Batman: Return of the Caped
Crusaders
Review by Suzanne Lanoue
11/15/16 |
This movie is great fun! It's a modern
animated Batman movie, yet they use the voices of the
surviving actors of the Batman TV show: Adam West (Batman),
Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman). The
other voices, of Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Alfred,
Commissioner Gordon, Aunt Harriet and Chief O'Hara (no
Batgirl, sadly!) are done by seasoned voiceover actors who
do a great job of imitating the late actors who acted on the
old 1966 show. Yet they also put their own spin on the
characters.
The old show from 1966 was kind of cool, in
its own way, but it was also very corny and now dated. They
somehow managed to update the show, yet make it even more
cool! It has a lot of humor and will make you laugh.
This is a must-have for any fan of the old Batman TV series.
I hope they make more of these movies. The DC animated
superhero movies are always awesome, anyway. This one is
extra-special.
I would say, the only downside at all is
that Adam West's voice is not quite what is used to be. You
know, he's almost 90, so that's to be expected! It's amazing
that he can do this with much energy at all. Kudos to him
and all of the others. They are fabulous. This movie is a
lot of fun.
As if the movie itself is not great enough,
the DVD also comes with a couple of good featurettes about
the making of the movie as well as some trailers for other
upcoming DC movies.
