"Nightmares and Dreamscapes" Review by Suzanne

Nightmares & Dreamscapes - From the Stories of Stephen King

I really wanted to watch this when I saw the ads for it on TNT,
but for some reason I missed it, so I was very happy to see it out on DVD. This
is a good collection and anyone who is fan of fantasy, scifi, or just good drama
should enjoy it. I mostly wanted to watch it because I am a big fan of Ron
Livingston and I saw his face in the ads. However, he is only in one of the
episodes. I enjoyed them all. There are many good actors in the set.
There are eight episodes, all starring various well-known good actors such as
William Hurt, William H. Macy, Jeremy Sisto, and Steve Weber. They did an
excellent job with casting. This is like an anthology series, but it was only on
for one year (I don't know if they plan to make more). The stories remind me a
bit of the newer version of "The Outer Limits" or "The Twilight Zone".
I found some of the episodes to be very slow to build, but they are worth
watching anye because they are compelling stories that make you want to keep
watching to see what happens. They also have very good special effects. I read
the original book of short stories these are from, but it's been a while so I
didn't remember the stories. One thing I do remember is that they were excellent
stories and not gory or pure horror like a lot of King stories.
There are some good behind-the-scenes extras on the disk about
how they made the episodes, special effects, director's comments, etc.
I really enjoyed the set and I hope that everyone will. Anyone who likes good
drama should enjoy this collection.
