Kate Beckinsale stars

Review of "The Widow" 3/17/18 by Suzanne
airs now on Amazon Prime

It's hard to watch this without thinking of similar shows, such as the recent "White Dragon" on Amazon Prime, or "Vanished" on FOX, or "Missing" on ABC. It has its own spin on things, though.

Kate Beckinsale plays Georgia, whose husband was in a horrific plane crash. She thinks he's dead, until years later, when she spots him in the background of a news story. She spends the rest of the time hunting for him and unraveling the mystery.

This is one of those shows where everyone has a big secret, and the heroine is the main person in the dark. The audience is also left in the dark. There are many things that happen, leaving us to wonder how they're connected.  It's a mystery.  Also, much of it takes place in Africa, in the Congo. There's a lot of violence.

I'm not saying you should skip it. The story is compelling, despite the fact that you don't know what's going on most of the time. I will probably watch the rest to find out what the heck is going on! It sucked me in, I admit it. The acting is top-notch and some of the locales are beautiful. Like many shows today, there are only 8 episodes in the first season, so that makes it easier to binge-watch.
