Primetime Show Reviews

The cast of "Knight Rider"

"Knight Rider" Series Premiere Review by Eva 10/5/08

Knight Rider Wednesdays 8 Eastern 7 Central NBC.

I was very excited about this show because I admit that the first version of Knight Rider was a guilty pleasure of mine. It wasn't that I liked to watch David Hasslhooff - I was a tomboy. I liked the car; to me, KiTT was the star of the show, and in the new version, KITT is still the star of the show. I love the special effects of the show now and that KITT can transform into different car models depending on the situation.

The Knight Rider cast is headed by actor Bruce Davison, who plays Charles Graiman, the head of Knight Industries, the super-secret agency that works with the government. Justin Bruening plays Mike Tracer, a former Navy seal who has fought in the war and for some reason can't remember parts of his past. Mike Tracer later changes his name to Michael Knight after Knight Industries fakes his death to protect Michael from people who are trying to kill him. The show reminds me a bit of the pretender because Mike finds out a little bit more about his past that people from his own agency don't want him to discover.

The show tends to be slow in its story-telling, and towards the middle, you find yourself thinking, "Shouldn't it have ended already?" In my opinion, that was also what happened with the original show. I think if you want to watch an action show with one awesome car, this is the show for you. It is wonderful escapist television.

I am not sure it will survive on Wednesday night against hits like "Pushing Daisies" on ABC and "The New Adventures of Old Christine", and the new comedy "Gary
Unmarried" on CBS. I wish NBC would move the show to another night that would give the show a better chance to survive. I give the show a 3 out of 5.
