The Binge Watcher's Guide Doctor Who: A History of Doctor Who and the First Female Doctor book cover

"The Binge Watcher's Guide Doctor Who: A History of Doctor Who and the First Female Doctor" by Mackenzie Flohr

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 3/20/20

This book is a fun read for any fan of the current Doctor Who series. It's mostly about the current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. Ms. Flohr is a huge fan of the show who's also a fantasy author in her own right.

First she explains the background of the show, both the classic and modern versions. She fills in the non-fans, or anyone who hasn't watched lately, about what's going on with the latest Doctor.  Then there's an episode guide for season 11 (the first season with Jodie Whittaker). Then there's a section you should read after you watch those episodes, and rumors and expectations of season 12. Finally, there are many interviews with different "Doctor Who" fans, writers and website owners.

It's a good book to read and own if you're a fan of the show or want to catch up before you watch season 11 or 12.  She writes really well, so it's easy to read.  The only drawback is that there are no photos. You can find many of those on the internet, though.
