"Lady
Dynamite" review by

Season 1 airs on Netflix
This is a surreal comedy, now streaming on Netflix.
It's loosely-based on the life of a comedienne and voice-
over actress, Maria Bamford. I will just come right out
and say it I very rarely watch these type of silly comedy
shows because they are not the type of humor I like at all.
Also, I feel it is trying too hard to be funny, and it
didn't make me laugh once. For example, the montage at the
beginning is clearly trying to make fun of feminine hygiene
commercials as well as 70's sitcom openings like "That Girl"
or "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," but it just went on way too
long.
Surreal comedy can be very good, like "Monty
Python and the Holy Grail." Just being silly and weird is
not funny. I don't know, maybe it's too subtle or it's
spoofing things I don't know about. I just didn't get it.
If you like surreal comedy shows or are a Maria Bamford
fan, you may like this show. There are some great cameos by
Maria's famous friends, and for that reason alone, I will
give this show a 1 out of 5 stars.
