"The Whispers" review by Suzanne 6/5/15
Airs Mondays 10/9c on ABC

Last week's premiere was very enjoyable. In the show, little kids are following some unseen voice, an invisible friend or pal who urges them to play a game, which results in killing or injuring their parents. An FBI agent, who's grieving for her husband, investigates the incidents because all of the parents are involved in some kind of high level government security.  She found out in the premiere that her husband is not really dead, and the audience found out that he's somehow related to what's going on with the kids. It was very interesting and how the kids act is really creepy. At the very end of the pilot, her deaf son got his hearing back because of his secret pal.

I look forward to seeing what happens next. There are so many questions to be answered. If they're plausible and interesting, than this will be a great show! That's always the question with these type of shows...how it turns out is the key, and whether the audience sticks around (if they take too long to let us know the answers to the secrets). I'll be watching, how about you?

Apparently the show is based on a Ray Bradbury story called "Zero Hour." I probably read it, but a long time ago, so I don't remember it. It was also part of "Ray Bradbury Theater" back in the 80's.

We love to play games with our children. But what happens when someone else starts to play with them too? Someone we don't know. Can't see. Can't hear. In The Whispers, someone or something -- is manipulating the ones we love most to accomplish the unthinkable. The Whispers is produced by Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Zack Estrin, and Dawn Parouse Olmstead. The pilot was written and co-executive produced by Soo Hugh.

In the country's center of political power, Washington D.C., several kids have been talking about their imaginary friend. What the parents don't know is this friend is not as imaginary as they assume. And when the mysterious games they play turn dangerous, FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan is called in to investigate. Is this just a case of children being led down the wrong path? Or is it something far more unsettling... as she searches for the answer.

Halfway across the world, in the middle of the Sahara Desert, Defense Department operative Wes Lawrence unearths a strange, haunting geological phenomenon. Are these mysteries connected? The answer will force them all to face their greatest fear. That perhaps the enemy... is already in their homes. As the clock counts down, it's a suspenseful race to save not only their families, but the world. Before it's too late.

Cast: Lily Rabe as Claire Bennigan, Barry Sloane as Wes Lawrence, Milo Ventimiglia as John Doe/Sean Bennigan, Derek Webster as Jessup Rollins, Kristen Connolly as Lena Lawrence, Kylie Rogers as Minx Lawrence, and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf as Henry Bennigan.

The Whispers is produced by ABC Studios, with Amblin TV as co-producer.
