I enjoyed this show last year when it started, although I
didn't keep up with it (I just watch too many shows!).
It's still really funny.
The first season was all about Jimmy and Gretchen meeting
and falling for one another. They're a very modern and
unconventional couple who swear and drink a lot. They don't
want to be "normal" or "conventional." They're both a
bit narcisstic and have had many failed relationships.
In the second season, Gretchen has moved in after
accidentally burning down her own building. They find
it difficult being in this more conventional setup.
The first episode this season is pretty funny. The second
one, where they go to the mall with their friends, is even
funnier. Jimmy has writer's block. Gretchen has a difficult
time buying "stuff."
This is not the funniest show on TV, but it's definitely
a good cable comedy and probably the funniest show on FX.

of Gretchen and Jimmy, fear, heartbreak, romance, sex,

fact that sometimes the worst people make the best
partners.

a dark twist on the romantic comedy genre.
Narcissistic,brash, and self-destructive Jimmy Shive-Overly
(Chris Geere) has inadvertently found himself paired
up with cynical, people-pleasing, and stubborn
Gretchen Cutler (Aya Cash). After a whirlwind
courtship that culminates in Gretchen burning her
apartment down with a faulty “back massager,” she
and Jimmy are forced to take their relationship to
the next level by moving in together (which neither
of them are particularly thrilled about). Now they
must learn how to live with each other when they can
barely live with themselves.
Rounding out the cast is Desmin Borges, who plays
Edgar Quintero, Jimmy’s once homeless war veteran
roommate who’s on a mission to redefine his
relationship with Jimmy; and Kether Donohue as
Lindsay Jillian, Gretchen’s best friend and former
partner in crime who’s now struggling to find her
identity after being dumped by her “lame, soft”
husband.
