"Finder's
Keepers" review by Suzanne
10/9/14
Premieres Saturday October 18 at 9/8c on Syfy
I wasn't sure I would like this because I'm not a big fan
of horror movies, especially if I think they're going to be
bad. Syfy has a reputation for having bad horror movies, and
I've seen a few of them. This one, however, is not
bad. At first, I thought it would be too creepy or scary,
but the story really pulled me in.
A woman named Allison (Jaime Pressly) and her daughter,
Claire (Kylie Rogers) move into a new house after Allison's
divorce from her husband, John (Patrick Muldoon). The
daughter finds a creepy doll in the floorboards. We already
know from the beginning of the movie that the doll is
trouble!
Allison meets the ditzy cat lady next door, Janine
(Marina Sirtis in a very funny role). The little girl starts
talking to the doll and strange things start happening. I'm
sure you know how this story goes because it's a familiar
one! However, there are a few surprises along the way. I
really liked the ending.
The makeup, special effects, etc. are really good, and
they do a good job making it creepy and spooky. It's a good
one for Halloween. My only complaints are that I thought
Jaime was not very likable (for someone who's the lead
heroine), and they didn't really explain why she and John
broke up (there were hints that he was not faithful, but he
seems like a great guy throughout the movie). I would have
liked to see more of Janine and her cats, too. It struck me
as odd that when she talked about her cats to Allison,
Allison didn't say much or ask her how many cats she had.
These are minors things, though. It gets even better as
it goes along. Check it out! I got to interview
Muldoon and Sirtis yesterday, so I should have that
interview to put up soon on our
Articles and Interviews Page.
They were both very nice and we had a terrific chat.
Syfy: A haunted doll teaches one little girl why children
shouldn't play with undead things.
