DVD Reviews
I didn't watch this show back when it aired
on Saturday nights on NBC...it was just not my kind of show,
for one thing. Also, it was one opposite "The Waltons" the
first season (77-78), which I loved. It was also on opposite
"Welcome Back Kotter" for the first two years, and "Rhoda"
the second year (78-79) as well as "Battlestar Galactica."
Also, I didn't watch much TV that year. By third 3rd season
(79-80), it had destroyed all of its Saturday competition. I
don't think I watched TV at all that year, which was the
year I graduated from high school and started college.
If you liked this show, then you should
definitely buy this DVD set. If you miss the 70's, it's fun
to watch and see all of the 1970's cars, references, clothes
etc. It's still not a very good show. Unfortunately, that
was true of most shows back then. There were just a handful
of good ones like "Barney Miller,", "Lou Grant," "Trapper
John, MD," "Mork & Mindy," "The Waltons," and "The Rockford
Files,". The rest was all pretty bad. I mean, I loved "Hart
to Hart," but I wouldn't really call it good. It was
enjoyable and fun, though.
There were a lot of great guest-stars on the
show. Since it took place in L.A., there were many
celebrities that showed up, often playing themselves. They
had a lot of great guest-stars, too. You should at least
watch the first two-part episode of this season, which is
about the roller-skating craze, and roller disco. It has
many great guest-stars and a lot of great scenery.
Anyway, there are no features at all on this
set, which is a shame. The main actors are all alive, so it
would have been nice to see interviews with them! But
it took them a long time between season 2 and now, so I
guess fans and collectors are very happy to get the set.
