DVD TV Show Reviews

This is a great show! It has a fabulous cast of great (and beautiful) young actors.  The writing is by the awesome Kevin Williamson, who wrote "Dawson's Creek".  It's about vampires, so it's horror; but it is also a really good teen soap opera. It's just really well done.

When I first heard about the show, I was interested because of Williamson. Then I heard it was about teen vampires, and I worried that it was a TV version of "Twilight".  However, then I did read that it was based on a series of teen books that were around long before the Twilight books! And then the final clincher was that Ian Somerhalder was starring in it. He is gorgeous and was great on "Lost".

This is a good TV set to own for any fan of horror or soap operas or TV.  The stories are very good and there is a great cliff-hanger ending of the series. The show has a lot of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

The set also has many great special features.  "Into Mystic Falls" is not only a great introduction to the show but gives a lot of detail about how they put it together.  "When Vampires Don't Suck!" focuses on the show's (and book's) fandom and how they have dealt with it.  "A New Breed of Vampires" has a lot about the casting of the show, including some brief glimpses of their screen tests.  They also include a webisode "A Darker Truth", and a gag reel.  Lastly, you can also download the audio book for the book "The Awakening".  It is quite a good collection to own.

I recommend this show to anyone who loves good TV. This is a very popular show and should be around for a long time.
