Grey's
Anatomy is one of the best primetime soap operas on TV today. It not only
bolstered the popularity of primetime soaps, along with Desperate
Housewives, it also helped bring hospital shows back into vogue. This year,
many new hospital shows debuted, but few are successful. They don't seem to
capture the audiences' imaginations or attention the same way that Grey's
does.
The show boasts some really good actors, such as Sandra Oh, as well as the
really attractive and popular Patrick Dempsey and Katherine Heigl. The
medical drama is good, and often bizarre or even funny. It is not as tragic
or gory as, say, ER. The love lives of the doctors are of primary
importance, since it is a soap opera.
Anyone who is a fan of the good old days on General Hospital should
definitely watch Grey's Anatomy. Now that ER is off the air, Grey's is
probably the best hospital show on TV, anyway. The new show Mercy is good,
but it's no Grey's.
Grey's has had some controvery behind the scenes, and the cast has changed a
bit since its first season, but that kind of thing happens with any good
show. It's par for the course.
It even has its own spinoff, Private Practice, which is also just plain good
TV. Even though Grey's has been on the air now for 6 seasons, I think it is
as good as it ever was.
