Review of "Happy
Together"
10/3/18 by
Eva Diaz
airs Mondays 8:30/7:30c on CBS
This show is about an accountant (Damon Wayons, Jr.) and
his wife, Claire (Amber Stevens West), a young couple whose
marriage has become boring. Then Jake's famous rock star
client, Cooper James (Felix Mallard), shows up and asks if
he can hide out from the press after a bad break up with his
supermodel girlfriend. Cooper misses the life he used to
have before he was famous, and he longs for the routine life
that Jake and Claire have. He says that he envys them very
much. Jake and Claire long for a more exciting life, so
Cooper shows them what it's like to be a star by taking them
fancy places; in return, they introduce him to toaster
strudels.
The cast is funny, but what I don't like
is that Jake and Claire seem more like Cooper's parents,
despite the fact that they are only ten years older then
him. I don't know if the show will ever be able to grow past
this one demensional premise it seems stuck in. I hope
future shows will be better and show more friendship between
the three main characters, rather then a parent-child type
of relationship.
I give this show 3 out of 5 stars
and will kep watching because the cast is great, and it does
sometimes take a few episodes for a cast to gel together. |
MORE INFORMATION:
HAPPY TOGETHER
HAPPY TOGETHER stars Damon Wayans, Jr. in a comedy about a
30-something happily married couple who begin to reconnect
with their younger, cooler selves when a young pop star
drawn to their super ordinary suburban life unexpectedly
moves in with them. Jake, an accountant, and his dream wife,
Claire, a restaurant and bar designer, are very comfortably
settled into their marriage, enjoying evenings together on
the couch watching TV and scheduling time to change their
outgoing voicemail message. Their tame routine gets a
makeover when Jake’s client, exuberant music superstar
Cooper James, arrives on their doorstep looking for refuge
from the paparazzi following a high-profile breakup with his
girlfriend. Jake and Claire quickly discover there’s no way
they can keep up with their world-famous houseguest’s
effortlessly cool, fast-paced lifestyle. Cooper, however,
enjoys Jake and Claire’s more relaxed way of life,
discovering that a touch of ordinary can be extraordinary
for all three of them. Stephnie Weir stars as Claire’s
mother, Bonnie; Victor Williams stars as Claire’s father,
Gerald; and Chris Parnell stars as Cooper’s agent, Wayne.
