Review of "Daytime
Divas" 6/28/17 by

Airs Mondays 10/9c on VH1
I was looking forward to this show because I thought it
was about daytime soap opera divas. Unfortunately, it's
about daytime talk show divas. The show is good,
though. Vanessa Williams is always outstanding. She plays a
good bitch like nobody else, as she's proved before on "Ugly
Betty" and "Desperate Housewives."
The show is based on the novel by Star Jones, "Satan's
Sisters," who was on "The View." She was on that show for
many years before she was fired and had quite a big fight
with star Barbara Walters.
In the first episode, the star of the daytime show "The
Lunch Hour", Maxine (Williams) goes into a coma after
a big fight with co-star Mo (Tichina Arnold) - a character
who looks very similar to Star Jones. All of the women on
the show try to take Maxine's place while she's in a coma.
When she wakes up, she decides to use this back-biting to
her advantage.
It's a fun little soap opera-comedy that reminds me some
of "Ugly Betty" and some of "Unreal" and "Drop Dead Diva."
I'm not sure yet if it's as good as any of those shows, but
it's certainly got a great cast and idea behind it. Check it
out!
MORE INFORMATION:
Every weekday at noon, Maxine, Mo, Heather, Kibby, and
Nina—hosts of THE LUNCH HOUR, the long-running women’s talk
show—gather around the table to discuss life, love,
politics, and juicy gossip. But behind the scenes, it’s even
juicier — a backstage world filled with power struggles,
diva fits, and steamy affairs. Inspired by the book “Satan’s
Sisters” by Star Jones, television personality, lawyer and
journalist.
