Longmire: The Sixth and Final Season

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 11/10/18

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this post. The opinions I share are my own.

I have loved the entire "Longmire" series, and I'm so sad to see it end. I'm very grateful that Netflix gave it 3 more seasons, and this DVD has the final ending. I know that some fans weren't all that keen on the ending, but I liked it. There are always complainers! I'm very happy about the way they ended things with Walt and Vic.

I grew up watching westerns, and "Longmire" always reminded me of the ones I used to watch. The lead actor, Robert Taylor, always reminds me a bit of Lee Majors. However, the series is way better than anything that was on TV back when I was growing up. The acting, the writing, and the cinematography are all outstanding. It deals with modern subjects in a western setting, and the Native Americans are not all the bad guys. Characters on TV nowadays are not black and white, like they were back then, but Sheriff Longmire and his deputies are about as good as any heroes as you're going to get in today's TV. They have their flaws, sure, but they do the right thing.

This season is a great followup to the previous one.  Sadly, we didn't see the return of Ally Walker or Barry Sloane, but there was plenty for the rest of the cast to do. I really miss this show and the actors on it. I loved the relationships between Walt and Henry, and Walt and Vic, among others. They just don't make such rich characters on TV that often.

You should watch the whole series if you haven't already. You are missing out! This is one of the best shows of the century. I'm not exaggerating.

The only drawback to the DVD set is that there are no extras or features. You just get the series itself. That's a shame. The previous DVD's definitely had a lot more. You might want to buy the complete set instead to get more for your money.
