"How to Get Away with Murder" review by Eva 9/26/14
Airs Thursdays 10/9c on ABC

I was not that excited about many of the new shows this season, but this one was one that I wanted to watch because it came from the same woman that brought us "Scandal" -- one of my favorite shows. I set the bar high for this show but was a little disappointed; not much, just a little. The show stars Viola Davis as law professor Annalise Keating.  She uses the students in her class to help her defend her clients, since she is a well-respected criminal defense attorney. The show is fast-paced, like "Scandal", but it didn't grab me from the start like "Scandal" did when I saw the first episode. It was hard to follow because it focused on five or six of the students, and none of the student characters really interested me. Annalise Keating is the interesting one to me because she is willing to do anything she can to make sure her clients don't go to jail, and she doesn't care if they are guilty or innocent.

The most interesting part, to me, was trying to figure out if Annalise was lying, or telling the truth just to get the results she wanted from her students -- and the jury in the case she was trying to win. I won't tell you the plot of the pilot because I don't want to ruin it for you, but I will say it didn't have as many surprises as I expected.  However, I will keep watching, just to see if they make the law students more interesting, and to see if the show gives me those shocking surprises that I love in every episode. I think that this is the best new drama series I have seen yet this season. I give this show 4 out of 5 stars.  If you haven't seen it, find it on the internet or On Demand.  It's definitely worth watching. DVR or watch it on ABC Thursdays at 10 PM Eastern time 9 Central time!
