I watched a few episodes of this show. I have to admit
that I thought it was a new show because I don't normally
watch reality shows (or any non-fiction) and I kind of got
it mixed up with the new show "The Asset" (which is a
drama). I have to say, though, it's not a bad show. It's
your standard cooking competition show, now in its second
season.
It reminds me a bit of "the Voice" in that the judges
taste the dishes without knowing which of the contestants
cooked them. Also, the judges coach the cooks and team up
with them to compete, which I believe they also do on "The
Voice".
The celebrity chefs are Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson,
and some other guys I've never heard of (Ludo Lefebvre and
Brian Malarkey).
Although I've never been a fan of these types of shows, I
can see why people like them. They tell you about each
contestant, and you get to know them a little bit, and they
all have some kind of thing about them that makes them stand
out. In this season, for instance, they have a guy who used
to make food for his wife, but she died, so he stopped
cooking. Awww...
That's the part that really separates competition shows
from game shows (that and they have the same contestants all
season). If you like cooking shows that focus more on
the contestants and chefs than the food, you'll like this
one. If I were to watch one regularly, I think I would head
to the Food Network because they spend more time on the
food.
FYI "The Asset" was canceled, which is a shame. I liked
that one and would have watched it.
