This is a good scifi show. I'd say it's as good as "Stargate
SG-1", which makes sense since it has some of the same
writers! I was just thinking the other day that we could use
a really good scifi show that grabs you the same way that
show did, or "Farscape." Syfy has some okay shows, but none
of them are as good as that. "Defiance" is not bad, but, I
don't know, it's not quite as good. It's probably a personal
preference. I'm not too thrilled about dystopian futures. I
grew up on "Star Trek," so I don't like seeing a future
where government has collapsed and people are desperate and
starving, and where there are lots of outlaws.
In this show, we don't know yet what the Earth or other
planets are like yet. We may learn that in future episodes.
It involves traveling on spaceships (which, again, is like
Star Trek).
In the first episode, this crew of 6 people wake up from
stasis on a spaceship, with no memory of who they are or how
they got there. They meet one other "person" on the ship as
well. There are many secrets and interesting things that
happen. By the end of the episode, we learn who they really
are, and it's quite shocking! (Or do we?) Each of the characters
is very different, and fascinating. A few of the actors are
familiar. Two are from "Lost Girls" and one was on
"Continuum" and other science fiction shows. The
others I don't recognize, but one of them really reminds me
of actor Dave Annable. They do a great job, and the look and
feel of the show is very cool, too. Some of it reminds me of
"Firefly."
Which is not to say that the show is derivative at all.
It's very original. Apparently, it's also based on a comic
book, but I haven't seen it.
Anyway, it's a very entertaining science fiction show,
and I look forward to more! If you like scifi, you should
check it out.
