DVD TV Show Reviews
Brothers Charlie and Alan Harper are back and funnier than
ever. Charlie is a single guy who lives in Malibu. He makes his living writing
jingles. Charlie loves living the bachelor life. There is a constant flow of
women in his house. Alan is still sweet and well meaning. He’s also still a
bit “uptight” compared to Charlie.
In this second season, Charlie Sheen (Charlie) and Jon Cryer
(Alan) are still a modern day “odd couple.” Their differences speak volumes in
the way they live their lives. Charlie is still a “love em and leave em” kind of
guy. Even though he has little respect for women, Charlie is funny and
appealing and in no way offensive. Alan continues to wear his heart on his
sleeve and tends to let women take advantage of him. Angus T. Jones plays
Alan’s 11-year-old son, Jake. Just as in season one, Jones steals the show.
Again, he’s funny and genuine. He’s a typical young boy and one that the
audience can relate to. Holland Taylor is also still hilarious as Alan and
Charlie’s mother, Evelyn. Charlie’s unusual neighbor, Rose (Melanie Lynskey),
is also still obsessed with him. Rounding out the cast is Charlie’s
housekeeper, Berta (Conchata Ferrell), who has a tough exterior but a good
heart.
This DVD set contains a total of 24 episodes. Some note worthy
guest stars include Sean Penn, Elvis Costello, Camryn Manheim, and Denise
Richards. The set also includes some special features, including hilarious
outtakes from the show. The set is a must have for those who enjoy a good
laugh. It’s also a must have for those who enjoyed the first season of Two And
A Half Men. To be honest, I think the second season is even funnier than the
first season. The dialogue flows smoothly throughout each episode. Charlie
Sheen and Jon Cryer have terrific chemistry. Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn
have created a comedic masterpiece. I truly love this show. I’m
confident that you’ll love it as well.
