Review of "The Baker and the Beauty" 4/17/20 by Eva Diaz
airs Mondays, 10/9c on ABC

I thought this would be fun to watch, and since most shows are in reruns, I thought I would check it out. The show centers around Daniel Garcia (Victor Rasuk), who meets international superstar Noa Hamilton (Natalie Kelley), a woman who seems a bit like Kim Kardashian West - she's a businesswoman and influencer. Daniel is a baker who works in his family bakery. Daniel's family is a very close knit Cuban family. Daniel and Noa meet at a resturant after he has turned down a marriage proposal from his longtime girlfriend because he isn't sure that he loves her enough to marry him. Noa takes Daniel on a night of partying with her, where she agrees to grant him three wishes. Noa grants two wishes to Daniel, and then we hear the recurring line from Noa to Daniel "I still haven't granted you your third wish." This line got a little annoying because they kept repeating it so much.

This show is based on an Isreali television show. While I like the show, it can be a little obvious. I can sometimes tell what's going to happen. I did enjoy Daniel's relationship with his family; it is heartwarming to see how much they love each other. Daniel and Noa's relationship - I think - will become an us-against-the-world type of relationship, where they are constantly trying to prove to their family and friends that they belong together. This show reminds me a little bit of those old romatic comedy movies that I enjoy escaping reality with for a while. I recomend this show to you if you want to escape from reality. The show isn't that well-written, in my opinion. I hope it gets better in future episodes. As I mentioned earlier, it's perfect if you don't want to think too much, escape a bit and get a warm fuzzy feeling for an hour. I give this show 4 out of 5 stars.
