Bones cast

Bones" review by Suzanne 9/29/15
Season 11 premieres Thursday, October 1 on FOX

I've been watching "Bones" since its premiere. They do whatever they can to shake things up on the show and make it fresh. Last season they didn't really end on a typical cliff-hanger.  Booth and Brennan decided to leave Washington and leave the Jeffersonian, so that he could have a desk job and they wouldn't be risking their lives any more. It seemed like almost an ending to the series.

There are some very minor spoilers here: When the new season starts, they're still in Washington, but he's training agents at the FBI (almost a desk job) and she's writing books while taking care of their two kids. They seem very happy, but we can tell right away that Booth is hiding something, and then he disappears. The entire first episode is all about the search for Booth and wondering if he's dead or not (not that any viewer would think that - you can't have this show without Booth or Brennan). Then the second episode, which I also saw, is all about where Booth is, what he's involved with, and how the others are trying to find him and save him. It's a two-part episode. "Castle" did the same thing this year. Instead of having a season finale, they had a happy ending in the Spring and then did a two-part season premiere this Fall.

Some new characters are introduced for the two episodes, including an FBI agent (played by Kim Raver), a scientist (played by Josh Causabon), and the people Booth are hanging out with, including the very busy Roger Cross ("Dark Matter," "Continuum" et al.) and one of my favorite actors, Brad Beyer ("Extant," "Jericho," and more).  Brace yourself for some shocks when one of the cast members leaves, and one of the main character's relatives dies (someone who's been on the show a few times).  The show always mixes some humor and romance with the action, adventure, and sadness (along with the usual gruesome body parts).

It's always fun and interesting to watch. The characters are what makes this show great.  We watch to see Booth and Brennan, Angela and Hodgins, and the rest. They're a great group and we feel like we know them after all this time. Make sure you tune in because it's a good show and very entertaining. I hope it's on for at least five more years!

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. They're supposed to have a crossover event with "Sleepy Hollow." That ought to be interesting!

"The Loyalty in the Lie"

THE TEAM MUST TRY TO SOLVE ONE OF ITS BIGGEST CASES EVER ON THE SEASON 11 PREMIERE OF “BONES”THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, ON FOX

THU OCT 1 8/7c

A case with close personal ties to the couple compels Brennan to become involved in the forensic analysis of the remains, and Booth mysteriously goes missing, prompting an FBI investigation into his whereabouts led by Agent Grace Miller (guest star Kim Raver), who works closely with FBI Agent James Aubrey on the case. However, tensions rise when Miller tries to investigate one of the team’s own as the primary suspect. The case also brings Brennan into contact with a member of Booth’s family (guest star Dilshad Vadsaria), and “squintern” Arastoo Vaziri (guest star Pej Vahdat), who has been filling in as lead forensic anthropologist during Brennan’s absence, hopes the temporary position becomes permanent in the all-new “The Loyalty in the Lie” Season 11 premiere episode of BONES.

"The Brother in the Basement"

THE TEAM GETS CLOSER TO UNCOVERING BOOTH’S WHEREABOUTS ON AN ALL-NEW “BONES” THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, ON FOX

THU OCT 8 9/8c

Another layer is added to the mystery of Booth’s whereabouts and the state of his physical condition when the team discovers that FBI Agent Miller (guest star Kim Raver) has not been entirely truthful with the FBI and the Jeffersonian, keeping vital information from them that could lead them to Booth. Meanwhile, the Jeffersonian gets a surprise visitor, FBI digital forensic scientist Dr. Benjamin Metzger (guest star Josh Casaubon), who works with Angela to try to decode the information the team has been able to uncover regarding Booth’s location and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Also, Arastoo makes a major decision that affects his and Cam’s personal and professional relationship in the all-new “The Brother in the Basement” episode of BONES airing Thursday, Oct. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
