TV Show Reviews

"Selfie" review by Suzanne
Premieres September 30 on ABC
I didn't expect to like this show much because the
previews made it sound pretty dumb. However, it's a
fairly clever show. The first episode was pretty cute, and
it made me laugh. I hope it does get funnier, though. I
enjoyed the characters and the situations, but there need to
be more laughs.
The show is loosely based on the play "Pygmalion", which
is also the play that "My Fair Lady" was based on. The
show is about a self-centered woman named Eliza who spends
way too much time on the internet. When things don't go well
for her, she asks Henry, a guy who works with her, to take
her under his wing and help her be a better person.
It's really cute, and the actors do a great job. Karen
Gillan, who was so awesome on "Doctor Who" for quite a few
years as Amy, is Eliza. John Cho plays Henry, who's a bit
stiff. Eliza helps him to loosen up, too. Cho has been in
many great TV shows and movies, including the Star Trek
movies, the Harold & Kumar movies, Sleepy Hollow and more.
You can watch the pilot yourself now for free on ABC.com,
so check it out! I'll definitely be watching the show
regularly. The show faces stiff competition against
NCIS and the new superhero show "The Flash" as well as "The
Voice". FOX's new reality show "Utopica" also airs during
that time, but I doubt that will do much.
