"Stargate Universe" Season
Premiere Review by Suzanne
Airing Fridays on SyFy at 9:00pm/8:00c
I have enjoyed all of the Stargate shows over the years. They
have consistently great stories and characters, and lots of action. What more
can you ask of any drama or scifi show?
The new show, Stargate universe, is very good, too. It borrows ideas from many
other scifi shows, but it borrows them very well. Parts of the show remind me of
Quantum Leap or Sliders, parts remind me of Defying Gravity, parts remind me of
Battlestar Galactica, and parts remind me of Jericho.
The show is about a group of people who are stranded on this alien spaceship and
trying to get home. They have a Stargate, but unlike the other Stargate shows,
they don't have a way to get home or to dial in to a planet because they are
flying through galaxies far, far away. They have one way to contact Earth, and
that's it. Meanwhile, their supplies are running low, and they are not quite
sure how to use the ship.
The colonel in charge was injured right away. He gets better, but he is still
injured. The scientist in charge is kind of crazy and not very good with people.
There is a computer hacker guy that is really smart and very fun and likable.
There are many people on the ship, so I'm sure we will get to know them as time
goes on.
The acting is really good and includes Lou Diamond Phillips, Justin Louis,
Robert Carlyle, David Blue, Alaina Huffman, Elyse Levesque, and Ming-Na.
If you like Scifi, you should love this show. It's very good and worth watching.
