"Whitney" review by Suzanne
Airs Thurdays 9:30/8:30c on NBC

I don't know if I'm getting old, or what, but I just don't find most of the sitcoms nowadays to be that funny. Sometimes "Family Guy" is funny, but less and less so. Has everyone run out of jokes? Okay, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" can be really funny. Frankly, I think many of the so-called dramas like Mad Men and House are funnier than the sitcoms. I guess it must be really hard to make me laugh.

"Whitney" tries really hard. I like the characters, and they can be somewhat funny, but that's the best they can do. They try a bit too hard. Maybe it will get better. Whitney is kind of loud and complains, and she has all these cutesy faults. Her boyfriend is very nice and puts up with her. She has various obnoxious friends. Kind of like Cougar Town, I guess? But with younger people who aren't as funny.

I don't know why they can't make these shows as funny as great shows from the recent past like Seinfeld, Frasier, Roseanne, Will & Grace, Drew Carey Show, Married with Children, etc.  Keep trying, writers!
