True Blood The Complete
Second Season
(DVD)
Review by Suzanne 4/30/10 |
I love this show and have watched both seasons religiously. It
is a fun vampire soap opera. It has even gotten me interested in reading the
books, which are a little different. The acting is great, and the writing is
superb.
The show is definitely for anyone who loves good writing and
acting. However, if you don't like nudity or bad language, or blood and gore, or
vampire stories, then you will not like it and should avoid it. Some people did
not like this second season as much as the first. I guess it all depends on
whether you like Maryann and her maenad story or not. I love Michelle
Forbes in anything, so it was great to me.
You get to learn more about all of the characters as they are
fleshed out and given more to do. It's a great show, and I can't wait for the
third season, coming soon.
There are only a few features in the standard DVD set. One
is "Fellowship of the Sun: Reflections of Light" where the bible-thumping,
vampire-hating characters Steve and Sarah preach against vampires. This is
scarily too much like the real church people for my tastes. The other main
feature is a really great entertainment-news type of show called "The Vampire
Report: Special Edition". This is brilliant and a great companion piece to
the show's stories. They also have lots of commentaries.
Get this set and you won't be sorry! Just make sure you get
season one first!
