The
Waltons - The Complete Fifth Season

I love this show and always have. It is a great drama. It's a
"family" show and yet not boring or unrealistic. It follows a poor large
mountain family in Virginia from the Depression and onwards. Even though they
were poor and had many tragedies in their family, they always loved each other
and stuck together. It was kind of a soap opera but episodic.
The 5th season was pivotal because the actress who played
Grandma had a stroke, so they had to write her out. At the end of the
season, the show's star, John-boy, played by Richard Thomas, left. He was
the narrator and heart of the show, so it was really never the same without him.
In this season, the older daughter, Mary Ellen, gets married. Lots of
changes occur in this season, as you can tell.
If you love good drama, you should rent or buy this set and the
four seasons before it. The only bad thing is that there are no extras
whatsoever. That's a real shame. I would love to have seen what the actors have
to say about the show now.
