I was excited to watch this show because of the great
cast, which includes James Brolin (John) and Dianne Wiest
(as his wife, Joan). These two actors steal the show as
their characters are the funniest of the great cast (which
also includes Colin Hanks as one of their sons). The
characters' four stories are told separately, and then they
come together in the end. That last part seemed kind
of forced to me because John gives a speech tying together
all the stories. This will get boring if they do it every
week. The cast is great, but the show should be an hour
instead of a half hour. This would avoid the confusion
and the unfinished feeling.
Also, I think if the show was expanded to an hour, it would
be a worthy replacement for fans of the canceled show
"Parenthood.". I think the show's writes are wasting the
talents of its wonderful cast. I hope that it improves.
Because of that, I am giving the show 3 out of 5 stars . You
can watch "Life in Pieces" Mondays at 8:30 PM Eastern time
7:30 Central time on CBS. The show will move to
Thursdays after the end of football season.
