Scorpion: Season One

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 10/9/15

I like this show okay, and I reviewed the first episode, but I wasn't able to watch it regularly because there are just so many hours in the day. I don't LOVE the show. Still, I'm glad to get the DVD, which forces me to watch it, anyway.

This is one of those shows that gets better the more you watch it. They do a good job of having interesting characters, and showing their histories, and also adding good crimes for them to solve. It's kind of like "NCIS" in that way. It's a good solid show, but with fun characters. Yet I know lots of really smart people (nerds) who love this show because it shows smart, geeky people doing good work. Similar to "Bones" in that sense, I guess, but way better written than either of the other shows mentioned here.

The DVD comes with a lot of great features that should make any "Scorpion" fan happy. They have behind-the-scenes and making-of specials, as well as character profiles and a gag reel. It's definitely worth the price of the DVD. Make sure you watch it and you won't be sorry!

Exclusive Target Collection Includes Additional Bonus Disc

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (August 4, 2015) – The high-octane drama inspired by a true story, SCORPION – SEASON ONE, explodes onto Blu-ray and DVD September 1 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution.

The series that follows an eccentric genius and his team of brilliant misfits working to protect the U.S. from high-tech threats arrives on Blu-ray and DVD, featuring UltraViolet Digital Copy and exclusive bonus features such as Unlikely Heroes: The Making Of Scorpion – Season One; Stunts on Scorpion, an inside look at the show’s most nail-biting scenes; and Inside the Brain with Eddie Kaye Thomas, an in-depth analysis at the science behind genius.

In its premiere season, SCORPION averaged 13.6 million viewers, making it one of the most watched new series of the 2014-15 season.

Starring Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick and Katharine McPhee, SCORPION centers on
Walter O’Brien (Gabel) who gathers a team of fellow geniuses to become the last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats of the modern age. As Homeland Security’s new think tank, O’Brien’s “Scorpion” team includes Toby Curtis (Eddie Kaye Thomas), an expert behaviorist who can read anyone; Happy Quinn (Jadyn Wong), a mechanical prodigy; and Sylvester Dodd (Ari Stidham), a statistics guru. Pooling their extensive technological knowledge, they solve mind-boggling predicaments, amazing federal agent Cabe Gallo (Patrick), who shares a harrowing history with O’Brien. However, while this socially awkward group is comfortable with each other’s humor and quirks, life outside their circle confounds them, so they rely on Paige Dineen (McPhee), who has a young, gifted son, to translate the world for them. At last, these nerdy masterminds have found the perfect job: a place where they can apply their exceptional brainpower to solve the nation’s crises, while also helping each other learn how to fit in.

Created by writer/producer Nick Santora, SCORPION – SEASON ONE arrives packed with exciting background features and insightful interviews with the stars and key production crew. Building Team Scorpion traces the making of the pilot from the show’s initial development to the grueling pilot shoot. Chasing the Plane includes a detailed look at the stunning visual effects that went into the creation of the dramatic runway sequence in that same pilot episode. Meet Team Scorpion introduces the intriguing collection of characters that make up the investigation team. Inside the Brain with Eddie Kaye Thomas includes an interview with an expert on the human brain and behavior who offers additional insight into the way a genius’ brain functions. Finally, Stunts on Scorpion is a pulse-pounding special feature that dives into the creation of some of the most harrowing, action-packed scenes in the series.

Exclusive to Target shoppers will be an additional DVD bonus disc (creating a special seven-DVD set) that includes back-stage interviews, interactive quizzes and more great behind-the-scenes moments.
