
heard the Cos thank Howard, either anyway, we listened to Howard a lot in those days
while we went to college. We were huddled around the radio in the dark during Hurricane
Gloria when Howard was fired from WNBC. Soon after, he showed up on another New York
station, and he's been a hit ever since! We didn't live in an area that could get his radio
show, but we've followed his career from his early TV days on his syndicated summer show
(which I taped) to his E! shows and his movies and his crowning as King of All Media.
Now he has a successful ground-breaking show on Sirius Radio. Howard and his crew get more outrageous all the time! He doesn't offend me, he just makes
me laugh. This page mostly focuses on his show from 1990-1993 ~Suzanne
