My favorite new show is "Smash". It's a really great show about some people putting on a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroes. If you don't like musicals, you probably won't like this show. And we don't want to know you.

This is not "Glee". It's about adults, and it's not a comedy, although there are many light moments. The music is pretty good, just like a real musical. The acting, dancing, singing, et al. is fabulous.

Debra Messing from "Will & Grace" plays Julia, the producer putting on the show, aided by her gay friend Tom (Christian Borle) and a choreographer, Derek (Jack Davenport). The last two hate each other. There are lots of interesting behind-the-scenes stories to keep you going between music and dance numbers. Katherine McPhee, best known from "American Idol" plays one of the starlets. Angelica Huston is producing the musical.

I hope I'm not the only person out there who loves this show because I hope to see it do well. I only watch one new show per "season" and this is the one I'm choosing for the spring season.
