the foster kids inside the alien ship

Review of "Endlings" 1/25/20 by Suzanne
airs now on HULU

This is a cool teen show about young foster kids who meet up with aliens. It seems like "The Fosters," mixed with "E.T." I was a foster kid, growing up, and my foster homes were not nearly as great as the one in this TV show (and that's even before the aliens showed up). The animation is fantastic. The aliens really do look like something from another planet.

The show is Canadian, and it's already been renewed for a second season. It's set 20 years in the future, and there's only one elephant left on Earth. A young woman named Abiona (Oyin Oladejo), who works in an animal preserve, is shocked when an alien ship steals the elephant. Meanwhile, the alien ship crashes on the farm of Mr. Leopold (Neil Crone), who takes in foster kids. New foster daughter Julia (Kamaia Fairburn) runs into the elephant while she's trying to run away. Then the aliens show up, and the foster kids have to deal with them. Although it's a kid's show, the intriguing plot makes you keep watching.

Don't miss this if you like good scifi.

MORE INFORMATION:

Set 20 years in the future and produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment in partnership with CBC and Hulu, ENDLINGS is the empowering story of four kids in foster care who discover they're not alone in the universe, even though sometimes it can feel like they are.

After the death of her mate, Tuko becomes the last elephant in existence--what biologists call an endling. Her endling status summons to Earth a mysterious Alien who is on an intergalactic quest to save the last members of near-extinct species. After Tuko is collected, the Alien's ship malfunctions and sends it on a crash course with the farm where teenagers Julia (Kamaia Fairburn), Johnny (Edison Grant), Tabby (Michela Luci) and Finn (Cale Thomas Ferrin) live with their foster dad, Mr. Leopold (Neil Crone). Before crashing, the Alien releases all of its cosmic collection into the fields and wilderness surrounding the property. This kicks off a high-action life-altering mission to retrieve these fantastical creatures before the local police, Tuko's caretaker (Oyin Oladejo), or a secretive industrialist (Lisa Ryder) can. Along the way, four discarded teens discover that "endling" doesn't have to mean the end; it can also mean a new beginning.
