Stitchers

"Stitchers" review by Suzanne 5/24/15
Premieres Tuesday, June 2nd on ABC Family

The show is billed as a "procedural crime drama" when, really, it's a scifi show. I guess it's sort of both. Kirsten is a college student who seems super smart and can hack into anything, yet she also seems emotionless.  We find out that she has something called "temporal dysplasia", meaning that she can't tell the passage of time (not sure it's a real thing). A secret government agency convinces her to join them in their new project where they hack into a recently-dead person's mind to read their thoughts and find out how they died (among other things). This is very similar to something they did in the FOX show "Fringe." This show is not nearly as good as that one, though. If you're a very picky scifi fan, you might not like this one. It's fun and enjoyable, but it's more action-adventure than real scifi.

Kyle Harris plays Cameron, the brilliant neurosurgeon that's largely in control of the program. He's very geeky, and he and Kirsten share and attraction (and will presumably have a romantic future). Salli Richardson-Whitfield (from "Eureka") plays the bossy woman in charge of the group (I thinks he works for the NSA). Allison Scagliotti (from "Warehouse 13") plays Kirsten's roommate. Both are kind of wasted in this fluff. The people behind the scenes seem to have done mostly kids shows, which is why they're doing this for ABC Family, I guess.

It's no "Kyle XY" but it'll probably be a hit with the kids. The actors do a fine job, and the stories are interesting in that sort of CSI kind of way. Check it out!

Below is info about the first two episodes

Stitchers: A Stitch in Time (6/2)

A YOUNG WOMAN IS RECRUITED TO HACK INTO THE MEMORIES OF THE DEAD IN THE SERIES PREMIERE OF “STITCHERS” AIRING TUESDAY, JUNE 2 AT 9:00PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Burbank, CA (May 5, 2015)– Highly intelligent and emotionally distant, Kirsten Clark has an aptitude for technology but never expected that she’d be hacking into the minds of the recently deceased, in the series premiere of “Stitchers,” airing Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 9:00PM ET/PT on ABC Family.

ABC Family’s first procedural drama, “Stitchers,” follows Kirsten, a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave. Working alongside Kirsten is Cameron, a brilliant neuroscientist whose passion for the program is evident in his work. The secret program is headed by Maggie, a skilled veteran of covert operations, and includes Linus, a socially immature bioelectrical engineer and communications technician. Kirsten’s roommate, Camille, a gifted computer science grad student, is also recruited to use her skills to assist Kirsten in her new role as a ‘stitcher.’

“A Stitch in Time” was written by Jeffrey Alan Schechter and directed by Todd Holland.

Stitchers: Friends in Low Places (6/9)

A DANGEROUS NEW DRUG HITS THE STREETS OF LOS ANGELES IN AN ALL-NEW EPISODE OF “STITCHERS,” AIRING TUESDAY, JUNE 9 AT 9:00PM ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Burbank, CA (May 21, 2015)– Kirsten crosses paths with Detective Fisher again when they end up working on the same overdose death of a young woman in an all-new episode of “Stitchers,” airing Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 9:00PM ET/PT on ABC Family.

A dangerous new drug has claimed the life of a young woman and, while the Stitchers team is looking for its source, they run into Detective Fisher (guest star Damon Dayoub, “NCIS”), who is on the same trail.

“Friends in Low Places” was written by Jeffrey Alan Schechter and directed by Steve Robin.

“Stitchers” is executive-produced by Jeffrey Alan Schechter (“Overruled!”), Jonathan Baruch and Rob Wolken. The series stars Emma Ishta as Kirsten Clark, Kyle Harris (“Carrie Diaries”) as Cameron Goodkin, Ritesh Rajan (upcoming “Jungle Book” feature) as Linus Ahluwalia, Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Eureka,” “I Am Legend”) as Maggie Baptiste, and Allison Scagliotti (“Warehouse 13”) as Camille Engelson.
