Kevin Can Wait pic

"Kevin Can Wait" review by Eva Diaz  9/20/16
Airs Mondays 8:30/7:30c on CBS

I was a fan of "King of Queens," so I was curious to watch Kevin James'  new show. He plays a retired cop named Kevin who's looking forward to spending time with his family and retired cop friends.  However, in the first episode, he decides that he must wait for his retirement and take a new job, to keep his  newly-engaged daughter from dropping out of school. She was going to take a job to support the dreams of her soon-to-be-husband, who's working on an unsold app.  Kevin tellls his daughter that they can move into the garage apartment to save money.

I didn't like the show as much as I thought  I would because Erin Hayes, who plays Kevin's wife, Donna, seems too calm to be married to Kevin, and the chemistry between the two actors is a little off.  Also, the show is just not that funny compared to his previous show or other sitcoms.  I hope it gets better as the show moves on and the cast gets more comfortable with each other.  I do like the fact that in this show, unlike "King of Queens," Kevin has three kids, which adds something to the show.

I give this show 3 out of 5 stars; it needs some work but is still worth watching. I don't know if it will attract people who aren't fans of Kevin James, but check it out for yourself.
