The Flash: The Complete First Season Blu-Ray
Review by Suzanne Lanoue
9/16/15 |
I've loved this show
since the first episode!
Although it's technically a spin-off from "Arrow,"
it has a lot more fun and humor than the other show. I loved
the old 90's show "Flash" as well, but this one is even
better because of the humor.
The actor who plays Barry (Grant
Gustin) is very cute and funny, and he's just
really likable. The superhero Flash is not some big
muscle-bound hero type, so he's perfect as the young
scientist guy who becomes a reluctant hero. All of the
cast is really good. I was sad to see two of my favorites
killed off at the end of the season (I won't spoil it for
you and tell you who), even though I understand why it had
to be done. I love the actor who plays Joe (Jesse
L. Martin), Barry's surrogate dad, from when he
was on "Law & Order,"
and he's even better on this show.
I only have two complaints about the show.
First, they had Roger Howarth on for a few episodes and then
he's gone. He's an outstanding actor, so it would have been
nice to see more of him in primetime (he's on "General
Hospital" during the day). I don't know why he hasn't
gotten better work in primetime. He's not only a great
dramatic actor, but very funny as well. He should be
starring in his own superhero show!
Secondly, there was an episode toward the
end of the season that I didn't like ("Rogue Air'). I
thought the heroes acted really dumb in this episode.
Otherwise, though, the rest of the show has been flawless.
I'm glad to get them on DVD so I can watch them as often as
I'd like! I can't wait for the new show "Legends of
Tomorrow" as well!
As usual, Warner Brothers has packed the DVD
with tons of fun extras and features (listed below). You
should definitely watch this and get ready for season 2!
Great show.
