TV Show Reviews
Review of "The
Guest Book" 7/15/17 by
Suzanne
Airs Thursdays 10:30/9:30 on TBS
This is not a funny show. Everyone acts weird, or goofy,
or quirky, but it's just not funny. The cast is great. We
see many wonderful guest stars throughout the series. I just
think that the show's writers try so hard to be cool and
trendy, that they aren't trying hard enough to make it
funny.
Greg Garcia wrote the show. His shows "Yes Dear" and "My
Name Is Earl" were okay. He also did "Raising Hope" and "The
Millers," neither of which was very good. I guess it's
fair to say that his humor is uneven. If you have some
patience, check out this show and see if you like it.
MORE INFORMATION:
Emmy-winning writer Greg Garcia ("My Name Is Earl")
is behind this anthology series, a quirky, single-camera
comedy that brings to life the many stories Garcia has left
in guest books of various rental cabins in an effort to
freak out the next inhabitants. While the vacation-home
setting, Froggy Cottage, and the
characters living in the small mountain town remain
constant, episodes features a wide array of actors -- Jenna
Fischer, Stockard Channing, Margo Martindale, Michael
Rapaport, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Andrew J. West, among them
-- guest starring as the house's renters. Recurring cast
includes Kellie Martin ("Army Wives") as a town police
officer, and Carly Jibson (Broadway's "Hairspray") as a
bikini-bar proprietor.
