"Psych" Season 3 Premiere
Review by Suzanne 7/8/08
I always enjoy watching the show "Psych". I really couldn't tell you why it is not on my regular viewing schedule. I do intend to watch it all on DVD sometime. Anyway, I enjoyed watching this preview of the 3rd season premiere.
Fabulous superstar Cybill Shepherd plays Shawn's long-gone mother who arrives back in town. Shawn is still angry at his father (played by Corbin Bernsen) for their divorce, among other things. Meanwhile, Gus' job is on the line because of all the time he spends with Shawn playing detective. He and Shawn are hired by his company's boss (played by the great Christopher McDonald) to get rid of a ghost at his house. The case takes many great twists and turns! It is quite surprising and entertaining. There are many funny bits with Cybill Shepherd and series regular Tim Omundson (Carlton), too.
What more can anyone ask? Tune in for the premiere, Friday, July 18th on USA Network.
Below are some press releases for more information!
THE PSYCH OFFICE RE-OPENS FOR A THIRD SEASON
ON FRIDAY, JULY 18 AT 10/9C
USA Network hit ser ies starring James Roday, Dulè Hill and Corbin Bernsen
PSYCH, USA Network’s hit original series starring James Roday (“The Dukes of Hazzard”),
Dulé Hill (“The West Wing”) and Corbin Bernsen (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” “L.A. Law”), will kick
off its third season with all new cases on USA Network on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 10/9c.
A quick-witted drama, PSYCH follow the adventures of young police consultant, Shawn Spencer
(Roday), who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute the precinct detectives think
he's psychic – at least that’s what he lets them believe. Spencer is joined by his best friend and
reluctant sidekick, Gus, and his disapproving father (Bernsen), who ironically was the one who
honed his son's "observation" skills as a child. Also featured are Timothy Omundson (“Judging
Amy,” “Deadwood”), Maggie Lawson (“Crumbs,” “Inside Schwartz”) and Kirsten Nelson
(“Everwood”).
In the premiere episode “Ghosts,” we meet Shawn’s (Roday) mother, Madeleine, played by
Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominated TV legend Cybill Shepherd. Madeleine, a criminal
psychologist, returns to Santa Barbara to help the SBPD with a case much to the surprise of her
son and ex-husband Henry (Bernsen). We also see the Spencer family focus with the
dysfunction of Madeleine and Henry’s divorce as Shawn deals with the two of them back in his
life. The PSYCH agency is on the case of a ghost in the home of Gus’ boss.
PSYCH is executive produced by Steve Franks (“Big Daddy”), Kelly Kulchack and Chris Henze,
in association with Tagline Pictures and NBC Universal Cable Studio. Mel Damski (“Picket
Fences”) serves as the Executive Producer/Director, Saladin Patterson (“The Bernie Mac
Show”) is the co-executive producer/writer and Josh Bycel (“Andy Parker, P.I.”) is the coexecutive
producer/writer
