Review of "Blod
Drive" 7/7/17 by
Suzanne
Airs Mondays 10/9c on ABC
This is kind of an odd show. Naomi Watts plays a
psychologist, Jean, who gets too wrapped up in the lives of
her patients. She starts stalking this girl who works
in a coffee house because her ex-boyfriend is one of her
patients. She also flirts with the girl (who's also a
singer in a rock band) and gets involved with her. Jean is
married with two children, so it's a very risky business
that she's involved with.
The show is described as a psychological thriller, but
it's not very thrilling. It's more creepy than anything
else. I guess you're supposed to get some kind of vicarious
thrill from the risks she's taking, and this different world
she's entering. Eventually, her bad choices start
hurting her and her family. What a shock!
This show reminds me of the show "Chance" on HULU, which
I don't particularly care for, but it's way better than this
one. I find it hard to empathize with Jean or what
she's doing, or who she's hurting with her little suburban
thrill seeking. The show is very slow and doesn't seem
to have a lot of action. I don't plan to keep watching.
MORE INFORMATION:
Academy Award-nominee Naomi Watts stars in this
Netflix-original psychological thriller as Jean, a therapist
in New York with a successful practice and a life that seems
picturesque. As Jean starts to develop intimate and illicit
relationships with the people in her patients' lives, the
borders of her professional life and
personal fantasies become blurred. Jean descends into a
world where reality and the forces of her desires are
disastrously at odds, which impacts her life and the lives
of those around her.
