NCIS: New Orleans: The Fifth Season DVD cover

NCIS: New Orleans: The Fifth Season

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 5/1/19

This is the second spinoff of NCIS and it's always had its own flavor, between the interesting characters and the New Orleans backdrop. I think it's really doing well in this 5th season. It's hard to believe that it's been on for 5 years. It's amazing because Scott Bakula's previous two hit series didn't last nearly as long as this one. "Star Trek: Enterprise" only lasted 4 seasons.  "Quantum Leap" lasted just 5 seasons, so now that "NCIS: New Orleans" is coming back for a sixth season, it's his longest-running TV series. They even reached 100 episodes this season.

The series is very exciting and has a lot of action, drama, and suspense, as well as a little bit of romance and comedy.  You don't really have to have seen seasons 1-4 to know what's going on, either. Most of the episodes are self-contained.  This year they added a new character, Hannah Koury.

At the beginning of the season, Pride is in the hospital after almost being killed the previous season. At the end of the season, he's kidnapped by a cult leader. It's never a dull moment in the Big Easy for those federal agents.

The DVD set has many special features to enjoy. Check it out!

MORE INFORMATION:

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS: THE FIFTH SEASON
Street Date: August 20, 2019
Format: DVD
Description: NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is a drama about the local field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel in The Big Easy, a city known for its music, entertainment and decadence. Leading the team is Special Agent Dwayne Pride, a.k.a. “King,” a native of New Orleans who is driven by his need to do what is right. Working with Pride is his longtime friend and colleague Special Agent Christopher Lasalle, who plays hard but works harder; tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio, a former FBI Agent who was sent to New Orleans to investigate NCIS and upon completion joined Pride’s team; and Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund, a brilliant scientist who left the lab and, after much training, became an agent. Supporting them is coroner Dr. Loretta Wade, who is as eccentric as she is smart, and Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame, an animated and talented hacker. Joining the team this season is Special Agent Hannah Khoury, a seasoned agent who specializes in international counter-intelligence and has spent most of her career on overseas assignments. This colorful city that harbors a dark side is a magnet for service personnel on leave, and when overindulgence is followed by trouble, Pride’s team is at its best.
