This has been my favorite show for quite a while now. I
just love everything about it. Michael C. Hall is so
gorgeous, and everyone in the cast does a great job. It's a
black comedy as well as a drama, a cop thriller, and
sometimes a tragedy. Dexter is a vigilante, but he's more
like Batman than a killer, in many ways. I've particularly
enjoyed watching Dexter's humanity grow and improve over the
years.
I also enjoy seeing Dexter with different women (although
they seem to have toned down the sex on the show over the
years, which I'm not sure is a good thing). Hannah was
great, although I still miss his wife, Rita. I didn't like
when they killed her off.
I'm glad they didn't put Deb and Dexter together this
season because that was just too icky. I'm sure I'm not the
only one that is relieved about that. However, I'm sure
everyone knows by now about the Dexter finale. I didn't
think it was terrible. Sure, I didn't like that they killed
off a major character, but otherwise I thought it worked out
pretty well.
Personally, I would have had Dexter have a more happy
ending, but that's just me. I enjoy a happy ending. That's
just not the way "Dexter" works, though.
This is a great set to have and has MANY features,
including Michael C. Hall talking about the season and about
directing one of the episodes. The DVD has a long list
of extras, including the first 2 episodes of "Ray Donovan"
and some of the bonus features of that show.
My only problem with these DVD features is that none of
them are closed-captioned. This is almost always true,
though. I wonder why? It makes it hard to watch sometimes.
Otherwise, though, it's a good DVD set to own.
