Greatest Heroes of the Bible: Complete Collection
Review by Suzanne Lanoue

This is a terrible show. It was made in the
late 70's (for children, I'm guessing) and it stars all
sorts of TV stars from back then, like Potsie from Happy
Days. The writing and acting is very wooden, stilted
and overly-serious. The only reason this came to DVD is
because there are probably some GenX-ers who grew up with it
and are nostalgic for it (or that's what the DVD makers are
hoping, anyway).
I was around back then, and I like some of
the actors, but it's not worth it to watch this dreck. The
"facts" in the show aren't even accurate. They have their
history all messed up. I'm no bible scholar, but my guess is
that is flawed as well.
Skip this and watch the more recent series
"The Bible" and it's excellent sequel "A.D. the Bible
Continues." Neither of those are very good for kids, though.
Young children might like this older series. The DVD has 15
episodes, but not one feature or extra. Too bad. I would
have liked to have seen what some of the actors or producers
had to say about it.
I don't think that CBS video has a lot of
confidence in this DVD; check out the super short
description below.
