This is a nice little soapy drama. I watched the first three
episodes and it mostly kept my attention. I do enjoy soaps,
though. The plot reminded me a little bit of the new
show "The Arrangement" on E!, but that one is more weird and
sexy. This one is more of a standard drama. They
might have some plot twists, but very little will surprise
you when you watch it. Which is not to say it's not fun and
enjoyable.
The lead character is Paige (Bella Thorne),
a young L.A. student who is smart and beautiful. She
and a friend audition for a movie on a whim, and she gets
the lead role in a new YA movie, based on some popular book,
called "Locked." She tries to stay true to her friends
and her college education, but finds herself in the frenzied
movie world where everyone seems to lie, manipulate and
fight with each other.
Paige has two student
roommates, Jake (Charlie Depew)
and Cassie (Georgie Flores). She and Jake are attracted
to each other, but they haven't acted on it because they're
all good friends. She's also attracted to her new
co-star, Rainier (Carter Jenkins),
who is kind of a hot mess. Plus, his mom, a real
viper, is executive producer of the movie.
Depew is
cute and Thorne reminds me a little of Jennifer Garner.
There are many former soap actors in the show that you might
recognize. It's got a huge cast, too.
This is not a
terrible show, but it's not great, either. If you like soaps
and watching beautiful people, you should like it.
Otherwise, skip it and watch "Unreal," which is a much
better show about the ins and outs of Hollywood, which much
better characters.
