Dial Emmy for Murder (Paperback)

by Suzanne This is a
mystery/romance novel set in the world of a soap opera actress. The main
character, Alexis, is a soap star, much like the author. In a previous book, she
solved a murder, and now she is doing the same thing in this book. It is a
formula similar to the one you might have seen in the TV shows "Diagnosis
Murder" or "Murder, She Wrote". Alexis has moved to a new soap, but she is
still embroiled in intrigue and murder. Alexis has a daughter and
mom who live with her, and a boyfriend that she has lost interest in. When she
comes in contact with the police detective that she met in the last book, they
grow closer. He not only protects her from the murderer, but from her
deadbeat ex-husband. Parts of
it were funny and made me laugh. I enjoyed the mystery story about someone
killing off young soap opera hunks and the romance between the heroine and her
cop friend. I think this would make an excellent movie for Lifetime or the
Hallmark Channel; I also hope they get Eileen Davidson to play Alexis! Her
character speaks a lot like she does, so you have to picture her as Alexis.
I just wish the book were longer and more detailed. I would have liked to have
known more about the ex-husband. Also, it seemed like the mystery was solved a
bit too fast. I like thicker books, I suppose. This is a fun and easy read, what
you might call a beach book. There's nothing wrong with that! This is the second book in a series, so now I'm going to have
to go back and read the first one. I look forward to the third one that she is
working on. Ms. Davidson did a good job, especially for a novice writer.
Any TV fan should enjoy the book!
